This a video about Asclepius but almost the entire comment section talks about one throw away about Hades which is also true. Jesus, you mention Hades once and immediately everyone starts jumping to his defense because you read summaries and retellings of greek myth instead of the original story. Looking at the primary sources in Theoi, indeed Hades did not specifically mention to have Asclepius murked and that was Zeus decision. Most version even leave Hades out and Zeus does it on his own, in fear of humans becoming quasi-immortal. But Hades is still a mythical greek god (as opposed to a theological greek god because most ancient greeks didn’t take the myths literally and thought of them as benevolent.) He is not a good or nice guy. Just because he R worded someone once and did a couple of mild evil things instead of R wording a dozen and did a dozens of evil things like the others doesnt mean he should be applauded. Hades is not S-tan but you are way too overcorrecting. Hades and Persephone cursed a city with a deadly plague and didnt stop until two girls were sacrificed to them "When plague seized the whole of Aonia and many died, there were sent officers to consult Apollo's oracle at Gortyne. The god replied that they should make an appeal to the two gods of the underworld. He said that they would cease from their anger if two willing maidens were sacrificed to the Two. Of course not one of the maidens in the city complied with the oracle until a servant-woman reported the answer of the oracle to the daughters of Orion. They were at work at their loom and, as soon as they heard about this, they willingly accepted death on behalf of their fellow citizens before the plague epidemic had smitten them too. They cried out three times to the gods of the underworld saying that they were willing sacrifices. They thrust their bodkins into themselves at their shoulders and gashed open their throats. And they both fell down into the earth.“ Hades has such a hatred and spite for people who heal people and bring good will because they threaten his domain. He literally wants more people to die. -He hates all doctors: "There was once a doctor who knew nothing about medicine. So when everyone was telling a certain sick man, 'Don't give up, you will get well; your illness is the sort that lasts for a while, but then you will feel better,' this doctor marched in and declared, 'I'm not going to play games with you or tell you lies: you need to take care of all your affairs because you are going to die. You cannot expect to live past tomorrow.' Having said this, the doctor did not even bother to come back again. After a while the patient recovered from his illness and ventured out of doors, although he was still quite pale and not yet steady on his feet. When the doctor ran into the patient, he greeted him, and asked him how all the people down in Hades were doing. The patient said, 'They are taking it easy, drinking the waters of Lethe. But Persephone and the mighty god Pluto were just now threatening terrible things against all the doctors, since they keep the sick people from dying. Every single doctor was denounced, and they were ready to put you at the top of the list. This scared me, so I immediately stepped forward and grasped their royal sceptres as I solemnly swore that since you are not really a doctor at all, the accusation was ridiculous!" (Aesop, The Aesopica / Aesop's Fables) He hates hygeia purely because she's a goddess who cures illness. " Charming queen of all, "lovely and blooming, blessed Hygeia, mother of all, bringer of bliss, hear me. Through you vanish the illnesses that afflict man, through you every house blossoms to the fullness of joy. The arts thrive when the world desires you, O queen, *loathed by Hades,* the destroyer of souls. Apart from you all is without profit for men: wealth, the sweet giver of abundance for those who feast, fails, and man never reaches the many pains of old age. Goddess, come, ever-helpful to the initiates, keep away the evil distress of unbearable diseases." (The Orphic Hymns, Hymn LXVIII. To Hygeia) Hades is also often called Pitiless and even hateful because he doesn’t care about mortals or their suffering. Its why no one worshiped him. No matter how much you offer or pray to him your death won’t get delayed nor would you get a better spot in the underworld, thats Persephones and Demeters thing. That was important because the Greeks prayed to the gods to get something out of it and they give offerings in exchange. Stuff like Orpheus happend because Persephone took pity and convinced him more than Orpheus did and Orpheus was such a good musician that the fates, furies and even inanimate objects get affected by his song. This apathy can be further seen with the underworld. It is so terrible there that the extremely proud Achilles would rather be a servant to the lowest man in the overworld than be the king of the underworld. They eat dust and mud, while being in total darkness. Achilles answered: “Speak not to me, Odysseus, words of comfort concerning death. Far rather would I drudge for hire under some poor man’s roof that has scarce bread for his household, if only I might be alive upon the earth, than reign over all the nations of the dead… But come, give me tidings of my young son.“ And this is what Hades condemned Persephone for part of the year. This the live that awaits everyone. Elysium came later and was only for those who did great deeds or initiates of Demeter and Persephone, and way later for anyone who was a good person. Because people generally don’t want to imagine having such a terrible fate. And now some will say but he didn’t R Persephone, yes he did. There are 4 ancient accounts of the Myth The first in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter. Then 2 others that just summarize it and the unfished unnecessary elaborate De R de Proserpina. I read all of these and it makes it very explicit that Persephone was kidnapped without consent. She screamed for help and was happy to see her mother again. Being R-ed also happend. When Hermes was sent to pick up Persephone he saw them lying on the bed."there he found the lord in his palace sitting on a bed with his bashful bedmate, very much unwilling, longing for her mother"). They called her (persephone) an unwilling bedmate. In de R de Pros. she even gets chained up after the ceremony is over and is calling for her Mother, which Demeter sees via a prophetic dream. Then she gets forced, yes forced not tricked into eating the pomegranate seeds which dooms her into spending half the year in the underworld. There is no version where she did so willingly or knew what would happen. There is also no version where Persephone went willingly in the Underworld. Hades and Persephone being a consentual couple came from a child friendly retelling decades ago that made it’s way into modern summaries and retellings. Hence the traditional name of R of Persephone. You can read the Hymn to Demeter its only a couple dozen pages, its the first thing that comes up when googling it and its not that long. The other sources can be read on Theoi.com. You will also notice that 95% of it is about Demeter traveling and trying to find her daughter, which you probably never heard about given that its taken out of every modern retelling. There are only 2 videos on youtube on it and one of them only covers it because it has similarities to an egyptian myth. Persephone sitting on a throne equal with Hades is as OSP Red said is also not a thing. It referred to the unwilling Bedmate thing. Hades also immediately threatend Zeus that he’d release the Titans if he doesn’t get a bride instead of asking normally. In de R Pros. He would have gone to war with Zeus if the morai didn’t stop him and suggested he’d ask first instead of pointlessly going to war for no reason. Besides that Hades cheated on Minte with Persephone and she continued being his concubine, which made Hades cheat on Persephone with Minte. There was also Leuce, but the chronology of when it happened was never given. Persephone meanwhile cheats with Adonis every year explaining why the the seasons sets in on diffrent times as she wants to remain longer with him. Minte story also doesn’t prove that she loved Hades. She was insulting Persephone which is reason enough for a greek deity to exact retribution. She was also threatening her position as Persephone was going to spent part of the year in the Underworld anyway as per fates decree, she has no choice but being there. Better be Queen during that time than being cast aside as a nobody. They are not even the best greek love couple. Eros and Psyche is the better story with Psyche having actual agency. So is ovids version of Atalanta and Hippomenes where she liked him before the race. Dionysius and Ariadne aswell. No doubt will there still be people who didn’t read the myths trying to justify this and cognitive dissonance this away. If you really want a greek god couple to ship go for Eros and Pysche. But this is already long enough and took to long to write. Just read the Homeric Hymn to Demeter. He was not a good god just less bad and he did a couple nice things but so did every other greek god that gets decried as bad.
@ Yeah, i think there was some sort of quote that when you’re in hell normalcy looks like heaven. He just looks better in comparison because he doesn’t appear all that often. Interestingly, He is one of Heroes in Greek Myth that have a happy family (Until Zeus kills him). All his children either inherit some aspect of Asclepius title or becomes famous doctor/physician themselves. This gives me the impression of Asclepius as a strict but caring father. Making sure all his children knows about medicine (his whole life works), but doesn't force them to follow his path (ressurecting the dead). Good for him.

Asclepius raising the dead upset Hades not just because of it lessening his power, but it was more under minding his authority. Interesting fact: in some myths Chiron was taught BY Apollo thus taking care of Asclepius was simply returning the favor. (I also forgot about this but technically Chiron is his great uncle as Chiron is the half brother to Zeus as they are both sons of Cronus/Chronos albeit in different ways)
To be fair, Hades is not as self absorbed compared to the rest of the pantheon. In other iterations, he simply told Zeus to stop Asclepius. Reason is not only Hades's powers were being taken but it also disrespects his authority and what the concept of death stands for, also resurrecting the dead on a whim may cause some imbalance in life and death unless permitted by Hades himself. I honestly can't blame Hades for that, but I can blame him for asking Zeus to put a stop to this. Hades could've just talked to Apollo about the situation or to Asclepius, or tell Zeus to stop Assclap by talking as well. Some people like Xenophanes disliked Homer and Hesiod because they portrayed the gods like humans.
So didn't even know this guy was a servant. I guess it makes sense as even though he's a lesser god in Greek myth or his roman counterpart Aesculapius, as in not one of the twelve, his symbol is international known due for medicine. The strangest thing is knowing his roman counterpart had a cult following, as in an actual cult that spread throughout Rome. Romans doing roman things I guess.
In Hades's defense, his job was basically in jeopardy if (in an Olympian's pov) some rando quack was basically putting you out of business or hijacking your customers.
You also forgot the epilogue of LB4 where it's a dying Asclepius saying a random child falling and healing him and remembering why he developed is medicine skill and his medicine to resurrect the dead which his in fate lore was for a desire to resurrect his mother and see her (which his why in fate lore is hatred of Apollo is more prevalent)
Yurie! First of all, happy holidays. Second, could you make a video about Semiramis? I started to research and discovered that the actual person is almost overshadowed by such a pouti pourri of mysticism and biblical conspiracy theories, so I kind of gave up ^w^.
Correction: Chaldea's CHAD Doctor. Seriously, he's cool as hell. He's probably my second favorite Caster after Arthuria Avalon. I loved him at LB4, his interlude is fun, and every cameo he does in other interludes in events he brings the vibe of: "I may be a mad doctor, but you can count on me. I got you bro".
Huh, a snake giving another snake an herb that resurrects it.... kinda reminds me how the herb that Gilgamesh searched for in his Epic was ultimately stolen by a snake. Maybe there is an influence somewhere.
Now why would the blood on the left side of her body be any different from the blood on the right side of her body I'm pretty sure the blood circulates through her body normally
Thank you for the video, and Merry Christmas Yurie: God Bless🎄😇✝️ On a somewhat related note, the day Zeus comes after I can only imagine what that video was going to look like😂 Also, what did you think of silent Hill 2?
To be fair, Hades has kinda a point. After all as I understand Greek Myth, the Souls in the Underworld are reborn. So Ascelpius taking these souls and ressurecting them could interfere with that process. So im not exactly thinking Hades was in the wrong here. Hades is usually a chill dude amongst the Greek Gods. And frankly I probably would try and stop this guy too. One should not mess with death like this.
Souls don’t get reborn in the vast majority of Greek myth. Rebirth exists in some versions. But thats only for those who want to be reborn or after a thousand years in the underworld. And if you’re going to murder someone whose medical skills are thousands of years more advanced then ours because he saved a live then your moral system is screwed up.

When the bar is set in hell even normalcy will look like heaven. I have already made a comment regarding Hades in this comment section that you can look up. Just because he R worded someone once and did a couple of mild evil things instead of R wording a dozen and doing dozens of evil things like the others doesnt mean he should be applauded.
He was not a good god just less bad and he did a couple nice things but so did the other gods that are being decried as bad.
The only defence they have is that ancient greeks didnt believe the the myths were literally real and that in their Theology the gods were all benevolent.
Yes another awesome video 👍 keep up the good work sir
You also forgot the epilogue of LB4 where it's a dying Asclepius saying a random child falling and healing him and remembering why he developed is medicine skill and his medicine to resurrect the dead which his in fate lore was for a desire to resurrect his mother and see her (which his why in fate lore is hatred of Apollo is more prevalent)
That's what I was alluding to when it came to Douman messing with him.
Unless it would be to ressurect Ritsuka. Then Medusa wouldnt mind a blood donation. Ore fore Sakura.
Hey just incase you didnt hear it, happy holidays
Yurie! First of all, happy holidays. Second, could you make a video about Semiramis? I started to research and discovered that the actual person is almost overshadowed by such a pouti pourri of mysticism and biblical conspiracy theories, so I kind of gave up ^w^.
She's on the list.
I mean… compared to Poseidon and especially Zeus, Hades was one of the nicer gods and didn’t really mess with mortals the way they did. 🫤
Huh, a snake giving another snake an herb that resurrects it.... kinda reminds me how the herb that Gilgamesh searched for in his Epic was ultimately stolen by a snake. Maybe there is an influence somewhere.
6:27 DONT WORRY ILL WAIT!
Now why would the blood on the left side of her body be any different from the blood on the right side of her body I'm pretty sure the blood circulates through her body normally
It’s mythology it rarely makes sense.
Mythology can be... silly.
Thank you for the video, and Merry Christmas Yurie: God Bless🎄😇✝️
On a somewhat related note, the day Zeus comes after I can only imagine what that video was going to look like😂
Also, what did you think of silent Hill 2?
He may get a good depiction but dang it it just makes me wish for buffs for irisval.
Come on man! Haven't Hades been slandered enough by being equivalate to Satan? Let my boy go he done nothing wrong.
