Saw this show in Boise…rocked my world!! All I could think about! I had a spot 1981 in the Madison Scouts contra line but couldn't make it$$$! So disappointing! did tour Europe with a small corp the Percussion Naut Patriots in 1979.
@unclefrodo1 I am involved in drum corps and I have had the chance to work with many of the Blue Devils music and visual staff. I can tell you that what they do is very complex and challenging. Haters gonna hate :)
@TheChuck624 I disagree. Today's performances are 100 times more complex. It's not that they're better or worse, the activity has just evolved. Harder drill harder music, bigger impact. I agree that DCI has evolved....unfortunately....as far as 100 times, I'm not sure about that statistic...that would be difficult to quantify.....I can't watch anything from today's activity. Glorified marching band and theater is all it is.

What a great corps. Probably one of the best Blue Devils corps of all time.
What is this tune called?! I have heard it in a lot of shows, but I can't find anything about what it's called
@Maverickbaritone Props were a change for the worse.

Gotta love marching timpani!
Are you sure this is 1979 and not 1980? They put "you gotta try" Buddy Ruch tag at the end if the show because the 1979 show was so successful.
It is 1979. Says so on the banner on the back fence.
They did not have THEMES at that time. Each corp had a concert as such with drills and guard--no props
can't march in step or do a horn pop even after a season of practice -- WOW

Drill harder, definately, music, occassionally.
Gee... same thing they played until 1988. No wonder they have 14 titles. Cadets won 10 and only repeated tunes in 1983 and 1990.
