The fact that you referenced Donkey from Shrek just made you my very favorite person. I adored you and all your videos for inspiration even before, but now you are my favorite person on RUclips!!! Please don't ever stop making these videos! :D

My kids are reading narrative nonfiction memoirs of different children's authors in book groups right now. Their first meetings are tomorrow (Thursday). They took notes on their questions as they read and will discuss them in their group. My teammate had her kids do mind maps about their books after they finished. They were done on poster board and came out quite nice.

We have book club in my A.P English 12 class. It's obviously more complex but the basic principles and ideas are the same. So it's kool that you are getting theses kids ready for the future.

I have started my book club few days ago, so far so good. I believe it’s a good way getting the students to read, it really help them in critical thinking, sentence construction, deportation, social presentation, the way they talk and educationally as well. It builds their confidence and so much more, thank you for your guidance. The pocket book means a lot to me but not able to get access at all.

Thank you for guiding me to this video! You mentioned that you give them about two to three weeks to complete a book. Can you give me an idea of how many minutes per day and days per week that they would dedicate to book clubs? Do they get some periods to work on reading the selected pages/chapters and then another period to work on the booklet or are they required to do all reading outside of class? I have done these with upper elementary (7 or 8) and they had some very good discussions. I am still getting used to teaching 5th grade after doing 7th for my entire career until this year. Thank you for all of your inspiring videos!

Why don't you lower your small group table and use it's as a bench for your students.

I have been using signposts with my 6th grade readers and it has made a huge difference. I have extended it to have my higher level learners at signposts to their writing. - check out Heinemann signposts for notes and notice.

So helpful, thanks for sharing! Random question, does your school have a curriculum map? If not how do you make sure you will fit in all standards within the year as you plan? Thanks 😊

We have a certain reading curriculum, but I was thinking I could use this for the flex weeks we get or during reading work stations. Do the kids have to read the book outside of class or do you give them time in class to read and work on it?
