      The dig it out of the stream bed in front of the dam and over time can dig a very deep hole. We tore out a beaver dam so many times the beavers ended up dig a hole which was over 2 meters deep up stream of the dam.

    I understand digging down to make the channel as deep as possible to drain as much as possible, but why not pull some of the stuff on your left hand side into the stream of water to make the channel wider, so the bevers have a harder time building another dam?

    There are times when You should use a small backhoe to help clean out some of the banks. This would make it more difficult for the Beavers, to rebuild the Dam and help to remive the wood in the Dam.

    If they keep rebuilding you should look into installing a piece of pipe under the water level.

    Let me say that I have never opened up a beaver dam. I have always wondered why you don't clear the entire dam across the ditch/stream, also why you throw the large sticks and limbs right next to the opened dam, seems to me that it makes it easier for the beavers to rebuild.

    • @cathystewart3916
      @cathystewart3916 18 дней назад +2

      The beavers don’t reuse material that has “failed “. I watch several channels on beaver dams and I goggled it to confirm what these dam removers said.

    It just occurred to me we pay millions and billions of dollars to build dams. Why don't we just release hundreds of beavers where we want a dam? Just saying 😌

  • @terryhatcher9644
    @terryhatcher9644 17 дней назад

    Sure do wish there was a way to utilize all the sticks and logs you collect. Old farmers or country people don't burn them for heat? I know they are not big, and you say the beavers don't reuse them but they look like they clutter up the canal banks.
    The dam went quick today so I guess it's only worth a six pack of beer for the hard work. Drained fast also. Did you get the Elfa her ice cream?

    Is it possible to trap the beavers and move them to a less influential location as to be no harm to anything or anyone?

  • @stkyfngrszmooth
    @stkyfngrszmooth 18 дней назад

    Do you ever see fish after draining any of these beaver ponds? I'm just curious if there are any trout or other edible fish that could be fished out of these ponds by people like me.

    @stkyfngrszmooth 18 дней назад

    I think you'd benefit more from pulling from the base of the dam rather than from the top or middle. If the base gives out first, the rest will follow in the form of the entire dam collapsing instead of just some of it. Just my two cents. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Except when you see the amount of thick mud &/or sediment that has built up behind. As many times he can safely walk on the water side because it is so high.
