Hey Techland! While you're here, I'd like to suggest a small change that would make the dropkick feel so much more satisfying: Reduce hang time before the legs extend for the kick, currently you only start falling downwards AFTER Aiden has made the kick, but in DL1, you're falling downwards AS Crane makes the kick, and it makes it feel like there's more gravity and force behind the kick. Small change but since the dropkick is one of the most beloved combat mechanics of both games, I think it would be a very welcome change.

Kicking in dl1 felt real, even if all my weapons broke. I could always rely n kicking zombies into traps or dropkick them far away. Dl2 lacks that deep feeling of a satisfying kick.
THANK YOU! What the FUCK are techland doing its been more than 2 years and it still feels like a ps3 game. This game is incredibly worse than DL1 and techland does NOTHING to fix it. Don't tell me already implented updates are enough, it's like 3% of what the game really needs. I know there were some issues with the game's development director, but at this point it's just pure laziness. Just 1minute of DL1 gameplay is more immersive than the whole DL2 experience. Atm a couple of modders would do better in one week than the entirety of techland in 2 years. I think we players have also our responsabilities, we paid 70€ for a pre-pre-alpha game and said NOTHING, we let techland shit on us everyday and they don't mind doing it.
Have those things been implemented well though? The point is, adding weapons is cool, but they are all basically the same because they do the same damage to the enemies. Same spin, same flop, same diagonal cut. It all FEELS the same, that’s the issue. Even when they showed off firearms, they do the same damage that melee weapons do…? That’s why people complain. They release things half baked.
@@JayJay_18_ My friend, the things you’re talking about should’ve been implemented DAY 1. They took 2 YEARS (730 days) to add MORE THAN BASIC modifications. THEY DIDN’T EVEN FIX THE BITTERS GRAB AFTER ALL THIS TIME. And I remember a safe zone bug that literally made impossible for your to play the game, and they took 3 MONTHS to fix it. No fucking company even Ubisoft dared to shit up us like this
This was a very fair critique imo. Most of why the combat feels unsatisfying really does come down to the physics. I'm grateful for the gut feeling update, and with improved physics, I don't think there's much they would need to adjust there. I always thought comparing DL2 gore to DI2 was unfair, so I'm glad you recognized that techland can't simply copy their formula, even if it would be super cool. Ultimately, dynamics are what made DL1 feel so alive, so I hope techland can finally begin to bring them back into the sequel.
Oh yeah for sure it’d be impossible for them to implement such detailed gore without recreating the game, but there are some tricks they could do and ways to level it up jussst a little more. DYNAMIC is a word Techland has got to learn 😂
They have to add better sound to dismemberment. Its rather annoying to hear shngg sound while dismembering zombies i just want to hear realistic flesh and bone getting cut
Nice video! I would love a video focused on the changes that we'd like to see on the zombies, mainly their behavior. I just miss how the biters used to react on the first game, or how they just simply fall of a building, these tiny little details
They truly need to perfect Dying Light 2 and just copy paste all the good stuff into DL3 if they plan on making one. I really hope they don't mess up with the same mistake most AAA devs do.
"It's not about the updates and the content that you're adding - the foundation you're adding onto is very WEAK." This is the kicker here. Events are cool, content updates are cool, but if I'm having issues with the core gameplay every time I play DL2, I won't be having a great time and I won't have a reason to go back to the game once said events and content are complete.
Exactly. It will be the same cycle every time. I hope there is a possibility of these things getting fixed, but it almost seems out of the realm of possibilities by this point. Who knows, maybe they’ll come out with physics/gore/gameplay tweaks by the release of DLC2. If not… Idk. I’ll just be waiting for Dying Light 3.
Heavily underrated video. Couldnt agree more with everything you said as well! Hope everything you said will be mentioned in future updates and it will made dying light a true masterpiece of zombie games
I think they should rework or at least add more animation for the axes to feel more powerful and make new ones for heavy axes And rework the long blunt weapons. With the cross hair hud hidden I have trouble hitting the infected due to the circular windup
They need to increase the dismemberment chance to match dl1 for sure, also make it so you can dismember multiple zombies with one swing. The models are another issue with the zombies imo, they're very small compared to dl1s counterparts and look more homeless than dead. The biggest issue however is the fact that there are no zombies, there is no place like the bridge or old town square in dl2 and there are generally less in the streets, they should atleast fill out the interiors with the zombies like what was shown at e3
I agree with this, they’re not scary at all they’re all skinny looking bums 😂 And I also agree the density of the infected is not representative of an ENTIRE CITY!
@@jordanberry2358 erm... pc actually🤓 Still the amount of zombies is very disappointing. I don't mind a more human focused game like e3 showed if it's well made, which dl2 is not so there could atleast be more zombies around
Ngl i tryed to play DL2 recently, and overall the game is not bad, but their is so much major problems to be played already for me, the gore isn't the biggest issue tho, so i hope a lot of other things will be fixed soon, so we can enjoy this game like we enjoyed the 1st one ! Physics is a good first step tho, will see whats upcomign next.
I read somewhere where it was said dying light 2 engine is a lot less limited than dying light 1 engine (physic and ragdoll wise) and the reason why they don't use this to their advantage is either the devs are not experienced/newbie or they just don't care about it at all
Great vid I agree with everything you said they really need to fix the physics explosions are also quite bad. The copied sound and almost no visible damage to the infected.
One thing on the execution/finisher front is the frequency. It seems at most, random. The first game did a really great job with it. You knew when or how to initiate a finisher when desired, it added a more diverse combat system. the animation also changed quite frequently as well, whereas in DL2, I seem to always get the same "hit them in the side, then hit them in the head", rarely ever getting anything else. I also feel like even when I get an enemy to low health, or stagger them, I get no prompt to initiate the execution.
I'm glad I'm finally seeing some stuff addressing this. I couldn't finish DL2. Everything felt just a little undercooked. Stuff like unlocking high-jump at the beginning, being able to skip jump puzzles with it, just made me not really care about it all that much.
5:44 you could actually do this but it’s kinda rare you gotta him them with a blunt weapon and their arms just be dangling that they don’t can’t use it even tho the arm doesn’t work anymore
The thing is, the dead kick reactions were better at launch, they actually had a pretty decent reaction but for some reason they removed the ragdoll physics for kicking.
Not to be this way... But, Dying Light 1 is just... Better. From the start. They had it. They tried to capitalize off of that popularity, and it didn't go to plan. Sure they can update, patch, and fix things. But, like you said, The foundation isn't there. When making the second game, they should've honestly Pulled a COD, and just copied and pasted the basic game mechanics over and gave this new version a fresh coat of paint. It's what COD does and it works. For the most part... It is still flawed though. This was also a really refreshing video to see. I'm so tired of seeing virtual gore be censored. So this was a breath of fresh air. I really don't get why RUclips made that change. But... I'd rather not get into that stuff. Out of fear due to comments getting deleted. Peace man. Good video, keep it up.
The physics in Dying Light one could be copied over but the way they setup the zombie's physics in dying light 1 was by pretty much making the ragdolls lighter when they ragdoll yet are very heavy while standing aswell as there being physics assisted deaths. In DL2 it happens the same way because they get heavier by the same amount each time though DL1 did it randomly and DL2 uses set animations not physics assisted.
I swear this guy never has a bad opinion. Honestly I hope they change the flashlight. In the first game it's really good. In the second game I find myself not using the flashlight because it makes the game look ass 😂. Dynamic flashlight shadows would be so nice. I also LOVED the effects used in the first game, but the second games' effect look low resolution and bad if you don't use motion blur. Literally everything this guy says is true. The also need to add the ability to turn any weapon into a blueprint. Some of the weapon designs in the game look fucking amazing, but they do like 300 damage 😢
The viral tackle pisses me off so much I’ll dodge almost perfectly try to get a swing in and as soon as I’m closer I get tackled even tho the animation is over
The ragdoll physics is the #1 priority for me personally. I would spend hours on DL1 just fighting hordes and enjoying every minute of it. Seeing repetitive animations in DL2 just made me want to engage with it less. Instead I groan whenever a viral screams because I know if I stay in the area it will just feel like a slog to fight all the incoming zombies. Many aspects of DL2 improved over the original but the melee combat which is what you spend a majority of the game doing, is needing some love. Fortunately Techland appears to be the type of development team to care about this and have been making improvements so we can be hopeful that it will be improved.
I wish they could make finishers easier to do because I just one hit everything and yes they added it to where if you perfect dodge or perfect block you can get a finisher. I still can’t get one because they just stagger while in the first game it was way easier to do
sad to see that physics are still an issue within dying light 2 even after they got updated they should have just copy paste dl1 physics and I'm sure no one would have been mad with that
Also can you make a video on some quality of life changes like activities around the being more noticeable without having to have my radar on cause I like to play with my hud off but when I’m running around it’s hard to really notice with events go off around the map unless u have the radar on to see the blue icon where the event is and that’s kinda annoying.
"No puddles of blood" while literally showing a puddle of blood spilling from zombie... Honestly I think most things you covered you're just nitpicking for no good reason, except viral leap, that one needs fixing. There are so many more important things to fix/implement than what you've covered
I had a feeling this was gonna come up, I was talking about by the severed limbs. Yes there are puddles but they are thin and flat and are basically the same thing every time.
Well I sorta understand stand the blood bc in dl1 most people haven’t been infected for more than 2 months but in dl2 they may have been for up to 11 years
For me the most annoying issues are 3 of them. Night exposure meter is just annoying and very hard to deal with when playing coop. Sure it gives sense of urgency, but it discourages exploration. Second is the whole 'cinematic' experience. I was groaning at lengthy cutscenes in the first game and constantly being ripped from control. Second game makes that even worse. You are dealing with so many characters that it starts to matter less whether their writing is good or bad, you just can't get invested with so many of them. It is the TV series curse of having too many characters to a point where you just dont care. Third - confusing difficulty with annoying. Escalating horde numbers and special infested spawns - difficulty. Night exposure, aimbot leaps, grab animations - annoying.
Aye congratulations pn 1k subs my man! I agree with you the ragdolls in dl2 is always the same as if its been precooked and the blood decals in dl1 is realistic asf but in dl2 its goofy asf
All they need to adjust is the flashlight brightness and quality, a bug with the self changing color filter when entering or leaving buildings, kick impact, memory leaks when using DX12 and lots of general optimizations. Other that that maybe more HUD options so I can turn off the annoying white blobs on screen when near enemies and adjust the opacity of markers.
honestly i wish it was talked about more in games that have "finisher" mechanics to just vary them alot more! if its something thats going to occur a lot in gameplay there needs to be a variety. multiple per weapon on each different style of enemy.
I feel like Dying Light 2 is more of a project than it ever was a sequel. Buncha new guys at techland, wanna make a game, pick up an ip and try to do that same thing from scratch, as a project. They have ambitious ideas for how to make the first game better, but neglected the foundation to the detriment of their ambition. That’s just my hunch.
I don’t know why they didn’t just take what they had in the first game and build upon it. Instead they tried to remake it from the ground up and it sucks
Yep and they know they fucked up that’s why they’re adding all this shit that should have been in the game at launch roaming volatiles, better gore, better parkour
basically what apparently happened was the main developer and producer/designer of the game had apparently legal troubles regarding a sexual assault so they let him go, that's why if you look the first trailers look alot different. way better graphics etc, practically looks like dl1 but with better graphics and takes place in the dl2 map with brighter colours than the first, that is it. The. game never had the weird cartoon look it has now. Apparently the guy was proven innocent however they had already told him he has to go due to the nature of the crime.
What DL2 gore needs is sound change, dynamic blood which looks better in DL1, Also a bit more realistic dismemberment (I hate dismembering zombies in half with a machete it's so unrealistic) DL2 E3 almost did it too great which was realistic, heavy but also brutal I hope they will remove that whoosh and shoong sound from melee weapons like machete and baseball bats so we can hear gore sound and not annoying anime sound
1,000,000% agree. changing the physics and gore in a more realistic manner would make an entirely new game. we need this! techland pleeaaseee!!!!! save uuuuusss!
Also sound effects should be satisfying too. I dont like hearing goofy sound effects when cutting or beating a zombie. All i want to hear is flesh or bone getting cut like how it was in e3 or Dl1
Dying light needs a ragdoll system, it is obviously too late now but it is a must in maybe the next dying light 3, dead island 2 physics were lame to be honest i hated how it feels in that same repetitive finish move with blunt weapons

Kicking in dl1 felt real, even if all my weapons broke. I could always rely n kicking zombies into traps or dropkick them far away. Dl2 lacks that deep feeling of a satisfying kick.
2:16 This made me laugh very hard for no reason
Hahaha why 😂
Just the way he spins around@@jdauk04
You need to hit the director up sir because everything you pointed out is on point i 100000. % agree
hahaha thank you!
I think we players have also our responsabilities, we paid 70€ for a pre-pre-alpha game and said NOTHING, we let techland shit on us everyday and they don't mind doing it.
wait until bro finds out they released 2 community updates in 2023 and the whole 2023 roadmap was entirely made of community feedback 😱😱
I think I’ve got something coming up in the next couple weeks that is in that ball park. Stay tuned!
I personally still miss the x ray from DL 1 and the finisher where you stab a sword or knife though a zombies chest when you jump down on them
They truly need to perfect Dying Light 2 and just copy paste all the good stuff into DL3 if they plan on making one.
@@jdauk04 Yeah you and me both
Heavily underrated video. Couldnt agree more with everything you said as well! Hope everything you said will be mentioned in future updates and it will made dying light a true masterpiece of zombie games
Thank you so much I really appreciate that
I think they should rework or at least add more animation for the axes to feel more powerful and make new ones for heavy axes
And rework the long blunt weapons. With the cross hair hud hidden I have trouble hitting the infected due to the circular windup
I like this
They need to increase the dismemberment chance to match dl1 for sure, also make it so you can dismember multiple zombies with one swing.
Dude what game are you playing "there are no zombies" they're fucking everywhere and mostly in hordes of like 30 or 40
@@Glenn_Quagmirefr is he on last gen?
I agree with this, they’re not scary at all they’re all skinny looking bums 😂 And I also agree the density of the infected is not representative of an ENTIRE CITY!
he has a point tho, compared to what was originally advertised. And for what it’s worth I agree with him, I am on a Series X, supposedly “next gen”
@@jordanberry2358 erm... pc actually🤓 Still the amount of zombies is very disappointing. I don't mind a more human focused game like e3 showed if it's well made, which dl2 is not so there could atleast be more zombies around
I think if they add the bloody summer effect that made dismemberment happen pretty much all the time it would make the game much much better.
Ngl i tryed to play DL2 recently, and overall the game is not bad, but their is so much major problems to be played already for me, the gore isn't the biggest issue tho, so i hope a lot of other things will be fixed soon, so we can enjoy this game like we enjoyed the 1st one ! Physics is a good first step tho, will see whats upcomign next.
they should do the gore like in dead island 2 there, its amazing looking and is satisfying.
Another thing lately it been feeling like I get stuck out of nowhere when I’m fluently trying get some parkour clips🤦🏾♂️
wish I could send this video straight to techland. the game has come a long way but this video covers basically everything left that needs fixing
I read somewhere where it was said dying light 2 engine is a lot less limited than dying light 1 engine (physic and ragdoll wise) and the reason why they don't use this to their advantage is either the devs are not experienced/newbie or they just don't care about it at all
That is actually so interesting, I would love to see the source of this to maybe bring it up in a new video? 👀
@@jdauk04 I unfortunately forgot where I read it tho sorry 🥲
Great vid I agree with everything you said they really need to fix the physics
explosions are also quite bad. The copied sound and almost no visible damage to the infected.
Good point!🤔 Thank you for the support!
5:44 you could actually do this but it’s kinda rare you gotta him them with a blunt weapon and their arms just be dangling that they don’t can’t use it even tho the arm doesn’t work anymore
yes that’s right it is in the game! i remember the first time i saw it i was like omg what!!! but it is like one in a million chance of happening
@@jdauk04it's pretty easy to do if you just aim for the arms
I kept trying to get a clip for it in a short form video once when I first saw it was in the game. Couldn’t get it for hours😟
GREAT POINTS! Hope they listen. I'm still playing dying light 1 for the 3rd time after playing dying light 2 twice.
thank you! i hope they listen as well
I swear if I see the "bee stings guy" event one more time or the "Hi Sarah" event I am going to cry
me too i was gonna make a short about this😂
Bros video quality is THIS good and he doesn’t have 1k subs????
you’re too kind😊 We’ll be there soon!
Part of the reason I don’t play dl2 as often as I used to is because of everything stated in this video and also I’m waiting for guns to be added
The thing is, the dead kick reactions were better at launch, they actually had a pretty decent reaction but for some reason they removed the ragdoll physics for kicking.
I absolutely loved dead island 2, Haven't had that much fun in a single player game in a long time!
I have not gotten a chance to play it yet… I hope I can soon
Played DL2 on release, it was OK. I am playing it again almost two years later and it’s a totally different game!
theyve surely improved it a lot!
Peace man. Good video, keep it up.
i totally agree, thank you for the support!😄😄
The physics in Dying Light one could be copied over but the way they setup the zombie's physics in dying light 1 was by pretty much making the ragdolls lighter when they ragdoll yet are very heavy while standing aswell as there being physics assisted deaths. In DL2 it happens the same way because they get heavier by the same amount each time though DL1 did it randomly and DL2 uses set animations not physics assisted.
Finisher idea for volatiles like grabbing the broken jaw parts and just ripping them off being a unarmed finisher
I appreciate that, I’m glad we can agree on these things😂 Righhht there are so many cool weapons that just don’t do any damage
This right here is what i need the ragdoll from d1 and literally just molish zombies so grateful. I need that again
This still needs some attention. Use the first games mechanics. We just has the 2nd anniversary and it's still rough!
Death Animations from dying to different enemies would be great. Something like Dead Space. Can really showcase how vile the enemies are.
Never thought of this… good idea🧐
The viral tackle pisses me off so much I’ll dodge almost perfectly try to get a swing in and as soon as I’m closer I get tackled even tho the animation is over
it’s the worst part of the game
I can definitely see the difference of blood and gore... Especially the ragdolls, it's just not satisfying enough in dying light 2
Exactly what I think!
I still can’t get one because they just stagger while in the first game it was way easier to do
Dying Light 2 parkour with dead island 2 gore. Perfection
We can only dream.
5:55 once I did an X ray attack on a zombie and it’s arm broke and it was dangling and the zombie wouldn’t use the broken arm to attack
Yes i’ve been messing around with this as well😂
Thx to everybody who's involved creating and bringing this game to it's current state
The swing animations play a strong factor into this.
Others have felt the same way, maybe they could touch up those animations as well!
Thank you jdauk for provid ❤
you’re welcome my friend
You put it perfectly when it comes to how amazing DL1 is compared to DL2. Awesome work. I wish Dying Light 2 was just as good as the original.
DL1 physics and Rockstar's Rage engine are the best I have experienced ever
dying light 2 zombies+ dying light gore and physics would be peak
ABSOLUTELY
Would love to see blood footprints after stepping in blood pools, would be a nice lil touch
Keep up the great work man! You’re my favorite dying light channel right now
thank you so much!😁 Have you joined the Discord?👀
@@jdauk04 Nah, I don’t use discord :0)
sad to see that physics are still an issue within dying light 2 even after they got updated they should have just copy paste dl1 physics and I'm sure no one would have been mad with that
Also can you make a video on some quality of life changes like activities around the being more noticeable without having to have my radar on cause I like to play with my hud off but when I’m running around it’s hard to really notice with events go off around the map unless u have the radar on to see the blue icon where the event is and that’s kinda annoying.
Already in the backlog of ideas 🙃
Isn't there always a sound for when an event starts?
Yeah it’s super annoying😭 But ik this is technically something that would be a solution to that comment.
Im so happy that you suggested this i been noticing that combat ragdolls have been fixed this update ♥️
Once again I complettly agree with everything said, well done
Thank you!😄
For the demolisher and goon I think a finisher where Aiden climbs on them or something like that would be cool
I have been watching ur vids and i gotta say ur spitting keep up man the good work
thank you so much for the support!!!
Well I sorta understand stand the blood bc in dl1 most people haven’t been infected for more than 2 months but in dl2 they may have been for up to 11 years
Aren’t more people getting infected tho?😀 The virals for example would be closest to their human form.
Thank you for the support!
This is a really good video, hope it gets more views/traction and that devs notice it.
I hope so too, thank you for the compliment 😊
I feel like Dying Light 2 is more of a project than it ever was a sequel. Buncha new guys at techland, wanna make a game, pick up an ip and try to do that same thing from scratch, as a project. They have ambitious ideas for how to make the first game better, but neglected the foundation to the detriment of their ambition. That’s just my hunch.
Beautifully written… wow. I know nothing about what they did but this looks like it could perfectly sum up what happened. Genuinely perfect comment
The thing they downgraded the game too much even 2021 version which was even superior had better graphics, etc, skybox
I kinda looking forward they add something like FLEX that Killing Floors 2 added, makes the blood literally dripping down on the ground
I don’t know why they didn’t just take what they had in the first game and build upon it. Instead they tried to remake it from the ground up and it sucks
Yep and they know they fucked up that’s why they’re adding all this shit that should have been in the game at launch roaming volatiles, better gore, better parkour
Amaizing video.I love when I see videos that address my taste in video games
Really great video man. Well explained
Glad you liked it!
I hope they also change the voice of the normal zombie that roams in day time,
Amazing everything you said is true 100% you have my full support and you should share your video with techland so they can see the problems.
Much appreciated
basically what apparently happened was the main developer and producer/designer of the game had apparently legal troubles regarding a sexual assault so they let him go, that's why if you look the first trailers look alot different. way better graphics etc, practically looks like dl1 but with better graphics and takes place in the dl2 map with brighter colours than the first, that is it. The. game never had the weird cartoon look it has now. Apparently the guy was proven innocent however they had already told him he has to go due to the nature of the crime.
They need to fix the BUGS. I am unable to platinum because multiple trophies are simply unobtainable and broken!
I've NEVER played a game before where my literally playstation trophies were unobtainable because of bugs. Never.
I have really been wanting a sound change too.
@@jdauk04 I hope Techland will also notice comments and also notice your parkour videos as well.
All i want to hear is flesh or bone getting cut like how it was in e3 or Dl1
they need to fix the shadow animations the outfits hoods don’t have a shadow so it makes it look like he’s bald with nothing on
Funny thing is you can see your character's shadow more accurate when using photo mode
Dying light needs a ragdoll system, it is obviously too late now but it is a must in maybe the next dying light 3, dead island 2 physics were lame to be honest i hated how it feels in that same repetitive finish move with blunt weapons
yes
