- Got out on to Lake Waccamaw to check out what the fish had been up to. I had been about 6-7 months since I've been out here, and I was a little worried about how much of the lake had been taken over by grass. Fortunately, the cold seems to have kept the grass at bay which let me get my lures right in their faces. Teh fish were not shy at all about biting, and I ended up catching quite a few on both the rattle trap and the jerkbait.
I enjoy kayak fishing. You can get to where others can't. I have never seen Large Mouth caught out in the open lake. Wow...
It's pretty awesome to be able to sneak up on them in the backwaters with the yak. The open lakes are fun as long as the weather is right! I pay close attention to the weather when I go, got to be careful, but you can find some big schools of fish out there!
Hey brother! Is there anything I should lookout for across that lake? Stumps, sandbars, rocks ETC? Ill be fishing it for the first time this year on a 15 foot aluminum. Just wondering if I can run the lake worry free? Great video
There's a big sandbar right out in front of the big creek ramp but other than that the lake is pretty wide open. There are a lot of telephone poles ringing the lake that mark where it's safe to run as well. No rocks or stumps out there that I've ever seen
@@Whamfishing good deal. Thank you my man. You got a subscriber.
Thanks man, I hear the grass is coming back out there and it makes it a little tougher but it's still a great lake, good luck!
Whats your favorite rod and reel combo?
There's 3-4 favorites I have lol but if I had to pick one. It's probably the NRX+ 894c with the Metanium MGL 150XB
I haven't fished this lake yet cause i hear it can get really rough. I kayak fish also and and been nervous about going here. Any advice? I want to crappie and white perch there
I'm actually heading there right now lol it can get rough so I pay very close attention to the weather, if it's forecast for anything over 7-8mph I shy away. It's not a lot, but being a big bowl can generate some big swells. For crappie and white perch, most of the year you can catch crappie in big creek without having to venture out. The white perch and big crappie live out in the main lake around the brush piles and cover people have dropped out there though, so a sidescan unit is very helpful out there.
@@Whamfishing thanks for the info i will have to make the venture out there and try it some time
Any size in that lake
I've caught a bunch of 7s out of there, heard of some 8-9s but not too often. I usually catch the bigger ones in the summer though
@@Whamfishingok I normally go down to Holden beach I might have to fish it just didn’t want to fish for dinks
Now is a good time to go fish the grass beds around the rim of the lake as they come up to spawn. White lake is another good one to check out for some good fish too, $10 launch fee but that keeps the fishing pressure down
Gett'm!!
