You can gather with your serger. Pull threads 1 & 2, just tie off the opposite end before pulling. Also, doing the patchwork parts with your serger, will keep the dress from unraveling from the inside. Cute dress!
thanks! it turned out pretty cute. I don't think I'd have the patience to sew one for myself, lol, but using this technique for a dress for my daughter is actually very doable and would mean using lots of the scraps I've been saving!
Wow this dress is awesome! I can't wait to make this! It will be my first dress on like 30 years.... Cross my fingers. Thank you for a great pattern and tutorial!
This is phenomenal!! Thank you for all the detail and for sharing. I watched the tik tok series closely and am so grateful for this in depth tutorial! I have started my own version of this dress!
I don’t know if I’ve done this wrong and given myself more work but I’ve got two back panels 😂 I counted everything as well I don’t know why I’ve done that
Adorable! Can you post a link to the colored/printed fabric you used for the patchwork squares? I love all the colors you used and I’m attempting to make a quilt for my new baby! I also bought the Syd pattern and am starting today - your video tutorials sold me!
I'm almost done quilting all of the patchwork panels! I feel like your cuts look so much neater than mine. I had a hard time with the linen viscose because it stretched a little. Do you have any tips for cutting straighter and more accurately?
Yay!!! I’m so excited to make my own! I’m making one for my baby shower and an going to try to make a mini one for my daughter to have when she’s born

Absolutely beautiful. I will make one sometime . . .
meanwhile I will be making the squares when I got time.
Such a fun project. I’m glad you did it.

Omg such a beautiful dress
Gorgeous! What Seam allowance did you use for the patchwork squares? Quarter or scant quarter inch?
Quarter inch! So sorry I forgot to mention that!
I don’t know if I’ve done this wrong and given myself more work but I’ve got two back panels 😂 I counted everything as well I don’t know why I’ve done that

I actually cut all those squares and linked the fabrics in this video here! ruclips.net/video/rW6kpXrk7X0/видео.html
Super cute!

I ride or die for my cutting mat, rotary cutter and straight edge combo. Make cutting sooo easy. They're all linked in my amazon storefront!
Beautiful ❤
Vestido maravilhoso!!!! ❤
I know you said use lightweight for the white but is quilting cotton okay for the colourful quilt fabric?
Did you pre-wash all of your fabric?? I started to cut my squares and thought about it after the fact
You should be OK not washing, since it's loose fitting.
If it was like a blouse, somewhat form fitting, it could shrink a whole size and be a problem.
hi! what is the seam allowance when sewing the squares together?
1/4”!
Looks lovely but I honestly couldn't see myself going through all of that!
