This was so funny. After an hour of us just talking, and Marty not eating, he finally said "this is just too good for me." We all cracked up and my mom made him a turkey sandwich. This might have been the same evening that we were all trying to think of a good band name. My dad said, "Burn the Ground." We didn't like it, but Marty went home and wrote most of the song, Burn the Ground.

@@gregmartinez5836 Seen Megadeath many times live but did not ever catch up by Marty's most friendly and sweet character. Hè it was death metal those days, been backstage alot of times( not Megadeath) but have not lower myself as groupie, I only came there to have a drink and talk with them, also with the roadies. I was always looking and interested for the soul behind the rockstars, never had the change of meeting Marty unfortunately. What a sweet guy he is and how he talks to his "brother" Jason, loved this short video. 🇳🇱🌬💞

Awesome Story .I’m at a total emotional loss for words..We lost our 23 year old son Michael in a car accident in July.. Since then I’ve had incredible breakthroughs in playing... My son was much more naturally talented than his Dad.. But sometimes I sit and weep with gratitude after playing riff becomes natural.. Gratitude. Thank you for the music Jason 🎶. Its truly my healing ☮️💟🎸💯👊🏻
I lost my beautiful amazing mum on 3rd July, and I can say that things have happened that I simply cannot explain, right from the very moment she died and ever since. Your son is alive and well around you, just not in physical human form. Like you I constantly say aloud that I am the luckiest guy ever, to have been blessed with the mum I had. Bless you Steve and also your son. Now go and continue his life's work on the guitar!

Oh my gosh, this is hilarious. And Jason, your mom seemed very sweet when I spoke with her on the phone once many years ago. I called because I wanted to take guitar lessons from you, having heard that you were teaching private students, and your mom spoke with me on the phone and said you weren't home at the time. I can't put my finger on it, but I just remember her seeming very sweet, very loving and inviting. Well, I never took any lessons from you, and never got to meet you in person, but we all love you very dearly and are extremely inspired by you.
Cacophony was really Awesome... That years were awesome... What's happening today? We need to move and do something!!!! Thank you all to be a Wonderfull inspiration
There is a Lot out there, you just have to search for it. People are doing things still. But yea, Cacophony made a huge impact on me as a young player in the 80's.

This is a really genuine story, with great delivery by Marty! Was I the only one slightly distracted by the eye coverings?
No so was I. Maybe in case he shed a tear but JasonS story is tragic but his motivation to not let anything deter him from living his life and making awesome awesome music is an emotional topic in a good way.

What an awesome story. Marty my friend and I met you back in the late 80s. You went over to his brothers house in Randallstown, Maryland. His name is Jason Mitchell. We just watched in awe seeing you play. We were just teenagers that loved playing guitar and we always loved your playing and Jason Becker is so phenomenal with his guitar playing. You both are truly amazing guitar players and song writers. Jason Becker is so inspiring and we love him and his music. Seth got to tour with Michael Schenker in Japan in 1997.

The best duo in the world Jason and Marty
Those 2 made a huge impact on me and my best friend when we were kids. We were hugely inspired by thrash and death metal bands in our rhythm guitar work in the 80's, but is was Cacophony that started us playing intricate solos together, harmonized and with counterpoint etc. I have to agree, best guitar duo ever. ^-^

Me and my friends grew up on Jason Becker and Marty Friedman (mid-nineties). They were role models for us.
Becker's first album is one of the best made. We even had a guitar teacher who taught Jason's works :)

Amazing how Marty lives in Japan and eats all the strange food over there but he can’t eat an egg🤣
What's more bizarre is how big adding egg and raw egg to your food, is in Japan. They have a different standard there(testing standards for whats allowed to go out bacteria wise), so eating raw eggs is usually okay. But I'm guessing Marty watching everyone put egg and raw egg into their rice and food, probably grosses him out.

lol. I had the same kind of experience with a friend's mom who cooked us dinner. I don't eat certain fish so, I told them. My friend didn't believe me. One time he came over and my mom cooked us fish. It was his turn to tell us that he doesn't eat fish because he's afraid of choking on the bones. Bleh. :p
