Old vs New Baseball Gloves... Old ball gloves were not exactly the best tools in the world. But we had to start somewhere. The modern day baseball glove is pretty much the perfect tool. I don't believe there will be any more dramatic changes but I would love to be proven wrong! On top of that our understanding of throwing and fielding mechanics has also majorly increased. In the end we are much better off than those who were playing baseball 100 years ago or even 50 years ago. Go talk to a family member like your dad and grandpa and ask them about their glove and what it was like back when they were a kid. It's truly amazing how much the world has changed and how the game has changed with it!

No way that’s 40’s or 50’s. At least 30’s and most likely 20’s. Nice piece. In 1950 the Wilson glove makers, engineers and some executives traveled the country to talk to the major leaguers about what they would prefer for there specific positions versus a pillow with a strap holding two fingers together. Thats how the A2000 model was made to be built different based on positions.

My best advice is go to a store and feel both, they are both amazing gloves
HOTH all day. From day one to retiring just another fish in the pond of the minors it was always Rawlings. Both are freaking money, I feel Rawlings pretty much across the board have a little more flex to them.
Love your videos. Growing up playing baseball I didn't have a lot of money to buy quality gloves wish this was around when I was younger

My dad, born in 1913 had an ancient 4 finger "mitt"..... He always said you have to trap the ball with you other hand. The mitt just stopped the ball, but the pocket wouldn't really hold it because there really wasn't a modern pocket.

If you are using an old glove it should be in like new condition. Definitely replace the glove. The leather looses a lot of strength after 70-80 years, so the glove will degrade quickly. I have one from the 40s and one from the 50s I use on occasion.
