Abandoned Backyard MTB Trail gets Rebuilt and SHREDDED!

- Last year we built a 1/4 mile flow trail in my backyard. On this trail I created some of the craziest features I could think of: an arrow jump, step-ups, whale tail and many others. We are rebuilding my backyard mountain bike trail after it has been neglected for 8 months and riding it with new friends and old ones!

i think the overgrowth now lining the trail now makes it look even better ngl
Dude, you need to cut a very basic XC climbing trail/loop to take you back to the top. If you don't have to get off and walk back up, I think you'd be more encouraged to ride it more.
I’ve got a side trail but it needs some lovin’ as well. Regardless, your totally right.
Home made bar pull lift.
Thanks for showing this rebuild. It’s inspiring! I’m a trail builder in Colorado trying to restore trails in the East Troublesome Fire area. This video makes me want to keep getting out there and make things better.
Well hell yea! That’s so rad. Well, keep getting out there cause you da real inspiration ✊
@@BackyardTrailBuilds How much does it cost to make a trail like this ? Im thinking of making one myself!
@@spirittube9602 the trails I have made have costed 10,000s of thousands but I have a full scale bike park. a small scale project is more into the 100-500 range with all the machines and purchased dirt.
@@harlanbleier6229 Dollar or Pounds?
i was near the east troublesome fire. i lived in granby.
Your honesty is one of the huge reasons I love your channel. A lot of people are afraid to admit they are nervous but everyone gets nervous. This is a trail of huge features and from the videos you looked to be absolutely shredding it. Also so satisfying to watch you clear the weeds from the trail and make it come back alive.
It is neat to see your riding progress with your trail building! You look so comfortable on these big hits now compared to your earlier videos.
And as always, music is ON POINT. You continue to have the best soundtracks of any RUclips channel.
Yo dude! Thanks a lot! I don’t get a lot of time to ride normally but I’m glad I’m finally starting to look like I’m not a total novice haha.
Your backyard trails are pure dreams, music and storytelling on point. Always get excited when you upload!
Thanks so much! Extremely kind words that I do appreciate!
Stoked to see you bring some life back into this beast of a trail.
I've just recently become addicted to watching mountain biking vids, and watching this now makes me want to build my own trail so I can attempt to not kill myself. Great vid!!
I think that trail needed to be over grown then brought back and tuned up. Having the vegetation right back to the edge of the single track really makes it feel right. Great job, I know you’ve mentioned it being a hard few months. I hope you are finding some peace and purpose. We will all be here when you want to upload more but don’t stress about it.
Awesome. Great to see the trail again. Looks very cool all overgrown. This series is one of the few inspirations that got me out filming my own backyard trail, so a huge thanks for that! Keep it up.
Am I the only one that wanted to see him ride that trail with all the greenery?
kinda disappointed we didn't get to vote on what your gonna add next.
but the trails looken mint😁
That rake lying with its teeth pointing up on 4:25 gave me goosebumps. I need to talk with your Director of Safety.
Good Quality overlasts time. Great Job!
walking barefoot in that untouched vegetation is low key giving me anxiety (I have an irrational fear of ticks)
I was more concerned about him swinging shovels and rakes and hoes at the ground with no shoes on
Yeah no shit. Warts, ticks, fire ants, amputations.
Cool
I grew up in a fairly rural area and I can confirm it’s a normal thing to go barefoot outside, no matter where you go. You get massive calluses on your feet so you don’t get full feeling. I would get back from full days spent in our thicket of oaks and my feet would be bloody but I just wouldn’t feel anything. I’ve never gotten ticks, even in summer, but I’ve gotten a large number of infections. When I moved closer to the city I was surprised how many people have concerns like yours (probably from a lack of experience with such issues). People just tended to shy away from wooded or overgrown areas, and that was weird to me as my rural friends and I would always play in stuff like that. City people always seem to be so adverse to mild discomforts, even getting a little dirty, getting small cuts, etc. sets them off. Fun fact: Bugs are the funniest to watch them deal with.
@@shaunf.516 Yeah there's some truth to it but people act like everytime you step in the mud you're gonna get ringworm. It's ridiculous.
6:56 after you scrape it water it and put lime on it!! It will make it rock hard and extremely hard for grass to grow back!
Awesome to know! I too am building trails and this will help out a lot! Thank you!
@@TimberRides oh yeah brother! Use the ground up powder and wear gloves and spray painter painters mask! You have enough down when it looks like Tony sneezed !!
Awesome I will do it! Probably not tomorrow unless I can find it tonight but next time I am on the trails for sure!
I love how organic and natural your trails are! No plastic no rubber, just your local tree wood and the soil. Love it! And it is so satisfying to see you clean up all the weed by hand!
If you want an idea have always had this cool thought that if you took a berm and you made a landing on the landing on the other side of it and used the berm as the jump you could create sort of a two way thing.
I made a berm kind of like this, it’s almost a complete circle or most of a figure 8 that doesn’t touch. And then where it nearly pinches you can jump the pinch ride it backwards then after coming around jump at the same pinch but perpendicular this time to continue down the trail going forwards.
You’re a better rider than you think 👌🏽 Just enjoy it and never put too much pressure on yourself 🙌🏽
I watched you back when you made this series and its crazy how much better you have goten
Absolutely awesome you made that trail look brand new again
I love how nature retakes what its hers
I have waited forever!!! Amazing content!!👏
Love the work boots!
I really like your style of videos and your positive and inspiring attitude towards trail building and MTB. You have showed me a lot of tips and tricks in trail building that I will take with me when I build my own trail.
Keep doing what you do. You are awesome! 🤘
It’s amazing how nature took the trail almost completely over in the span of 8 months. The beauty of this planet is amazing. 😁 Keep up the great work!
not gonna lie this was sad to see a great trail look like this we all missed this keep it up mate.
I get what your saying, but after he cleaned it up, it looks so awesome now!
@@mattspen indeed it was a very wanted topic because trails like that deserve no better than peak performance.
This trail looks so sick, and the creative approach to every feature built is awesome. You look like you've progressed a lot in that time away from this trail, which is also awesome to see. I think it's time to build a second full length subscriber trail next ti this one for your next phase of progression 👍
Nice to see the new trail.. with all the green grass at the side.. ilikeit
him: rebuilds the jumps and makes a video out of it
Me: what da dog doin
Just found this little series. Absolutely outstanding, is a work of art and wish I could ride this! Very well presented too, great work, from New Zealand
It's very brave of you to ride features that you build when they are the biggest you've ever ridden. I would probably want them to be public well know features if they are pushing my limits a bit.
It’s cool to see how much your riding has improved! You look so smooth and comfortable on these features now it’s really awesome!
Great video. The trail looks amazing and rides very well. Thank you for sharing and your level of effort is much appreciated.
This man has the strongest back in existence!
I remember voting on these, haven't watched your channel in a bit after quitting MTB and switching to dirt bikes this was recommended to me and man, good times.
Love it! Always good to get out and ride! I forget to do video stuff all the time because I am having so much fun!
Guess this is what I also have to look forward to when I get my trail ready ....
Just waiting for monsoon season to get over to get the build started ...
Thanks for these super informative vids
Wonderful trtail.
Soooo nice! It looks very nice through the grass!!👌👍🏼
Keep riding it!. Love your trail build videos... love the riding vids as well.
You're such a great builder!! I would love to have a backyard like yours, i would be out riding it every day. :)
you have inspired me to make a track in my back yard! I started on it yesterday. I have a small area to work with and its flat. but im excited to build it and ride next spring/ summer. its winter here (michigan). thanks !
That looks so sick now!!
sick man can't wait for some more building and riding episodes
Super cool seeing how it looked after a year of sitting.
You have to get Seth over and have him session it too!!! That would be awesome!!
So smooth 😄🔥
Awesome trail!!!!!!🙌🏻🤘🏻👏
these videos are so amazing and inspiring even though we are building dirt jumps
You look more comfortable jumpiing now! More stylish! :)
Yes! Thank you! Im tryin here! haha
The trail look so good 👌

Awesome trail dude! Quite creative!

Really inspiring that you came back after abandoning it!
Amazing video, loved it!!
Good Job🤙🏻🤙🏻

Keep up the good work man!! Also great work ethic too!!
This is awesome!
Great video. Love the Maintain-not build approach here! Also, some of those music clips were absolute killers!
Can’t wait for the next video
Elliot 🔥🔥🔥
Nice you are coming back to that trail the subscriber trail series is what made me come across your trail and I'm happy i clicked on the first video
I really want to try that trail now
I’m starting a single track in Melbourne with 12 of my other mates inspired by this
Yooo Seth watching this video today I couldn’t believe how much you have progressed you look completely comfortable on the bike and in the air mind blowing that I started watching this channel about 2 years ago and I can see how much you have improved I always told myself that I will get to ride your backyard because I live like 3 hrs away but I just need to start posting more and get my name out there but I can’t right now because I have 2 broken arms 🤦♂️ but amazing video brother hope to see more subscriber trail!
Happy to see you back on the trail bro 🤘🏽👊🏼
Very Nice job. Nice vidéo Nice ride
Always impressed with your work. Host some events for your local mtb riders to enjoy your awesome trail. Maybe that’s the answer for motivation. Pretty amazing what you have there, I’m sure the community would love to get the trails a run for a private event you host
Epic!
Looks awsome, really nice packed dirt and fun jumps. Just wish i could ride it :D
Man I love watching this stuff, makes me want to go and ride my bike, keep up the good work
Awesome to see it resurrected
this is so satisfying
Nice trail yard🔥 Shoutout! From Philippines.
The subscriber trail looks so good! I love all the green that grew in! Awesome content as always and I can’t wait for more!
Nice one Seth really like your videos
This trail is insanely awesome and totally needs more riding on the channel!! Take care of that back of yours cause if it gives up a lot of your content seems to depend on it 💪
Hope your buddy heals up fast!! I for sure thought he had snapped his collarbone 😱
youre out here building these amazing things while I struggle to make a wooden kicker ramp- good job dude
IT Look with this little Nature Touch also nice:)
It just shows if you take your time and build quality, maintenance is easier good vid.
It is so awesome to see you out on that trail! Will you be going back to the techy trail next? Because nostalgia! Woo!🤘
Good to see you back on the build mate. Keep us sane in Australia as we are back in Lockdown!
Sick!
I can’t wait to see this lol
Need to get some park passes for some people to ride it all the time to get it in good shape!
it look's way better like that !!!
how did you get the determination to do all of this? I would of given up after like 5 minutes not gonna lie
well done on your work so far
Sick
Sick video Dude😎😎🤟🤟
This rebuild makes me beg God summer comes fast and I can ride!!
keep it up
I think the route from the grass and the weeds that grow on the ramps I think that would actually stiffen up the ground a little bit to prevent erosion
you need more speed for the whale tail
Brother that’s perfect!! Just flat shovel the grass off the trails and rip it!!!
Yeah new video babe u got the best videos ever
love these trails, but will you continue adding features with new videos bc I’d be down to watch them
