    Hi Sheila, I used to knit a lot and loved doing patterns. I hated button and neck bands, and sewing up so my mum used to do them😃. I became really fed up with it though and, for a number of reasons, stopped about 25years ago. Recently thinking of starting again so I've been binge watching lots of you tube videos for revision. Can I just say, I'm so glad I've found your channel finally. Your methods are so like my mums and easy to follow.THANKYOU!❤

    I found with my knitting, slip first stitch and knit last stitch even on purl row. Really enjoy and like your videos. Thanks

    Thank you Sheila, they’re very good tips. The edges are really neat. I remember my mum telling me she always used to slip the first stitch but don’t remember what she did about the last stitch.

      Same with my mum except she regardless of plain or purl row would always knit last stitch.

    My problem with loose stitches is with the knitting side (right side where I start knitting a row) not on the pearl side. But everyone is different, right? The important thing is that you gave me a good tip on how to get rid of those loose stitches. I am careful with the first two stitches that I knit and I give a gentle tug after knitting the second stitch which tightens both at the same time...same idea. It works just fine.
    Another thing that can cause loose stitches is using needles that are too big for the yarn that is being used. I learned that by trial and error.
    Thank you for your demonstration! An easy fix to help with the edges! ☺

    I am knitting a scarf, the edge when I end my row on my second row which the last stitch is a purl stich is sloppy, when I turn my row to do my first knit stitch, on the next row :(
    I try and pull tight but it's not doing anything for me, so here I am searching your videos for your knowledge!@@@

    Oh this is a great idea! Can I ask - how to I get my cast-on & cast-off row to the same tension/ stretchiness?

    • @sheilasknittingtipsandothe3191
      @sheilasknittingtipsandothe3191  3 года назад +1

      I always use the cable cast on method Maire it keeps my tension correct ruclips.net/video/0rzjcn0-jgI/видео.html link to cable cast on, casting off depends on how loose you need it, for a neckband i just cast of in rib very loosely

      Great stuff Sheila really helpful. Loopy and loose end of row stitches are a nightmare when it comes to stitching up or if the pattern demands picking up n knitting stitches say for a button band etc. I gave been slipping the 1st stitch on each row which works quite well too x
