Watching from the Blue Mountains in Australia. What an amazing video !!! I'm 48 and stuck in a job that i hate, also live in a place i have no time for. Huge mortgage here in Sydney so unfortunately im stuck. I can only dream of the serenity you would find on a hike like this. So happy you made it all the way !!! My heart aches that i will never get to experience this

I love your videos. You are a born story tellers and cinematographer. This shows what it was like hiking the PCT in 2021. Dry in the south but if I remember you skipped north and had to finish SOBO to do the Sierra after ? I also remember this was a year of devastating wildfires and lots of closures on the PCT and the CDT. I'll have to rewatch this 4 or 5 times to get my Spielberg fix, ha ha ! I would love to see a longer 1/2 hour version that includes more of your experience. When I have time I'll go back and watch the whole hike from the start. Thanks for posting this.

Now that I'm seeing your name, I remember reading in one of your articles on The Trek (I read them all!) or somewhere else that you were hiking the PCT, but I totally forgot until seeing your name. I'm so sorry I didn't get to meet you in person on this trail, either (hopefully on the CDT, as it looks like we're on the same schedule 😂). August 7 -- nice! No problem -- happy to answer questions, although I'm sometimes slow with responses. I averaged between 20-30 miles a day, usually toward to top end of that in Oregon and Washington. Every 3-5 days I would get off trail to resupply and, often, sleep in town at a hostel or hotel. Hey Raul!!! So great to see your name in my comments! All is will here in NYC - I hope all is well with you, too. I haven’t forgotten about the Camino footage and still hope to do something with it - hopefully it won’t take many more years 🙈🤣. Hope you have a great remainder of the summer!

My wife and I were in Kennedy Meadows a couple years ago dirt, bike riding, and we were at the main store having lunch and met many through hikers. One young lady we met was doing the Pacific Trail in four or five different stents because she only had a month off every year. She asked if we were headed down the hill anytime soon and we said yes the next day. She wondered if we could give her a ride to the nearest town Where she would try to find some more transportation. We asked her where she was ultimately headed and she said that train station in Bakersfield and we said no problem. We will take you there. It was truly our pleasure to drive her there because we got all the details of the three years she had spent hiking the trail. I’m 68 now but someday I plan on doing that hike. The last two years of my life I’ve been training and racing in triathlon so I think I’m close to being ready.

You and your wife are Trail Angels for giving that woman a ride. That beautiful thing you did for her will come back to you when you’re out there and need a ride. I’m very excited for you! I wish I could do it again for the first time. Sounds like you’re physically ready already. And you’re probably pretty there mentally, too. If you haven’t followed anyone’s entire RUclips journey, I highly recommend it. They can be somewhat slow and sometimes boring, but watching them is one of the best ways to prepare. If there are any questions you have as you prepare, please don’t hesitate to ask me!

What a majestic experience, and a great accomplishment 👏! One I hope to achieve one day..
I have to ask though, who were all the people at the end? A strange part of my mind just imagines a group of people paid to cheer hikers on as they show up 😂

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to your question. Those people at the end were other hikers that finished that day. There was many more than usual because there had been a week of freezing rain and snow right before this and many had gotten off trail to wait it out. Thanks for your kind words!
