Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO.
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

He has no idea how to mate 😂 Genki has been to do everything to set him up in the right position lol In his defense, he grew up without another silverback around so he never had an example to imitate.
Luckily, Annie (Gentaro's potential mate) has experience as she mates occasionally with her brother, blackback Kiyomasa. Zoo normally move blackbacks out of their natal troop to a bachelor's group to prevent incest amongst other things. In this odd case, I think it may end up working out long term 😅
@@darthatariALL living creatures know how to mate by nature. We dont need to be shown or taught. Male gorillas have their choice of mates out in the wild. Momo was forced to live with genki. Its unnatural. He didnt choose her and he isnt attracted to her. He gave her 2 kids out of necessity but if you follow all their videos he attacks her a lot and spends almost no time with her.
When you see male gorillas that love their partners they are VERY affectionate and playful with them. He isnt at all with her. Its extremely obvious he doesnt care about her.
Gentaro makes the sound when he beats on his chest now, Kintaro is starting to look like Gentaro.

It was good to see Momotaro relaxed while his sons played. Gentaro was so cute sitting on the rock with his foot in the tire swing. Kintaro playing and splashing in the pond with his ball. And I vote that Gentaro was protecting Genki. We know Momotaro was only smelling Genki's back area, but the way he was mounted on her backward perhaps looked like he was trying to hurt her instead.

8:10 Momo knows the only time Genki hangs around him is when she wants a baby. He says ok, let me check out, and goes in for the sniff! Gentaro misinterprets the whole thing and dashes Genki’s intentions to pieces, BUT we know, Whatever Genki wants, Genki gets. So if she was really trying to get a baby, she will be back!

I noticed that. They’re definitely **Different** unlike the D’Jeeco Troop. Papa D 🦍 constantly plays with his boys and occasionally his wife Tayari bcuz she’s more Playful and Fun Loving than his Foodaholic wife Iriki 😂😂😂😂 ALL she cares about is eating HER food and anyone else’s she can Steal.

Momotaro still has much to learn regarding his lovemaking skills! Reminds me of that hilarious clip with Genki patiently trying to help poor Momotaro mate for the first time. As much as I love the big lug he is quite clumsy it is a miracle he was ever able to conceive!

Deja vu this this endearing fumble of a potential mating hearkens back to the original pretzel maneuvers of 2010 when Genki patiently adjusted herself and momo for successful coupling. This time it appears gentaro was agent of coitus interruptus usually it’s kintaro whose curiosity interferes with the the parents making Whoopi. For now i prefer to see Genki embracing vegetables and grass than that handsome rather clumsy spouse

Gentaro is filling out a lot. His buttock and legs are getting big. He's 11 now, soon to be 12. I wouldnt doubt when he 13 he'll have some silver. Thats a tough question. Yes, it is due to his upbringing lack of silverback father. Hopefully Gentaro and Kintaro learned from their mother who had to teach Momo how the birds and bees goes. .😂 Japan is going to have a problem real soon with lack of female gorillas.
@@aquarianlight1880 some teaching! It’s so sad. Momo looks so sad all the time. They should travel to other zoos and see the difference. The Prague Zoo is a good example. Richard, the silverback has 4 females. Others have 3. That’s the norm. Not this travesty.
@@theresapennetti3986 yes but Japan does not have an agreement with international gorilla zoo community. There are strict standards Japan zoos would have to comply. An example is the enclosure, it has to be large etc...otherwise no other country will agree to send their female gorillas to Japan.
@@aquarianlight1880 that makes a lot of sense. You can tell their enclosure is seriously lacking in size. The only alternative is to close it down. When Gentaro leaves, which should be soon, Genki will flip out. then Kintaro could go into a juvenile group. Any zoo would love to have Momo. Tough decisions will come in the future.
@@theresapennetti3986Richard has retired and bless him he was, in my view, too mean at times and Shinda had a lot of sway over him. The girls are now with a new silverback, Misumu. Only from videos, it appears as if he is nicer and more sophisticated in maintaining crontrol unlike dear Richard who used his fists a lot. Misumu was the leader in his bachelor group in Austria. Exciting news, Moja's baby, Duni, came to Prague at the same time as Misumu and is now pregnant!! Interesting she and her grandmother Kijivu adore each other! 🙂

Gentaro hasn’t wanted to play with his brother too often, lately. He is being picked on by Momitaro way too frequently. It’s affecting his mood, it seems. I think that because Momotaro has been in such wan unpredictable mood, Gentaro is worried when he sees his mom beneath his dad… facing the wrong way! 😂
