We are just an hour or so way and make a couple of trips each year. We are very lucky to live so close. One of my favorite things to do is to visit Boxley Valley at sun rise to see the Elk Herd in the mist. So many gorgeous hikes in the area and spring waterfalls... it is a gift. This video is great, but as great as this video is, I don't believe it does justice to the actual beauty of a visit.

I always looked forward to visiting my grandparents every summer who lived on Gaither Mountain outside of Harrison. So going to Ponca off the back of the mountain was our go to for fun! I have so many wonderful memories of the Buffalo river. It's beauty is majestic and always needs to be cared for, definately a treasure that the state of Arkansas is so very fortunate to have ❤

I just with the fishing was better than I've experienced on the Buffalo. The scenery is amazing and some of the best you can see while floating.
I saved many people one float trip from a fallen tree that covered the whole river. It was one in which could take a persons life getting jammed underwater, with the type of current on that day. It wasn't surprising that many people weren't willing to help others from getting in a dangerous situation. They just watched as people headed for danger. This was on the middle upper section, which I don't recommend for new floaters for most of the year. The lower sections is one for most floaters.

I give a prayer of thanks for Dr. Compton every time i head out to the Buffalo. While i do enjoy my White River reservoirs, what a crime it would have been to drown this place.
