- Опубликовано: 11 май 2020
- It's round two of the DIYgravel series, this one is Belgian Waffle Ride! May 3, 2020 marks the original BWR in sunny San Diego, but with with a year in flux, that's the day that Ted King took to Vermont's plush roads and pedaled north to Canada.
But this episode isn't about Ted. It's about the King family. Prominently featuring Laura King and 8 week old Hazel, this is a film about how to "make it all work" amid busier than normal times. The balance of parenthood, life, work, and raising a family, this is a King of the Ride episode unlike any other.

Wow, Ted you have yourself a belter there. 140 miles wow, 140 & stopping to feed the little one, Outstanding.
Thank you for sharing your family doing this ride! Both my daughters (ages 6 & 8) watched!
so cool! Thanks for sharing it with them!
great video to the first family of gravel
So cool. As a father of two awesome young women, middle school teacher and NICA coach you are such a great role model for so many people in the world. Especially in these tough times, this was a much needed breath of fresh air and I am going to plan my next DIY challenge in Chapel Hill, NC.
THIS is the content on RUclips I am after. Good clean wholesome fun. Live your life large, and celebrate ALL the miles. Awesome video.
Love the part Laura wheee you said something ‘still being able celebrate the things that you love and being yourself’ ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
When I met you Ted in Seattle this past December, probably the most impressionable thing about the whole experience was how genuine and kind you are without compromising your self. Of course your family is equally as beautiful as you are a good soul, which you are indeed sir.
I can attest, this is Ted whether in the public eye or not! Thanks for writing this awesome comment!
Epic ride, King family! Mostly Laura, but Ted and Hazel can take 12% credit.
Amazing video! Cute baby! Congrats to both!
Tedd, you definitely took second to Laura at this years BWR. Seriously impressive.
Cycling, family, raising a baby, conquering a huge goal, tremendous support from family and friends...this has everything. Huge congrats on the ride, your beautiful family, and sharing incredible lessons from your adventure and your journey so far. You Kings are cycling royalty not just for your feats on the bike, but for the genuineness and tenacity of your hearts. Thank you for sharing this!
this is awesome and Laura looks awesome.
Awesome to see women being highlighted! Husbands with wives who ride really appreciate this! Thank you! 🚴♀️🚴🏼❤️
hooray! thanks for watching!
man riding 140 miles solo is hard enough, but add to it feeding a baby. Badass couple!
This might make me a geek...but I love the way Laura pedals.
IMO Hazle was more commenting on the Bike Industry than the concept of the bicycle
the women who are apart of gravel and make it so welcoming are a big reason im interested in it. similar to ultra-trail running, gravel seems to have such a positive community of women. congrats on your epic ride!
Love the fact you put your daughter down and let her cry, that is frankly, good parenting, well done! And that's not even covering the fact that your going out and getting it! Well done, super impressed! Keep it balanced, that's the key. As a now empty nester of two awesome kids with me and my wife, I'll tell you, never let them compromise your active lifestyle. Awesome attitude, keep it up!
Great vid, love seeing the whole family including more of Hazel!! And awesome job Laura for getting after it like ur man Ted! 💪
So fitting that Ted's driveway is GRAVEL!!!

awesome video, finding real inspiration to create my own DIYGravel rides
Great video ! I was just getting my cycling gear on when this popped up on my video alert. Here I was whining about going out to ride 40 miles, thanks for the attitude adjustment this morning I needed that.
Awesome video. Great message. Go Laura!
Wow, cool idea, nice work to the whole family!
What a beautiful video. I'm with "Team Hazel" all the way.
This made my day I had to share it and then watched it again! By the way. Sunday morning waffle rituals in our home just got an upgrade to the Cochran fam slopeside gold. With 3 kids I only wish it came in a gallon! Stay safe amigos.
Laura, thank you for sharing this message. It’s really inspirational to see you keep your identity and bang out an unknown goal WHILE stopping to breastfeed your infant. 💯badass. 💪

Great ride and Great Adventure
Great story!👏
Really nice and is a very inspiration to all cycling/sporting moms.
Respect to you laura 💪
I'd love to see all three of you become the ultimate cycling power family. Judging based on the badassery displayed by Laura in this video, Hazel certainly has the genes on both sides to be talented on the bike. Great video once again!
@@petemtb5537 that's not accurate, unfortunately.
If Laura isn't the most badass mum out there, I don't know who is.
You guys are so good on camera.
Nice Evelda Drumgo/Hannibal nod with the "gun from underneath the baby carrier" move...
JFC rode BWR distance/climbing and breastfed the baby during the stops? Respect, so impressive.
Just right. Thanks!
Kudos to Laura for her drive, and juggling of training and nursing regimens. Any chance of you sharing the recipe of her scrumptious- sounding, pre-ride breakfast?
Nursing and 140…jam on! This is gravel. #LGLG (Let’s Go. Let’s go.)
Awesome!
You're an awesome family!
More please!
Nice to watch...thank's
Hazel is such a cool name for an amazingly adorable future gravel queen. Well done, great video. I'd be interested to hear the story of the name Hazel
We went back and forth on names for probably 9 months. And then the day of, we settled on Hazel!
Best video from the family yet. The future is female!
Mom watts! Proud of you Laura
thank you Jess!
Nailed it👌
Cuteness factor 💯!
Me: struggling to hit the May Strava climbing challenge.
Laura: crushes BWR replica while breastfeeding.
She is a beastmonster (in fly Velocio kit) 🤘🤘
Fantastico!!!
Teds videos making me want to sell my place in maine and move to VT
Wow, did you stop to nurse while doing this ride? Seriously impressive!!! And even if you didn’t, 140 miles with a newborn is amazing. Good stuff. So motivational.
I did, I nursed twice and Ted fed her a bottle once. thank you!
Laura is a awesome!
That whoop is on my face...
Cute baby!
Much respect!.That distance plus breastfeeding thrown in? That’s an intense day.
thank you!
Wow!
"Yeah, let me just stop this 140 mile GRINDER of a ride I'm doing to breastfeed."
What an absolute MONSTER. Laura's fucking cool.
i need a ted and a hazel to prepare my bike before i ride.
right? even a last minute air pressure check? haha.
Great video! I was wondering what both you and Ted wear on your wrist?Yours is pink...
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾❤️
Ted what type of shoes do you use MTB OR ROAD and it’s due to the coarse of the ride GRAVEL RIDE
Can you tel me what state is most prefarable for gravel riding???
Why is it that every time I sit down to watch a clip about some cycling endeavour it's 80% sentimental music and a tale of personal growth?
Why is it when we produce videos they receive 99.5% positive comments and 0.5% snark?
Did she do that ride on a SuperSix Evo Hi-Mod? It doesn’t look like a Topstone but I’m watching this cool video on a small phone, unfortunately.
That's a SuperSix EVO. She has 32c Rene Herse tires. Full summary in show notes.
Ted King thanks for the reply. I’ll check out the details.
Laura rode a Supersix evo? I have been contemplating using my Synapse on gravel...can I do this on 28" tires?
Hey David, we ride road bikes off road all the time up here. Laura's EVO can rock 32c slicks with ease. Not sure what year your Synapse is, but I run 35c slicks on my 2018 Synapse in there easy peasy! Yes, ride gravel. Get gnar.
@@TedKing1 Thanks for the reply. I have a 2018 Synapse SE and I was looking at the Rene Herse Bon Jon 35c tubeless. Do you need to run the 35's at high pressure to get the clearance or will they still fit at lower psi?
Laura is awesome. Like her better on these videos then Ted.
#BEASTMOM
7:00 “If he can do it why can’t I?” Uhhh... cause he’s a pro who’s been at the Tour. Props for dreaming big tho.
Um...she just did do it..... (and not only did she do it, but she did it 8 weeks after birthing a baby, and nursed the baby while doing it, so suck on that) * long overdrawn silence because this is the dumbest statement ever *
@@alyssacharles1735 way to go, sis!
