There's a reason for your channel growth; you. You make great videos and you're very interesting/entertaining to watch. Even my wife enjoys your videos, even though she's not nearly as into bushcraft and camping as I am. Your videos help inspire us to take more trips to the few areas we have around Oklahoma for hiking and wild camping.
MCQ was the first bushcraft video I ever saw, and your channel was found shortly after. I think a collaboration between you two would be amazing!
Keep doing your thing, you're doing amazing and it's been a real trip watching your channel grow from over a year ago. 2017 is going to be the best year yet.

Joe, I have a whole new level of respect for you after watching this. Especially hearing that you grew up without a father as I did. I lost mine at six to cancer, so I have some memories of him. The most prominent of which was when he took me into the woods to play in leaves and to gain an appreciation for the wild. But for those of us that grew into men and had to learn what it is to be a man without the benefit of a constant role model, it's not an easy journey. And I have double respect for a guy that has mastered the survival skills you have.

What you do for us, the quality of the videos, that's what gave you most of the views. Your work ! Well deserved attention.
I don't know what you guys think, but it seems more and more people are getting into bushcraft and whatnot. Fjällräven packs on sold anywhere, bushcraft channels are getting big very quickly, not to mention survival video games being so trendy at the moment... I don't know what caused or is causing this, but I like it a lot.

Hey Joe, at 46 I found myself less and less in the woods and less and less fulfilled. Your channel came up in my recommendation section after watching one of Lonnie's videos of Far North Bushcraft and Survival. The 2 of you really are bookends so to speak to the truth of what being outside and in the woods means to me. You've inspired me once again, to not let go of the sacredness of nature and to recommit myself to that which is dear to my heart. The Outdoors! Thanks young friend and might I say brother.

Living in the south in the States, guns are a way of life. I grew up being taught proper handling of firearms and safety and rarely heard of accidental discharge. My parents were raised in houses with guns in every room but they were taught to never touch them unless instructed. Anyway, Joe I've been watching you for a little while, I discovered your channel when I was looking at Malcolm's day ruck reviews and whatnot. You're my favorite bushcraft channel, love your vids, keep it up my Canadian friend!

    • @-sensibleChris
      @-sensibleChris 4 года назад

Two of my friends were raised exactly the same way, they both died from hunting accidents. I'm not anti gun, I'm just saying watch your kids like a hawk when hunting, and never ever let yourself get complacent. The more experience we have with anything, the more complacency sets in, and mistakes can be made.

I completely agree about being afraid of other people more than anything else., growing up in the Idaho wilderness my entire life seeing every form of wildlife imaginable. After travelling 38 states for business when I got older many people would ask how I can handle being so secluded in the high mountain woods alone. Most of those people resided in Florida, Texas, East Coast, etc because they (of course not everyone) have no idea what endless miles of free public land is like. Places where you do not have to pay, you can travel countless old logging roads or hiking trails for days on end without ever seeing another person. They would often ask me if I was afraid of cougars, bears, you name it. I never really thought about it about it because everyone I grew up with was so used to it. My response was no, it is people I worry about. A bear may be a little unpredictable but humans are far more unpredictable than they are. That is one of many reasons I am never been happier then when I am secluded by a mountain lake or stream, some 9 thousand feet in elevation. Just the quiet, you, your thoughts, and really true peace and beauty.

    • @shieldmaiden000
      @shieldmaiden000 6 лет назад +2

Exactly! I've been in the woods all my life and I am 62-years-old, and female. And the only thing that would worry me was man because I do most my outdoor activities alone; hunt, fish, camp, hike, etc. But fortunately all those years I have eluded man. (Even in domestic life...lmao...just teasing). I believe I've eluded them in the hunting arena simply because men don't like to get out and hump the mountains and brush like I do. I've used bow most of my hunting life (this year rifle...been many, many years) so I have to get up close and personal with my animal; they do not walk out in front of you while you are sitting on the main road. I am not talking about all men that will not get out in the rugged parts of the mountains, but most hunters (rifle and bow) prefer to drive around in their vehicle or walk out about 20 yards and sit and call it good. I have known some men like you but they are far and few between. So it is nice to read about the same mindset as I. Thanks for sharing.

Hey I'm from idaho too. After a murder a few years ago I decided to get some guns and it became a fun hobby. And I agree on being afriad of humans more then animals. Iv camped all around idaho and seen everything but wolves, bears and mountain Lions. Iv had a close call with a mountian loin I think, up in magic my brother and I were playing outside during the winter and we heard something behind this bush wall type of deal. We went inside woke up in the morning and my dad found a mama and her cub by the back door. Several times we found the prints of them but nothing happened.

You have so many responses you probably won't get time to look at this lol. You said "I don't know what I did to deserve this" I think it's plain to see, after the Alone incident I can only imagine your let down and probably you might of even started doubting yourself, mix in a few trolls giving you a hard time and presto. You turned things around and learned from your Alone experience and did not give up, you kept on putting out good quality vids, you were professional, said what you had to say about Alone and moved on. Your success is a direct cause of your actions and the way you handled your situation. There is no doubt in my mind that your drive and need to be outdoors is true and for the novice or seasoned outdoorsman your channel brings good information and entertainment. I doubt that people really know about how much work it really is to do these videos but when your getting 4,5,6 hundred thousand views it doesn't matter, what does matter is they like it ! All the best

No doubt, most of us are very happy to see Scout along with you, but when you mentioned his health issues, it made me feel sad for him. Yeah, he clearly does enjoy being out there with you and he's such a trooper to put up with the ticks and discomforts of the wild just to be by your side. That's one special dog/friend you have there.

hey joe, i think the secret to your recent success is - less classroom and more hangin out doing the things we all wish we could be doing at that moment. for myself, when i want (when i need) to be out in the woods but it's just not doable cuz i have to be back at work the next day in downtown chicago and I'm just freakin out to get away, i put on youtube and let my buddies take me on the vacation i just can't take myself at the moment. i guess thus was food for thought and a really big "thank you" for gettin me out in the woods when i can't get out of chicago! God bless brother!

Joe, the reason for your success is obviously you! You speak well and do not ramble on. Your content is interesting and you are humble enough to admit when you do not know something, or give kiddos to someone who has taught you something. I have been a long time sub and look forward to your new video's. I am a Pickering boy and love the fact that most of the places you go to are not that far from me. I am a dualsport rider and have pledged to do more solo camping, inspired by your videos. Cheers, Paul

Hey Joe! I've discovered your channel only this year. I gotta thank you for not only the educational aspects of what you do, but the entertainment. Because of you, I'll be pushing hard into getting out more this year and doing bushcraft, hopefully with my son a bit(8). I've assembled all the basic gear thanks to your advice, except for a pack. Hope to get one and be on my way soon!

The fact that we get to come along with you on your camping journeys through video is awesome. Of course you deserve it because your content is never boring. Keep being the authentic you and do what comes naturally to you while you film your camping trips because that is what makes them worth watching. :-]
