tbh I feel like they could also go the route of having Kuwana become a protagonist, Lost Judgement left his story open enough I could see a Judgement 3 being something like a redemption story for him, plus he has the detective abilities and could even reuse Yagami's movesets with probably some animation changes since he was shown to fight very similarly
If we don’t get Yagami in the third game, it could work with Sugiara. We got a glimpse of how his fighting works in gaiden and with the points you said about it having Assassins creed elements with climbing and stealth due to Suigiara’s past would be fire
I know many western don’t know how Yagami’s actor is big in Japan. His big not only in Japan is in Asia. Asian loves him so much and because of Kimura’s appearance in Judgment, many people try to play the game and know RGG Studio. May be western don’t know Judgment have a nick name “ Like A Kimutaku” and “ Kimutaku Ga Gotoku” by fans and players. That’s explain why Judgment can’t without Yagami and your thoughts are ridiculous.
I think a multi-protagonist game could work, both with AND without Yagami. A three-protagonist game with Kaito, Higashi and Sugiura could easily work, maybe introducing new characters to tie them more into the law aspect. But if Yagami does return, I think the best case scenario would be playing as all four of them, Yakuza 4 style. Since it'd be something new for the series instead of just having one protagonist, in both cases.
I think it should be 2 protagonists with Yagami playable in Kamurocho with the Yagami Detective Agency and Sugiura in Yokohama with Yokohama 99, Yagami would have Kaito, Higashi and the Genda Agency people and Sugiura has Tsukumo and Tesso, and would probably have some new faces too and possibly even Kuwana.
I don’t really see a reason why they wouldn’t bring Kimura back as Yagami. His agency that caused all the problems in the first place (karaoke included) is pretty much gone at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back. I guess scheduling conflicts and probably a high salary might be an issue I could imagine.
I really enjoyed the Kaito Files DLC and can see him take lead and team up with work with Sugiara, Higashi, Saori, and Hoshino. Having Tanimura as a guest detective would be cool.
I honestly don't care about Yagami much as a protagonist, so I'd be fine with a Judgement game without him. In fact, I like most of the side characters from Judgment more than him. Like, if Kaito, Sugiura or even Kuwana were given the leading role in Judgment, I'd be down for that over Yagami returning. He has a good backstory, and isn't a bad character, but despite being the star in two games, something about him just doesn't connect with me nearly as much as Ichiban or Kiryu did, even in the first game I played starring them. My ideal would be having a dual protagonist system, with Kaito and Saori being the leads. Like, set up a story where Yagami is arrested as he's been framed for murder, and have Saori tackle the legal side of the case, while Kaito serves as muscle and the both of them handle the investigation together. Maybe you can set up the game similarly to the Kaito files, where you control Kaito for the exploration side of things, and Saori follows him like Jun did in the Kaito files, and you can unlock ways for her to assist in combat? I dunno, it's just what I'd like to see.
Can't we just switch actor for yagami? I mean I prefer Yagami unchanged, but if that's the only way we're getting another Yagami game I'm okay with it.
Yakuza feels ok without Kiryu because he had 7 games involving him. 9 if you count Kenzan and Ishin. Before “retiring” him for good. And that hasn’t even stuck since he has a big moment in 7 that was a passing of the torch moment, but then he gets Gaiden and 8 where he’s a lead character. Yagami has had 2 games where he cemented himself as the lead and central pillar. I’m all for him passing the torch as I was with Kiryu but that would have to come after at least one more judgment game.
I can totally see a Judgment with Akiyama as the lead character. He’s been doing detective work in previous games and he can carry a game as the main character. They could even bring Hana back. It would be fun and to be honest Yagami’s story was somewhat done after the first game.
i cant live without yagami
tbh I feel like they could also go the route of having Kuwana become a protagonist, Lost Judgement left his story open enough I could see a Judgement 3 being something like a redemption story for him, plus he has the detective abilities and could even reuse Yagami's movesets with probably some animation changes since he was shown to fight very similarly
Post Judgment featuring Kuwana as the protag🔥
Kimura still seems to be a big fan of the series and his role in it, so there's still hope.

True that

Can Judgment 3 work without Yagami? Perhaps
Do I want it to be without Yagami? Hell fucking no

What about Hoshino? He's a black belt in Karate, in case anyone forgot, and he has a lot he wants to prove to one particular colleague.
tsukumo is a master of the yagami style dont forget that
Am already said it! Without Yagamer, i AINT gaming!!!!!!!

I’d like them to have at least one more game with Yagami as the lead.
Maybe bring back Tanimura
That's what I was thinking
I’d be totally disappointed if Yagami is not in Judgment 3.
Really want play a game with Higashi.
Whilst i agree, I want more Yagami

its just not the same without yagami.
Yeah but Yagami was in only 2 games compared to Kiryu's like 9
yagami is the best chrachter rgg has ever made if judgment 3 doesnt have yagami i might kms
For me, I hope Yagami remains the main character
Can't we just switch actor for yagami? I mean I prefer Yagami unchanged, but if that's the only way we're getting another Yagami game I'm okay with it.
But what will be the point if we don’t have a sequel to the famous Yagami scream
Or SAWA SENSEI simulator 2
I think Kaito should have the lead
If Yakuza can be ok without Kiryu, then Judgment can be ok without Yagami
True
but my favorite chain smoker😔

@@AdApT3RxI think from the ending in yakuza 8 i dont Kriyu will return in the next yakuza 9 because he has cancer and he’s going be dead in yakuza 9
If it does happen hopefully it will be peak
Could they just use/build off of Beta Yagami's face?
I will sue rgg if they dont bring back yagami
Either Kuwana as mc or Sugiura as mc

I'm no fan of turned based games and not a fan that they switched kiryu to ichiban
