- Little Sunny wanted to have a home and a family to love her again. She took refuge on a porch and kept trying to sneak into the house. When we received the text on the #HopeForPaws emergency line, Loreta Frankonyte and I headed out to get her.
My car was being fixed that day, so I didn't have my equipment with me. We had to quickly come up with an idea because these little Chihuahuas get nervous and we didn't want her to run away.
We ended up using a trick you have never seen before on our channel ❤️
After the rescue was accomplished and bath + medical care were provided, she continued to our friends at #LAAnimalRescue for foster and then found her the most amazing home. Loreta and I just got to visit her, and by the end of this video, you'll see a completely different, happy, confident dog.

So many animals are abandoned every year. We know many stories of people who passed away, and the families of these people just "got rid" of their loved ones' pets. Please don't let this happen to your pet... this is something you owe your dogs and cats - a place to spend the rest of their lives.

I know not everyone would be in a position to take in a stray dog but if that little sweetheart was trying to make a way into my house...we would soon have a new dog! I couldn't turn away that lil baby!

All my kitties have been taken in from the streets, including my last 4 feral ones. It was certainly a great challenge for the first 6-7 months but eventually they became more trusting .

Yes, all the good that HFP does comes back tenfold. They're awesome people. I can tell they all really care and aren't just doing it for the notoriety and money. Sadly there are many deceitful organizations that are frauds. They collect all the donations and only 0.3% goes to the animals, the minimum amount required by law. So do your research before donating. Hope for Paws is on the up and up, verified.

Absolutely shameful that people abandon their dogs . So unacceptable! I have gone at times through extreme poverty, but I would rather not eat and feed my babies instead . @joe In this case, the family left valuables and toys here. I could see them not being able to take furniture, but they just left at least one TV. The place was spotless on top of that. The whole thing feels very weird.

It happens all the time, not just because of the pandemic
Yes, there needs to be more financial support systems available to pet owners and/or more places to call for help in finding a good home for the pet. In my county there are only two places to call that takes animals in, but that is not enough. The only other place is the animal shelter and they admit that animals are usually euthanized there.

@@TheRivrPrncess Absolutely, there needs to be more support. And the flip side: I know people who've gone short on food in order to make sure their pet has the care they need. They're wonderful caring people for doing that, but they shouldn't have to go through that either and I can't really blame anyone for not making that choice, especially if it's between their pet and their children.
(this all is part of a bigger issue on how we should support people through hard times, and the answer has to be: a whole lot better than we're doing at the moment.)

No matter if I was evicted or if I lost my home due to financial downfall I would take my animals with me and I would live in my car with them if I had to but I would find a way and they would never be abandoned, never!💝
and there ARE ways, help out there. Even some food pantries give pet food out.

After climbing under houses, going into sewers and climbing on tops of garbage piles - you get a clean, indoor, climate controlled, “easy” rescue.

A cat I have been feeding for over 7 years named Orangey was abondoned by his owners who told a TNR member that “ he would be fine & he could fend for himself “ when they moved.
There are a lot of uncaring & stupid assholes out there.
I have 3 cats & feed 6 every day on my low SSI income. I won’t let them starve and I love them all.

Videos like this give me hope for this world. Knowing that people will go out of their way to help abandoned, sick or hurt animals. That's why I'm subscribed to a number of these channels.
It would be even better if you actually went out and HELPED with some rescue organizations

@@sallydaniel1023 Ohhh... Thats a load of horse poop ! It costs nothing to put a few bowls of water out in some alley ways so the doggies have something to drink.
People have a thousand and one excuses for not doing anything.. most of them are nonsense. My wife takes car of 15 - 18 doggies that people have abandoned at her local temple . It costs me a grand total of around 40 $ a month . That's 2 trips for you to go to Mc Donalds
Just be sure to “vet” who you give your money to….especially the ones I other countries. Google them independent of utube and look for reviews and their countries accreditation. We did that with Hope For Paws and found only good things. Plus they were responsive to our emails.
There's no reason to abandon you're pet because of a pandemic. If you keep them safe. You will be safe also. Thank you for saving so many pet's. God will always bless you for your actions here on earth
No dog or cat deserves to live on the streets. They deserve to have a home with a loving family. I am so glad that Sunny found a new home again after being abandoned and I am so grateful to this couple who opened their home to Sunny. I pray that this will be Sunny’s forever home.
Ok so she is a stray , but why are they feeding her with things SHE SHOULD 'NT be eating ? especially as they have have to take her to a VET to be checked over

I was looking for a rescue dog and many shelters told me that some people GOT dogs during the pandemic, to have company, love, etc. Ok, then some might have discarded them after or found dog ownership was just too hard. ugh. Think before you rehome a pet or get one. Thanks to HFP many get their 2nd chance !!! YAY

Abandoning animals should be a federal offense with mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison.
I would be homeless before I’d leave my girl and I trust my family to take care of her if anything should happen to me.

But then again, for that kind of 'owner', perhaps it's better for Sunny taken into hopeforpaw shelter and she would get a better family she deserve later.

Im sorry but id rather be homeless than have to live without my dog.
I see homeless people that never abandon their pets, but others just the first sign of a little problem do not have the strength to be with them in good and bad times.

@@yvonnemurray5537 the government came to help. They (the US government) have effectively been paying people to stay home from work. That's got to stop eventually. At the same time it's been illegal for landlords to evict tenants. People as you might expect have stopped paying rent (not everyone, but enough to matter.) The moratorium (mandated temporary stoppage) on evictions also will end eventually, supposedly. So as we speak there is a train crash waiting to happen.
Add to that the over 500,000 migrants we have let in across the Southern border (whether it's good or bad, you decide) since the spring started. However many of those migrants that are adults will be looking for a job, right at the same time that the people were at home during the pandemic. They also will need housing. Another train down coming the tracks.
There are so many employers who NEED employees!! Why are they getting kicked out if they can get a job & pay rent/mortgage??
CA employers are trying to pay MORE to get their employees back.

Of course,il not understand not being in situation.
But abandoning your pet,essentially your child is surely never an option.
It’s to me,equivalent to a mother throwing her eight year old child out,and leaving them in the middle of nowhere,no food,no shelter and with a high chance of an animal attacking. This is the way I see it.
I’d give my very last for mine and if I had absolutely nothing,I still could love and cuddle them and keep them warm and vice Versa back too.
If the situation is hopeless,you got each other,their love is strong Susan.they do not want to be without you ,no matter what. They have a strong sense of love and they feel,they hurt,they line,they miss you. No matter how hungry or no home- they always want to be by their mom.

If we think that dog abandonment has been bad during the pandemic, just wait until the evictions start again after rent moratoriums and mortgage foreclosures
This has been happening for years and years, it has nothing to do with the pandemic or evictions. Some people just don't care
@@anniebaker4530 But it is worse with the pandemic. Abandonment is not always because people don't care. Sometimes the pet owner fears getting in trouble and so does not check on the pet where they left it. Providing more places to take pets in, especially on a temporary basis is needed as is educating people as to how abandoning a pet usually turns out worse for the pet. And if there is no other option, sometimes pet owners just need to "swallow their pride" and allow neighbors and others to feed the pet they can no longer afford to feed. At least the pet is still with them.

I wouldn't trust or even want to be friends with anyone that abuses their pets or that would abandon them for any reason! People that do that should be fined and in jail.
