    As a super duty owner, I still think the carpet delete is still one of the best “options” you can spec into a truck. I love having a high trim level F350, but no carpet to get filthy from kids,dogs,camping, etc. I’m excited to see your new rig arrive.

    • @aaronbritt2025
      @aaronbritt2025 Год назад

      Not me. I'd never trade it in. An F450 is easily worth $10K TO $15K more as a private seller than as a trade in. I've sold dozens of vehicles private party. I've not had to deal with idiot low ballers because I don't use the free ads like Marketplace or CL. Paid ads tend to bring in real buyers. JD says it has an $80k trade in value, but I'd want to see that in writing. I doubt the dealer will actually pay $80k, unless that includes the tax credit. I'm a dealer and I calculated a trade in of about $70k.

    Congrats!! I'm a RAM guy but the F450 is in it's own class. You'd be crazy not to trade it in especially post the covid mess. My 18 Ram 2500 fully loaded CTD Laramie Mega Cab is worth more than what I paid for it new in 2018. You bet when the right circumstance comes up it will get "refreshed" even though I love my truck immensely.

    I have a 2020 Platinum F350 SRW - had to replace an LED taillight - cost was over $1400 at the end of the day. The plastic housing had cracked exposing it to rain. Congrats on your upcoming truck build! These trucks really hold their value these days too - glad your current truck is worth so much - that makes this a no-brainer.

    I am surprised you didn't option in the PTO output for the transmission. You can add some extremely nice size generators to the underside of the truck with it. I have seen F450's with up to 60KW units. Would be nice to have in emergency times. I am going to add one when I get a new truck for sure. Having the ability to have mobile 60KW unit that is attached and be able to use at any point is great. Keep up the good work sir!

    New accessories for new truck. Some of the old accessories might fit but then you have old parts on a new truck. It isn’t worth the trouble. Besides, installing new accessories makes for great content. I’ve learned so much watching you install the accessories on your current truck.

    Congratulations 🎉. It’s a beautiful truck. I would say you should start your build over and let the other truck go as is. I’ve recently been down this road. One thing is for the air compressor and stuff your getting a brand new truck why would you want to put “used” stuff on the new truck. Your better off trading it in it’s easy and a guaranteed done deal and you can drive it right til the end. Vs if you wanted that money up front for the new one. Another plus with starting the new build is the new products you could now choose and feature.

    I felt blessed to find a leftover 2022 dually that needed to be sold before they delivered the 2023s. I did ok on the sale, but I needed the truck so what are you going to do. I did this just last February, while I was in .... Texas! I called my local dealer here in Northeast Ohio about ordering a '23. He told me then (Jan/Feb) that I might have to wait till 2024. When he asked me why, I told him unsold '22 duallys were showing up everywhere around me in near Dallas/Ft. Worth area. His exact words to me were, "I haven't been able to get a dually for 2 years. If I were you ....". I will say, I loved my old Ruby Red truck. But I don't care for the rapid red. I found a Tri-White Lariat. I wanted the LED lights, but you get what you get when Ford really restricted LED lights that year. Enjoy your new ride!

    I still find it crazy that trucks and SUV's from the Big 3 can now be easily spec'ed to cost over $100k. It doesn't seem that long ago when TFL made a big deal over the first one to be capable of that (I think it actually might have been an F-series truck or the Raptor). Though I can also remember a time when you could buy a nice house for $100k, and I'm only in my early 30's.

    JD, I would trade the truck in. Selling a vehicle to the public is a pain. I would take the air compressor and airbags off of your old truck, but leave everything else. I had to deal with a similar situation when I traded in my old Ram 3500 in on my new 3500. I went from a loaded 2018 Laramie to a 2022 loaded Limited Longhorn. The dealership gave me what I paid for my old truck and they had the new truck below MSRP. Who wouldn't buy the new truck? I can't wait to see your new truck on your channel.

    I took delivery of a '23 F250 SRW Lariat in May of this year and really enjoy it. The 6.7HO coupled to the 10 speed transmission is the towing dream team. And when you factor in all the ways the vehicle systems are interconnected, it makes towing even more fun.
    I traded my Rapid Red '21 F250 Lariat with the diesel and 10 speed and got $62,000...making the $87,500 price tag somewhat more palatable. I know I'm lying to myself but it helps me not cry when writing the check.
    I'm a carpet delete guy that loves to drive so I opt for fewer "driving aids" so I don't constantly have something dinging and/or vibrating. My "Lux" package Bronco is a serious case-in-point of too much junk...I recommend that others order the Mid package.
    As far as cool options are concerned, the gooseneck/5th wheel prep kit is the best buy. Interestingly, the 5 plastic trim rings that fill the gaps between the bed floor and hitch components are not installed from the factory...so warm them up and be patient...they fit but you have to nearly turn them inside out.
    You're gonna LOVE the retractable bed sidesteps...I'm 59 and "stocky" so it makes accessing the forward corners of the bed much easier and safer...
    I'll look forward to seeing the new rig early next year.

    This new truck will l be good for you and your channel. Leave all your upgrades and gadgets you had installed on your 2017. I'm sure there are new goodies out there for you to review and install on this new truck. My 2017 RAM 3500 Limited is paid off as well, but I don't think I'll be upgrading as I have just turned 200K miles on it, mostly highway. I maintain it very well and it still runs and functions like the day I bought it. I opted for the 3.42 rear gears which yield an average of 23mpg on the highway, while not towing. I love the H/O Cummins/Aisin package. My only upgrades have been Bilstein shocks and aftermarket 5th wheel prep, as RAM would not include it with the Ram Boxes.

    You make reference to the sales tax issue in benefit of trade in vs selling outright. I know that you are in Texas and I’m in Arkansas but here in Arkansas you can retain the tax benefit by selling directly to another owner. To do so you only have to have the new owner sign an affidavit that he purchased the vehicle. You then turn this in to the department of revenue when licensing the new vehicle. The forms are available through the revenue department or online. You might want to check to see if Texas allows this.

    Two things… Maybe it isn’t worth it for you, but I declined the factory bedliner because I found a local place that used the same material as Ford for 2/3rds the cost of the factory option.
    And maybe it’s not an issue anymore, but Ford was having trouble sourcing 5th wheel prep packages and it was delaying builds. With the aluminum body (and especially if you do it before you have a bedliner sprayed in) drilling into the bed to add it aftermarket can give you better options with no loss or risk.

  • @aaronbritt2025
    @aaronbritt2025 Год назад

    The way Ford does their packages, if you buy a trim and then option it up with every option included in the next trim level, it's always cheaper to buy the next trim. Curious why you opted for the FX4? Doesn't it decrease payload/towing? The nice thing about opting for the Ford camera is it displays on the built in screen, instead of requiring an extra screen placed on the dash or windshield. Regarding the Pro Power... If they ever come out with a hybrid SD, they'll up the wattage. I think a hybrid SD would be awesome. Imaging normally having 1200 Lb ft of torque to the rear wheels with an additional 800 Lb ft from an electric motor up front. They'd have to beef up the frame even more to maintain the 5k Lb. payload with the additional weight, but it's doable. They'd offset some of the weight getting rid of the transfer case, front axle and driveshaft.

    We went with the RAM 3500 Longhorn Limited. Just overall a better truck for towing a 5th wheel. Interior was better and the ride was way better while unloaded.

    I ordered 2023 F450 Limited and waited 14 months and jumped the ship to Ram 3500 Limited HO 6.7 DRW. You have lot less drama with Ram which it comes already with TPMS, Air Springs and don't need centramatic and better interior. F450 looks better from the front, back. I miss 10 speed. My last truck was 2020 F350 DRW 6.7 Lariat. So, mpg on empty on Ram is about 15 mpg when driving around 77 mph.

    Yes the used car market is really bad. It’s partly why I’ve not bought another vehicle. I’ve gone without a car now for 3.5 years.
    I’d love to get another vehicle but with the higher prices it just doesn’t make sense.
    Of course yes myself personally there is a separate issue I’m building a beach house and if you’ve been down that path yourself you know it a money pit. But yes it’s a worthwhile money pit but buying a car during isn’t a good idea. So I’ll wait. But great on you JD. Do the trade in it’s the best option for your situation.
    And yes review what add ons you did that would make sense for you to remove.

    If you trade it in, definitely pull all the aftermarket stuff off. You won't get anything for it. If you sell it private party, leave it all on. That could actually add a decent value for someone who's seen all the cool accessories you've added and wants a turn-key rig. I'm considering selling my Suburban and upgrading to an F-350 SRW in the next year or so.

I also bought rear fender liners after I bought it and installed myself. I get offers for my 450 of right at 80 k and I payed 89k when I ordered it .

    My opinion. Updated truck. Get updated accessories. So you have no doubt they will work with the new truck. Plus. There might be even better accessories than what is on the old truck. Either way. I hope you get it and enjoy.

    You can set up a deal with the dealer to sell to a private party and buy new in the same day, it will still save you the tax and the dealer gets financing kick backs. It will save you even more in taxes because you will get over trade in. Dealer can take a small commission in get a deal done in a day with no refurbishing or money tied up in inventory.

    Get new everything, well mostly everything. Let's say you switch the air bags over, now you have used bags on a new truck. If a bag leaks because they are older you are going to regret just not going new. I ordered a 2024 king ranch 350 and decided to just buy new everything instead of using the parts off of my 2019 350 XLT. I just don't want to go through the Hassel of removing everything and then if theres issues with it on the brand new truck I would feel funny having to fix something or just end up buying it in the end. Just my thoughts.

    On the priority codes, the lower the number the better. Only Ford corporate can lower the number below 10, 19 is the standard retail order number from the dealerships. Might be able to get them to put it at 11 and it should be pushed to the front of the line over other orders, but the issue is that it's a F-450 Platinum and very few have been built due to the shortages they have been having.

    If all the add ons with the '17 are cross compatible and aren't going to give you extra $$ then take them. The dealer will use them as a selling point and make money off that. Take what you can. Also take advantage of the take in price
