I ADORE how musically and lyrically serious they were on Hotline To Heaven and on the 2nd album. They wrote about drug abuse on this fabulous track and later did again on True Confessions brilliant Hooked On Love. Unfortunately, Bananarama have NEVER been given the credit they deserve for their political, smart and sassy lyrical genius! Here's a beautiful performance on British television for Hotline To Heaven, how I wan't Siobhan's Vivienne Westwood top, with only the squiggles on the top and sleeves. And Sara looks so brilliannnnt, punky 1984 chic with big hair and big designer glasses, oh yeah * SO PERFECT * I WISH this performance could have been included on the re-issue 2nd album DVD, sigh xxxx And if only they did a tour with the band for the 2nd album, it would have been SO beautifully and spititually gooooorgeouuuuus xxx
TheNouveauxdecadence The vocals and production style in the 1984 era in particular were very ethereal, very similar to early 90s band Lush. I think Siobhan recycled that top on the record sleeve photo for Love In The First Degree. I am going to see the reunited line-up in December, I really hope they do at least one or two of these fan favourite tracks like this and Trick of the Night.
Someone just pointed out that it's The Adventures playing as their backing 'band' here. Sara was dating one of them (the guitar player in the black t-shirt at the front) around this time.
Wow! (no pun intended) The Banana's WITHOUT a bunch of jock-flopping, gay-wad, hunky-boys clad in black leather g-strings... &&&& an ACTUAL BAND of ACTUAL MUSICIANS sharing the stage????? WHODA THUNK?????
Omg that's the band The Adventures!! Love the guitar solo and the player
