I go to Arkansas but my dad went to Wisco and I must say this is my favorite band to watch. The Big 10 really is solid throughout with band presentation! Much better than the SEC!
NOBODY takes to the field like Michigan, but Wisconsin! When you hit the field running, you better have the balls and the band to BRING IT, and they both do!
Wisconsin & Minnesota are the only Big Ten marching bands that have never won the prestigious Sudler Trophy and recognized as a top marching band by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. Michigan was the very first college marching band to be recognized by the Sousa Foundation and to be awarded the Sudler Trophy in 1982. Since then 9 other Big Ten schools have won the Trophy, which is considered the Heisman Trophy of college band awards.
Memorizing music is preferable, but flip folders are really not that big of a deal. I totally dig the Drum major routine and backbend. Are those metal clarinets?
Joel F ever been to a college football game more than 5 minutes before kickoff? Probably somewhere around 45 mins to a hour before kickoff I’m sure. It’s Wisconsin, they pack Badger Stadium every home game.
@jphermann94 Ohio State does it... I would think such a "good" band would be capable of memorizing their own music. Also, awesome timing with those Sousaphone 270 spins at the beginning.
UW's step is challenging, exhausting, and very difficult. They have some of the best musicians of any university, but the exhaustion and the bounce in the step show up in lack of intonation and precision in the sound (cracked notes, inconsistent entrance and cutoff, etc.) The music is easy (enabling changing the shows) as is the drill design (it's only the step that makes this challenging), so why can't they memorize it? UW is good enough to do corps style, but they're stuck in the 1930's.
All this bitching about flip folders. They're fucking FLIP FOLDERS. Who gives a shit. And stop complaining about which band is best. There are lots of great bands, who all do their own unique things. We have the stop-at-the-top, the legendary 5th Quarter, and indeed, we use FLIPFOLDERS. All I know is that we rock the house when we perform. I'm sure you other bands do, too. If you think anything else matters, then you probably should have never started playing music in the first place.
@jphermann94 real bands can learn how to march and memorize music at the same time. however, your band's entrance while yelling "ass and titties" really reflects the classiness of your university
🙂 Thank you for keeping this in cyberspace. Peace to you and yours.
I don't know if people realize how hard that was to do. Well done
Bed marching band in college history hands down

That was Awesome! My high school in Washington state plays on Wisconsin for their fight song.
I was part of this!!
NOBODY takes to the field like Michigan, but Wisconsin! When you hit the field running, you better have the balls and the band to BRING IT, and they both do!
Dang, that's more excersize than I get all week!
i like this entrance, I wish that first cadence was played for the whole run on. Very cool and unique marching style
you really got to be in shape to do this...lol
Great video! And being from Omro, exceptionally proud of Alex, and his band mate Brian Bradley.
bluekooekoo , yes! I am from Winneconne.

+BillVol That's why Wisconsin band has won numerous awards, as did Mike Leckrone.
Goosebumps. YEP!
Amazing marching band.
finally a good video of the run on!
@zan917 They are white plastic clarinets.
Drum major shows a lot of pep!!!!!!!!!!
@buckeyenutz05 I love how you made Michigan into a swear word haha. B1G Pride!
On, Wisconsin!!!
And holy bad horn angles!
Memorizing music is preferable, but flip folders are really not that big of a deal. I totally dig the Drum major routine and backbend. Are those metal clarinets?
they’re white plastic!
Our band can out drink your band!
On Wisconsin!
Wait... Ohio has a band?
Gotta gives props to the tubas cause the bass line they were playing was on point
How do they have enough breath to play after jogging around so long?
Badger Band RULES!! Requires more physical fitness than being on the team that frequently does go to the Rose Bowl!
Yea no the football team is more physically fit than the band
@Life of Hi gonna have to agree with you.
I want to be that dude with the mace :D
Thats a huge band...
watching this so that i can do the rafer alston skip to my lou
Amen!
I did not expect for there to be such a debate in the comments when I clicked...
+plaidkazoo It takes a lot of skill to do that, jealousy is an ugly trait.
+Fuck all Weeaboos, fanboys/fangirls and other retards! I don't follow.
plaidkazoo I don't know why people like to fight over shit on the internet.
Texas A&M Fighting Texas Aggie Band!!!
Who won that game?
@jphermann94
Finally, someone talks some sense!
why is no body in the stands? is it practice or a game?
Joel F ever been to a college football game more than 5 minutes before kickoff? Probably somewhere around 45 mins to a hour before kickoff I’m sure. It’s Wisconsin, they pack Badger Stadium every home game.
In no order I think Wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan and Ohio State are the best Big Ten bands. Not sure who I would put 5th
@brysanna that's what I was thinking.... lol
sounds
USC wouldn't stand a chance... they already can't keep up with Cal or Washington's bands...
This was very strange. And yeah, I'm in the MSU SMB and we never use flip folders.
do they march woodwinds, like tenor sax?
@jphermann94 Ohio State does it... I would think such a "good" band would be capable of memorizing their own music. Also, awesome timing with those Sousaphone 270 spins at the beginning.

6 people are from ohio state!
the badgers band is really good
@ekdog91 The Badgers! 70-3
@lucaspinoli He didn't make M*ch*g@n into a swear word..us buckeyes just refuse to say their name...
I'm from Minnesota, so I am not a big UW fan, but UW's run on is vastly superior to the OSU run on. Much more exciting and athletic.
I don't think soo
Minnesota ;))
Indiana.
And who cares if they use flip folders? Better to know your music than to play a crap ton of wrong notes in front of a huge audience like that.
Wi band is the best on Wi
too bad no one is there when this contrived, dinky band takes the field...ND Band is the best

ohio state has the best damn band in the land
Good for you
I'm from Wisconsin, but I really don't like their band. It's....eh.....
LOL...flip charts for a band you say is the best in the nation???
@jphermann94 real bands can learn how to march and memorize music at the same time. however, your band's entrance while yelling "ass and titties" really reflects the classiness of your university
I cant stand watching college bands. Ill stick to drum corps
that's a weak back bend. the u of mn drum major this year had to take off his hat to do his back bends because he was a few inches off the ground.
Back bends are weak. Penn State probably has a more exciting drum major tradition. See for yourself (if you don't flip out, of course).
ohio state does better than that run on
the run was first by Ohio state and will always and will only be a ohio state tradition GO BUCKS!
NOT!!!
Ohio state is much better this sound awful and the crowd sucks
NOT!!!
