The crude translation into English is very poor, it completely loses the context of what they’re saying to each other by using modern language, the emperor and Wei Yingluo’s interactions are much more complex using terminology from the time period of the 1740’s

@@gameone5522 watch Story of Yanxi Palace and then watch Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace who have the same historical figures but are portrayed differently. So how do you tell which one is accurate? Fictional dramas can be inspired by historical figures but at the end of the day, they're fictional dramas and are not docu-series. If you watch a fictional historical drama thinking that it's real then I feel sorry for you.

Magnificent century is a good series. It's not a Chinese drama but it's about the ottoman(I might of spelled this wrong) empire . But it's a harem story like this.

in East Asia, the imperial/royal family (the ruler and his main consort, his mother, the harem, & the children) DO NOT actually finish all the food set on the table (a full table setting was actually A LOT in normal circumstances), instead the "leftovers" (what wasn't eaten) can be given to their many servants as a sort of reward (in the Emperor's case, the harem including its ruler the Empress were included)
TL;DR the eunuchs taking the food away meant that Wei Ying'luo already ate Qianlong's "reward portions" for her for the day

Once they eat the same dish thrice, the eunuch will remove the dish so that they will not overindulge and they will not serve the same dish for the next few weeks. That is to prevent easier poisoning on their favorite dish.
@@consciouscreator2526 in East Asia a specific eunuch or lady-in-waiting already have that unlikeable job of poison testing; they're actually the ones who first get to "eat"
