I have a different style but i love your videos. Giving your models a story is genius makes painting that much more fun. Its the random advice like that makes your a great channel.
This is super inspiring to do something with this "meh" printed dreadnought I bought 1 yr ago on my mini painting journey. This is will be my 1st painted 40k model. It's chipped, beat up, but printed decently. I hope to give it the grimdark treatment that will make this machine look gorgeous as was intended. Thank you
I love the battle damage in your videos. Deffinatley the most realistic paint jobs ive ever seen. makes me think of the old battlescarred gundam figures.
I really REALLY love your take on the Grimdark style. Still colorful but grim. And I personally feel the effects stand out way better against colorful minis.
Dirty down rust is great only if you don't want to varnish the miniature. There is no varnish after trying many that leaves the rust effect looking the same it did when applied. Don't varnish though and then you need to be really careful to never get water on the model by accident as the dirty down being water based will reactivate and run.
Yea noted. Thanks for sharing. Had a few ask me this. But as I only paint for display I never varnish. But again thanks for sharing. Always wondered what a varnish would do ✌🏼
Just in time for me to paint my own dreadnought, however I'll be going white consuls so dirty down rust could be to extreme, but hey worth a shot. Keep up the amazing videos, I love what your putting out!
A very nice video. Love the techniques you use. The crackle paint...awesome. What I do wonder is how you got the text so very nice on the mini. Like '*Sabine*'. My freehand is really bad, but yours is almost like it is printed...very jalous.
Love it, this channel's stuff has been awesome so far, keep it up. This video especially had me wondering how you might do the weathering on something that doesn't chip or rust at all. Like Eldar Wraithguard, or some flavor of Necron, I'd be super curious to see how you'd approach something like that!
@@TheFeralPainter I'll second this suggestion! Sci-fi and fantasy settings are chock full of fictional super materials that are magically impervious to the kinds of real world damage that most weathering techniques try to replicate. Showing that a metal doesn't rust or that it self heals or whatever by just not doing those weathering steps on it just makes for a boring mini with no stories to tell. I suspect your take on the concept would be much more interesting!
Awesome video. My Adepta Sororitas are going to stay squeaky clean, as anyone so much as showing up with a scratch on their armour is straight off to the Repentia. But I figure this stuff'll be great for my Genestealer Cults and Astra Militarum.
I do a lot of weathering on my Adepta Sororitas and it looks really good. Then again, I'm an Order of the Bloody Rose fan so it makes sense for them to be scratched up.
I have always liked weathering over a "chunky highlight" for minis. All the more power to those who love the 'Eavy Metal stuff, but grimdark to me just looks way better overall.
Amazing stuff mate, love it! I've been getting back into the hobby after over a decade of lugging my mostly badly/unpainted Warhammer around with me as I've moved around and these videos have really been helping! I've decided to paint all my old blue boys in this grimdark style and all my new stuff in shiny new red armour, telling a story of transition for myself as a painter. I'm trying to add battle damage appropriate to the xenos that they've fought and it's mostly Tyranids and Orks for me. Have you got any tips on adding acid damage and other such unique weapon damage types to a model? Thanks 🙂
Hi man!! Thanks for the very kind words. I am in the process of making these styles of blood acid etc. I’d love to see how to make bubble paint. Atm I use technical paints. And crackle paint, I always mix a little gloss in the paint too for blood. But it’s something I’m playing with. Including experimenting with glue x Again massive thanks x
@@TheFeralPainter Of course, you deserve the credit! I don't think you smaller RUclipsrs really understand how impactful your videos can be. Straight to the point, informative, but also humble which makes us noobies feel that we can actually achieve what you do so effortlessly 🙂 If it helps, I found UHU Glue recently (yellow tube) and it (along with some very shiney gloss) is PERFECT for drool on my kid's Tyranid models. I feel like I need to very very carefully and selectively use heat to melt a model in very acute sections to give an acid damage effect, but this is tough on a miniature scale. Maybe some plastic glue left to melt and sag a section of armour might work? I'm going to do some experimenting, hehe. Thanks for the reply too, hope you have a good one 👍
Again thanks for the beautiful words! I’m glad it can help. And yea that sounds great! Might have to play with that, and maybe some uv resin as I know you can put bubbles in them x
Could you let me know what you use to apply these black washes? Maybe a link? Also what kind of black wash is this, I don't seem to find the exact brand. Thanks!
Its black ammo by mig. (Not sure if in production now) And it just uses mineral spirits and a small brush to pin wash. Search pin washes there are lots of tutorials 😉 hope that helps thanks again
Can you please help me I got a few questions. Which color do I use on my green dark angels deadnougght for weathering ? Leadbelcher, black or something else ? And can I edge highlight it and then use the sponge weathering technic or doesn’t that make sense ?
Black chips with a little leadbelcher in a select few would work great! Yea u can mix the sponge and edge highlights, I edge highlight first then do chips. 👌🏻👌🏻 hope that helps x thanks
wtf is this.. some kind of black magic.. I just bought starter pack with 3 marines and if it comes up as something I can chill with I am gonna go with this next
That s an awesome Smurf war coffin !!
Love that 😂😂😂
The depth illusion on the damage is amazing, just a little highlight adds so much!
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed x
you're painting is amazing!
Thank you so much 😀

Wow, thank you!
Fast becoming one of my favourite channels mate. Keep it coming
Means so much thanks
just bought a dreadnought as my first ever model. looking forward to painting it. Really love the weathered effect on this one!
Very cool! Welcome aboard man
Very late to the game but I had to comment. The back story you give to your minis is what makes them brilliant. Binge watching.
Thanks man 👌🏻👌🏻

Glad you like it! Thanks so much for the kind words
Awesome finish

Thanx man, now I'm addicted to your channel... Fml
Glad you enjoy it!
Man... WHY don't your videos have, like, 100k+ views??!?!?!?
I wish hahahaha but thanks means a lot

Glad they helped!!!
Deadly paint job!

Really dig your version of grimdark!

Really enjoy this Video. Looking forward to the Dirty Down Rust Video as I really struggle with this stuff
Coming soon
Very cool 😎 I'll definitely be doing something like this to dreadnought 😊
Thanks so much dude!! Enjoy!!
Amazing stuff as usual. Your painting style has really inspired me to paint more weathering. I went off and bought a set of the dirty down rust stuff.
Great to hear! I hope u have fun!! And again thanks so so much for the kind words
It's beautiful
Thanks a bunch

Looks great. You didn't say if you did a final varnish coat, or does it still reactivate the Dirty Down so you leave.

Another banger thanks for the content big fella
Any time!
Great video! Would be interested how you did the base line that too mate
Thanks so much
That black wash step looks amazing! What you reccemond the same wash for a white armoured vehicle?
Yes that or a dark brown

Thanks so much bro
Also Tamiya panel liner is a great alternative for recess shading. Also an enamel
Yea would love to try that
It’s great. Comes with an amazing thin brush in the pot too. Get the black and brown colours and you’re sorted
Would love to see a video done on pale sickly skin done in your style if possible.
There’s one on there already. ☺️☺️✌🏼 grimdark skintones on my channel

Instant sub.

Hi when you are making the scratches in different area are you using black paint or the wash?
Rinox hide
Omg... what kind of brush is that you are using to apply the pin wash Mig?!
Just a cheap eBay one from a pack. Link is in my bio ☺️ hope that helps

Hi buddy, give me a clue...
How did you paint the little square on the right knee? I cannot, too small....

Thanks. This was a transfer cut to shape
Thanks@@TheFeralPainter
what did you use or how do you make those corrosion like damage on the armour panels?

Green stuff world. (Any colour) i got a grey one to match plastic

Mineral spirits/white spirits- typically known as ghosts. Jokes haha.
Its a thinner for enamel based paints
