Thanks! This game has an amazing atmosphere and soundtrack, so it's worth checking out if you like metroidvania type games. My favorite game of all time for sure.
You made the whole cover with only one acoustic guitar... sometimes in unusual way - and it sounds like one of the best Crystal Peak covers ever. So beautiful.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that. It was fun trying to get different sounds out of my guitar to try and complete the piece. I have my eye on a few other things where I might do something similar. Should be interesting :)
@@TrumanWilson That is great! Looking forward for it. :) Also I'd like to hear some more Hollow Knight covers - such as Soul Sanctum, Sealed Vessel.. well, these are pretty intense (and they're some of my favourite soundtracks).. So, maybe Kingdom's Edge? I think it would be interesting.
@@Katelline98 Sealed Vessel is probably my favorite track from the album :) It is very intense though so I'd need to work up the skill to be able to do it, but hopefully some day. I definitely have a few more Hollow Knight tracks on my list though. I think the next one I'm planning to do from HK is Queen's Gardens. Its maybe 3 or 4 tracks down the line. When Silksong comes out I'm sure I'll have a really long list :)
Thanks so much! That means a lot to me. When I bought the eBow and first tried it out, this song came to mind immediately. I thought it would be fun to try and capture all of the background ambiance. I didn't change up much but I wanted to see how close I could get using only my guitar for all of the layers. :)
There are too many bangers on this OST for me to choose. Thanks so much for the nice comments! I may have gotten the chopstick idea from someone else 😅
Wow! This is some excellent work. I really appreciate all the effort and creativity to recreate this specific ambience. It sounds very beautiful. Also, the video editing is really nice and makes it even more enjoyable to watch. Congratulations!
Thanks Soranda, I really appreciate it. I took a lot of time to select the right game scenes to fit the energy of the piece. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
Hey, I came across this in research for an undergrad essay on Hollow Knight, and I want to let you know - this cover stands out a lot! I haven't found many HK covers I've really enjoyed/felt captured the vibe, but this is great - I love how controlled and balanced the sound feels, and you really explored everything your instrument had to offer; I'm gonna stick this in some playlists.
Hey, thanks! I really appreciate that. I really love these types of ambient pieces and I'm glad that I was able to do something to capture the atmosphere of the original. I'm very inspired by Hollow Knight and its music and this all came together surprisingly quickly compared to some other things that I've done. I hope that it made your essay writing more enjoyable. Hollow Knight would be a really fun subject to study for school. Good luck and I hope that you get a good grade on this one :)
@@TrumanWilson it shows! This is one of those pieces that not everyone can get quite right due to how many details it has; you're the first musician I've listened to who pulled it off 💪🏽
Hi Lucca! I really happy that you enjoyed this and that you shared it with your friends. Its one of my favorite games and soundtracks. I hope I will be able to do more from it soon!
Thanks Kyle! It was definitely a lot of fun to do and opens up a lot of covers that might not work solo too. Its easier in some ways but creates new challenges as well in thinking about how to create all of the sounds and texture that you want. It'd be awesome if you gave it a go too some time.
Hey, I really appreciate that! I've learned quite a lot lately about doing mixes by doing some collabs on the Collab Playground channel. Its really helped me learn a lot about balancing different tracks and its fun to be able to put it into practice.
Definitely my favorite game too :) There were some that I played growing up that I never thought would be passed but this one is something special. As far as the tutorial goes, I don't think any of the parts had special techniques particularly other than the chopsticks. The chopsticks aren't too bad either honestly, the string tension lets it bounce back after each strike so it stays pretty well balanced. For the harmonics part, I used a spider capo just to keep the sound of my hand sliding around to a minimum, but otherwise its mostly just natural harmonics. Let me clean up the tabs a little bit tonight and I'll put a link in the description so that you can have a look. I'll ping you here when I get them up and you can let me know if you have any questions about it.
@Proving I updated the description with a link to the tabs for the 3 main parts. I don't have transcriptions for what I played on the eBow. The chopsticks part would sound find if you fingerpicked it too, so no worries there. Let me know if you have any questions.
I have the eBow holding some sustained notes over a few of the tracks that take the place of where someone might use tremolo instead. It does have an eerie sound that was different from what I expected when I bought it, but its been fun to figure out how to used it in stuff. Hopefully more to come soon.
Haha, it's something a friend of mine was experimenting with to try to make a guitar sound like a hammered dulcimer that I thought would work well here. It actually wasn't particularly hard, since the tension in the strings gives you the bounce back you need to get back into position for the next note.
The release was delayed by about a week, but this track is now up on streaming services. Check out the description for links if you are interested.
i’ve never played this game before, so i wasnt even sure what sound to expect but WOW that was amazing.

this was so perfectly beautiful, such an accurate cover. I wouldn't have noticed the difference if it was ingame.

Really captures the feeling of being there
I'm glad you think so :) thanks for listening.
Holy moly this turned out great!! This is my favourite theme from Hollow Knight AND HOLY HECK THE CHOPSTICK TECHNIQUE

It was so good to see this piece come to life! The production quality is amazing, your best work so far. Also I want an eBow now. 5 stars.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I really appreciate all of the advice you provided throughout. It really made it come together well :)
👍👍👍
The best cover of this OST for sure
I really appreciate that! Thanks for taking the time to check it out :)

Yes! I'm glad you are. This is my favorite OST so I hope there will be many more :)
Sounds beautiful, well done!
Thank you very much :)
Dude, this is so sick!! Sounds amazing
Thanks so much for checking it out! Surprisingly this came together much faster than some of my solo guitar stuff, haha.
Perfect, just perfect
Thanks, I really appreciate that. I put more work into this one than usual to get all of the pieces in place so I'm really glad that you enjoyed it :)

It's perfect cover that I heard ever!
Thanks! I'm really happy with how it ended up coming together.
Wonderful cover! I love that game. Shared the video with my friends! Greetings from Brazil =)

So creative, man! We’re those…🥢 chopsticks? Especially liked the palm muted chords through the back half.
Yo Josh! That means a lot man. And yeah, I'm going to break out all of the cutlery in the future.
Increíble de verdad, te quedó muy bien!

Sounds like a Tool song, hahah. This is great!
Very high praise, I appreciate it! I guess the heavy chords in the second half are doing some good work :)
😮😮😮😮 i even dont uderstand which technique it was, sounds like a Tremolo but its very hard to realise...

@@TrumanWilson thanks for explainig 😇 😇😇😇
Just trying to analyse a sound through youtube often too difficult in clues😖
No problem at all :) Its not too common of a device for YT covers so its something I'm getting familiar with myself.
What’s the technique with the chopstick 😂 I’ve never seen it
