There are times in life when the OEM parts are mandatory, and there are times when the OEM parts are insane (as in the sticker shock). It all depends, and most of the time it's trial and error in order to learn when to spend the money and when not to. In this case, I have to say that those aftermarket parts look pretty good, so I'd say that it's safe to use the aftermarket parts. Time will always tell, but if you're vouching for it based on your experience, then I'm in your corner. On another note, what brand of 2 cycle oil do you prefer??? I've recently switched to the Echo Red Armor and it seems to be pretty good.
We are closer to Lowe's than HD. I've been using Husqvarna Mix b/c its synthetic and mixing it on my own with regular gas. I know people say to use prememium fuel but I'm too cheap/forget to use fill up. My husky been running fine that way for last 6-7 years.
Agree with OEM...thats why its important to do things on your own. Lets say you risk using a NON-OEM part you know exactly ehat to do if it fails vs paying someone again.
Sometimes I wonder why I waste my time cleaning carbs even with a high sucess rate.
Take carb off and apart soak it, blow it out. Clean all the jets ect and it still runs like shit.
Experienced this the other day, 518 ZR running extremely rich. Was popping too. Slapped on a $17 carb in 15min. Thing runs like a top. OEM carb was $70.
I agree on the spark plugs. I only use NGK or champion. 💪
I tend to believe I'm numbers a person. The numbers when it comes to effort and applied time vs new just doesn't ad up to me. Specially 2 Stroke and Honda Like Carbs that can't be rebuilt. I'm not polishing anything...if a quick and dirty with idle clean doesn't get it runnig new one goes! Still can't comprehend Honda carbs aren't studded like their copy cats!
