Awesome, I think bleeding them out helps improve the taste. Let us know how the taste test turns out!

I was the single client he mentions😊. Awesome trip - he really knows his stuff. Between the two of us we must have caught around 18-20 (I caught 11 ; did not count how many he got). All were in that same size range. He also put me on my first bull drum (45”). Not bad for a 4 hour trip. Great day on the water.

I always bleed my fish now since the quality of the meat improves tremendously also it helps to dispatch the fish faster. They do not suffer as long in comparison to just let them suffocate to death. Btw, I always find myself enjoy your videos and learn a lot from them. Thanks and tight lines!

In the spearfishing world it is common practice to brain the fish, bleed and gut immediately upon harvest. I think it makes a huge difference in the quality of the meat. I do it with all my line caught fish as well. Thanks for sharing this info.

I never bleed out the fish, but I'm always in my kayak. Talk about an attraction! What does the bled vs non-bled fish taste like? Nice video bud.

you must be kidding what an incredible waste of meat left on those fish that your just throwing out

Yeah you can still cut out the bloodline at an angle and save some. I use a Bubba too but also with a skinny fillet knife for the detail work.

By all means show me a better way. I am always down to learn something, yet I'm not going to spend 30 minutes cleaning 1 fish

@@SouthernReelsFishing Most of these dudes that complain about waste don't catch much . I like to stay in the 10% that catches 90%. Keep em tight bro.

Great video, you are always full of inspiration. I really don’t know about the taste of sheephead being better , but in other fish that I have bled the taste is always a lot better. Not a strong, not as fish very mild always improves the flavor.

As big as that sheep was you wasted a lot of meat on it
You didn’t even use the scraps as chum

I always bleed mine if for no other reason than there wont be blood all over the kitchen when I process my catch. I like to throw some seawater in the cooler full of ice and then cut their gills and throw them right in the icy saltwater. Icy and saltwater gets very cold, the fish bleed out and are chilled well enough to fillet easily when I get home

Good video. I believe in kill immediately with a spike and then bleed em out, then on ice. Next step, which I have yet to do, is the Ike Jimi wire to short circuit the nervous system, The Japanese do it for a reason so I need to try that as well. I seen it done and it seems fairly quick but it is another step to perform - does it really make a difference? I know bleeding them does.

Do you bleed out fish when on your kayak? How do you manage to do that with out making a big mess. I would like to do it on my kayak. I love your channel and have been watching for years and am always inspired to be a better fisherman. Maybe you could demonstrate how it is done on a kayak, but I get that you are a busy man! Take care

Yes, I use a large metal hoop stringer and cut the gills and let them bleed out in the water. Always use a snap clip on the stringer though just in case a shark shows up and grabs it.

I think if most people were blindfolded and give it a piece of each they couldn't tell the difference what is the meat to the bone ratio on a fish like that it looks like it's very little meat

A sheepshead that size has enough meat to make four adult sized portions
