    Been a long time mile hi fan (and customer). When ownership changed I sent y’all a note with advice to make cool social videos. THIS is amazing and makes me appreciate my mile hi still sooooo much! Great freaking video. I always knew magic was involved in making these stills and this video proves it! Proud of you all!

    Hello from Iran. Your videos are informative and helpful. So I will go to school tomorrow to learn tig welding.
    We use silver welding wire (70% copper, 30% tin). Is it the same for you!?
    a question; Did you use the pulse system when welding?

    It's your camera sensor trying to adjust to the sudden change in intensity of light, Since you are welding in a dark place.Add to this the barrel is moving.

      Okay, thanks! That's what we were thinking, but don't know enough about cameras. Are you aware of a way to adjust it to where it doesn't do this? It sounds like we're SOL

    Hey Boo, great episode. So, I was reading the comments as always, so Mike sold the company? Just curious. Talk soon, and great job on all of the videos...

      Thanks, my brother! Yep, Mike sold the company to our lead welder, Noe last year. Appreciate your compliments and all your support as always, Mark.

    Your welders are true artist..Looks awesome... On the shotgun condencers, Do you install baffles or offer them?
    Thanks in advance...

      Thanks, Terry! We take a lot of pride in our work! We don't install baffles, just the inner tubes shown. We don't offer them with baffles at the time, but it's something we can look into in the future! Lots of testing would need to be done to make sure they work appropriately like that, but I'll definitely put this on our Summer project list.

      A friend has a 2" x 24" shotgun w/ baffles can knock down a 4500 watt element....

    I would love to know the specifics about the welding technique. Tungsten geometry, shielding gas, filler rod material, current (DC earth neutral I assume). Are the end caps 304 Stainless?

    • @milehidistilling1
      @milehidistilling1  6 месяцев назад +2

      Hey, Chris. We're using Argon as our gas, and silicon bronze as our feeder rod. We keep it old school and use 2% thoriated for our tungsten. Every welder is different, but Noe, our lead welder, suggests between 60 to 90 amps. . Here in Colorado, the weather and humidity affects things on the amperage for us so he recommends finding your sweet spot that works for you. Yes, we're on DC straight and the ends caps are 304 SS.

      @@milehidistilling1 Thank you for the details. What Silicon Bronze wire do you use that is safe in an ethanol vapor environment?

    Classic music for classic fab work😅
    Ive gotta ask, what # grit on belt sander, and size, type of electrode color?
    Another great job in fabrication and video quality!

    • @milehidistilling1
      @milehidistilling1  6 месяцев назад

      That's right, we gotta keep things classic! We're running a 2"x36" belt with an 80 grit, made out of cubic zirconium. Sorry, I'm not aware of what you mean by the electrode color if I'm being honest.

      Thanx for the grit#! What size i.e. 5/32, and lantham, thoriated,ect. They all have standard colors to match each type.

    I see you were fusion welding the inner copper pipes at the end instead of using rod. What amperage was your TIG set to?

    How hard is it to get stainless to weld together with copper?

    • @milehidistilling1
      @milehidistilling1  6 месяцев назад +1

      It can get really sticky, it definitely needs some practice to get right!
