Thanks for the review Morgan. Nice riding paired with some sick trails. What are your thoughts on the mapping differences? Does this bike come with the 3 different auxiliary springs for the pv? - Buffalo N.Y.
@@highlandcycles looks clean. Nothing to catch your boots or pants while going for the pivot. Might get one myself. I imagine I’ll will have to budget for some cartridges in the forks. The air fork might not suit hard enduro.
Would love to see the fuel range or mpg in this type of riding. Seriously considering this bike but often have rides of 50 to 60 mile days and are questioning if it will work for that. Thank you. Great vids. 👍
KTM/etc is consistently good, for the most part. I do have a 2022 GasGas EX300 and it's very tepid compared to my old 18 300xcw. I'm currently converting to TBI and adding a RKTek head as well - so it should be a fire-breather in no time! Also going to try out the race tech spring conversion. The air forks aren't bad - they seem better for high speed action - but for all the slow rocky Colorado gnar I am hoping the spring will be better.. we will see.. next new bike I hope to get a 24 300xcw with all those improvements.. !
You’ll be happy. This thing fixed everything wrong with TPI (at least if it doesn’t break). These air forks are much better than previous ones but they aren’t as good in the rocks as my setup XPlor forks.
Race Tech has some really good stuff. I bought the gold valve kit for my AER 48 forks on my 18 300 XC and it made then night and day better. Shortly after, I found a guy selling his KYB SSS converted forks and I convinced him to trade for my air forks and a bit of cash. TBH, I would rate them just a hair below my revalved air forks, which surprises me because I fought the stock fork for so long. I'm a believer in revalves now. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you decide.

Yes. This would be fine for an intermediate rider. The motor is easily manageable. The mellow map is really good for that and the hot map is only crazy when you twist it hard. The biggest thing a slower rider will “struggle” with will be the suspension. In stock form it is pretty harsh going slow.

Glad you like it !!! I feel like KTM did their homework with the TBI, lets see. Q: when you turn the bike off and then on again does it stay in the mode you left it in or does it go back to default ?
6 gears is ideal. I prefer my 1st gear to be low enough to walk beside the bike without running or burning up the clutch. Technical rocky rides need a low gear, especially when you're pooped at the end of the day.
It would be interesting to see how your '23 compares to my 2020 300 xc. Never any issues and 175 hrs on stock top end, apparently not everyone had oil pump failures!
I ditched the air forks on my 23 I couldn't get them to a place where I felt comfortable. Mostly they felt jittery or became too stiff without any happy medium. Just got them back, hopefully the spring helps 😁
@@highlandcycles Maybe but I have seen air forks come and go for many years. Starting with Yamaha late 70s or early 80s even just a few years ago Kawasaki had them now they don't. I mean you don't even like air in your tires! LOL
I have a friend with a newer fuel injected model....... has to be rebuilt every 60 to 80 hours because it runs so lean......... I have a 2010 carb model....... 300 hrs. Just saying.
@@highlandcycles my 2010 is closed course too......... red sticker. So they changed the fuel injection? What did they do differently? I dunno I will stick with my old bike I suppose
@@willrector9716 yours is from before a bunch of stuff especially in the EU. The big thing they changed was where they were injecting the fuel. Before it was raw fuel into the transfer port and dribbling oil in and hoping it mixed well. Mine is like your bike. Just just no carb. It injects pre mixed fuel and oil in the same place that a carb sends it into the motor.
@@highlandcycles Really interested in the suspension. I have a '19 XCW 300 and have added an XP-One kit to it which helped but it still isn't where I want it. New chassis, AER forks and linkage might be more to my liking and style of riding. Alternatively I won't buy a new bike but will add WP 6500 inserts to the old bike. As a comparison I did have a '20 te250 and really liked the suspension on that bike, seemed more plush and responsive to small low speed hits and better at dealing with higher speeds as well.
No amount of valving fixes those forks lol, cheap design is the problem and ktm gets away with it because what's another 1500 for inserts when your spending 13k on a dirtbike.
So KTM finally got the 2 stroke ok. Finally as the 2019 to 2022's where junk. I know as I own one. Worst peice of crap I ever owned. I see the expansion chamber no longer has the ribbing on the bend. Air fork requires air pressure adjusted to your needs as you know, and ....

It would be interesting to see how your '23 compares to my 2020 300 xc. Never any issues and 175 hrs on stock top end, apparently not everyone had oil pump failures!
It’s not alway an oil pump failure unfortunately. Just shot a video comparing this to a TPI out on the trails.
Thanks, looking forward to seeing that video!
The air forks to me on a cross country Enduro bike is a BIG mistake in my book.
I used to agree but we are getting them dialed in and have seen very few failures with the most recent iteration
Have you ridden modern air forks? They are pretty dang good.
I will add that there is a much bigger difference in 2s vs 4s front end feel for the same models.
Yes have ridden with air forks they are a little harsh. For MX would be ok but off road would say no. A good set of coil spring forks set them and forget them. I mean you don't even like air in your tires! LOL
Morgan 😂
Yep
🤘👍😁
🤘🏻
да, пиздатый мопед) i like it
I have a friend with a newer fuel injected model....... has to be rebuilt every 60 to 80 hours because it runs so lean......... I have a 2010 carb model....... 300 hrs. Just saying.
I feel the same way but this is very different from his TPI
@@highlandcycles oh really? So they don't lean it out to 100/1? It is a California bike maybe that's why......
@@willrector9716 kinda. The new XC models are closed course only and are back to premix.
300 but youride like a 250 guy
Yep. That’s why I wear tires out 🤣😂
So do you like it or not? LOL
🤣😂
Not helpful at all. This is going to cost me for my own new bike Saturday lol
Hahaha
@@highlandcycles Really interested in the suspension. I have a '19 XCW 300 and have added an XP-One kit to it which helped but it still isn't where I want it. New chassis, AER forks and linkage might be more to my liking and style of riding. Alternatively I won't buy a new bike but will add WP 6500 inserts to the old bike. As a comparison I did have a '20 te250 and really liked the suspension on that bike, seemed more plush and responsive to small low speed hits and better at dealing with higher speeds as well.
😂4000$foryamaha
No amount of valving fixes those forks lol, cheap design is the problem and ktm gets away with it because what's another 1500 for inserts when your spending 13k on a dirtbike.
I don’t know. These ones are pretty good
@TantoPoint nah lol
Agree. Yes, the new one is really good so far
Dang! That bike sounds throaty! NOT like any tpi bike.
So much better
He'll be putting 10,000 more into it
Hahahah. Not in performance. Guards and stuff Yes. Lol
