Great to see Balloon Tram 710 back at Tramtown. An enormous amount of credit must go to Walk on the Wildside's Stephen Cheatley. On his channel Stephen highlighted the plight of this famous tram, and within a matter of hours helped Tramtown to raise the necessary funds to save 710. I know that everyone at Tramtown is exceptionally grateful. A massive well done Stephen!
Spent a very enjoyable morning going around the Heritage Tram Museum last September (2022), we had a very good tour guide who loved showing us around. At the time he told us about the Coronation Street Tram and how it was rotting away in Fleetwood. I was disappointed at the time that it couldn't be saved, so it's great news to see it being saved. Thank you. Not only did I see a lot of very interesting trams that morning, I was also witnessing the birth of a museum. I wish the Heritage Tram Museum every success. Xxx
Balloon tram 710 had taken some punishment from the elements it is good to see back at the depot, I have been in love with tram since I was little I would love to see tram town to become Musiem would be fantastic
It's great to see it back it has finally come back home excellent video Jane I been loving these last few videos Jane great work I can't wait for next video Jane keep up with the hard work up I hope you and your family and friends are well and safe
Hi Jane thank you for another great video as always I remember that episode of corrie well done tram Alan Bradley was a right git lol I'm so happy that that tram is going to be restored fantastic have a lovely evening xx
Very interesting to see how this tram was conveyed and unloaded onto the tracks. Amazing that the wheelbase had not rusted into a solid lump. Everything below floor level will probably be scrapped and replaced with one that has seen recent activity as is done with railway carriages when they have spent years as hen houses. The condition is not as bad as it could have been. I do not watch soap operas but I would have thought this tram would have been retained due to its televisual appearance and the way people appreciate vehicles that feature in dramas. I took my sons when they were young to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when the car was on exhibit in Bolton. We rode behind the locomotive that played the Titfield Thunderbolt at about the same time. This tram will be of great interest to people who enjoy the programme series. I hope the restoration goes well.
I have nothing against the new trams they are very comfortable and pleasant to ride on, its just lovely to see the old fleet being kept and restored (shame to let them get to this state first though) many of us can recall that particular episode back when Corrie was still worth watching. Good luck to all concerned with this huge project and it really will be a wonderful addition to come and visit in Blackpool when its finished.
Many thanks for another fantastic video, it would be lovely to see the restoration process if possible in any future videos. Thanks again. Best wishes 🇬🇧
It's heart braking to see 710 in that sate I've worked on Her a few times back in the early 2000s and coronation st fans would all ways be excited to ride on her
710 has been stored at Fleetwood for about 10 years; another five years would probably have finished it off completely. It's original number was 247 and it joined the Blackpool fleet in the 1930's. Its number was changed in 1968 owing to changes to the numbering system of the bus fleet.
@@visitfyldecoast WELL i can only try to be wishful thinking. As for the rest of the former tram depot getting a full refit & refurbish It won't take less than about 36 months hopefully sooner. I sadly never got to see it in it's former ( original condition) But, hopefully (my health ) i get to see it in it's new face lift in a few years. But, that or not may happen. I just take a day at a time now. 🤞 & see what happens in the future. 🤔😳
Why did Blackpool Transport allow these teams of historical value get in this state in first place is beyond me. They have been running the heritage services since the new trams where introduced so no excuse.
Well Blackpool Transport is a public service which is operated as a company wholly owned by the council. It has to cover its costs - otherwise the tax payers of Blackpool pick up the cost. They could have kept and stored all the old trams, but imagine what that would have cost, just for the land alone. It would also have come out of the local council tax - which wouldn't really have been fair, would it.
@@visitfyldecoast they already had the land as the Rigby road depot was the only depot they had before they built the new one so actually they have more land now as they have two tram sheds. In terms of cost it would have been a hell of a lot more cost effective to keep the trams of historical value and keep them in good condition then sell them off for them to left to rot then have to buy them back at extra cost and the cost of restoring them!
I absolutely DESPISE these new REPULSIVE bendy trams VERY bright inside A LOUD announcement ( TOO LOUD!!! 😟😠) for each stop & NO CLASS & most of all NO CHARACTER!!! ( of which they NEVER!!!! WILL have to them. The only good thing is you can use a mobility scooter or wheelchair on them. But, apart from that they are the MOST REPULSIVE!!! thing i have ever seen on the rails. I STILL 😍 CONTINUE to 😍 & ADMIRE , RESPECT & FULLY APPRECIATE these BEAUTIFUL OLD HERITAGE styled trams. The new ones will NEVER get anything but my disappointment & disgust from me. I am sorry sadden by the majority that was scrapped or simply left to rot & rust away. A very few few was bought by private buyers & converted to either a cafe or use on can holiday sites. But, the sadly majority was left to ruin. Only a very few have been saved NOT ENOUGH I SAY!!!! MORE NEED saving before what is left are gone forever.
So it was balloon tram 710 used in the Alan Bradley scene in Coronation Street all those years ago. I don't care if it was 700 701 702 703 704 706 707 708 709 711 712 713 715 716 717 718 719 720 721 722 723 724 726 or any of the single deckers. No chance of 705 as that was withdrawn after collision damage in 1980 with 706 that was rebuilt to open top. 714 and 725 were rebodied and became 761 and 762. 707 709 718 and 724 were rebodied in a modern style and became the Milennium trams.
Why was it scrapped in the first place ? and what of the other trams from Blackpool in that scrapyard they all need to be saved that is Blackpools heritage.

Ooh! The old cream & green livery. I remember that.
Even in that state, she's still a beauty.
This will be worth a visit, thanks for the video, and Rita is still looking glamerous.
Wow brought a tear to my eyes watching that, Jane. Thank u

Yes, we've really got the best of both worlds. The new ones are better for getting from a-b but the old trams are so iconic.
Many thanks for another fantastic video, it would be lovely to see the restoration process if possible in any future videos. Thanks again. Best wishes 🇬🇧
I’ll do my best x
Hopefully it can be saved 710 . Thanks 4 sharing jane

Well at least now she's saved for another day!
great filming ,well done
Towing not allowed on the Fleetwood to Blackpool tramline? 🤔

Have you got an update on the tram
I like your video ros🎉
i wonder where the driver is who drove it that day
That's a good question Richard
Don't worry we have the technology, we can rebuild him. Hopefully it will cost less than $6,000,000.
I like many would 😍 to see what this looks like in about 6 to 12 months time. Hopefully it might be fully restorered by then. 🤔MAYBE!!!!
You're hopeful! They aren't just restoring that - the whole place is being worked on

Fleetwood docks.

@heinzer69 yes it is Blackpool Ttansport fault for selling the tram in the first place !

Rita thud classic
Just out of respect...I think Rita should have made the effort

They were put in storage pending a use and a home for them being found.
