    A+ for Gorilla glue. Just apply it very thinly, a mist of water spray to activate it. After setting the surplus is really easy to remove with a blade.
    The original throttle grip was a pig to remove. There was a metal staple in it. Had to cut around it and then remove that sod. Tube was good to use afterwards.

    Thanks for sharing these tips! May I ask: When you use the OEM 3-way connector cable and cut off the black connector you can remove the fuse from the grip's harness since the connector is already fused? Since it is a 3-way connector I assume there is a lead which you don't have to use? Any tips where to tidy all the connectors up? Your video already helped me a lot!

      Correct. No point in having it double fused as that's only a headache... I just soldered my connector and heat shrink it after sorry I didn't make a video of the actual install and its setup. You can connect your wire and harness in home where you have nice work station and all that is left is simply connecting it to the bike harness. Again I highly recommend that you use the original gorilla glue. Be sure to add a good amount to under your grips but be sure to have your wipes ready and clean up the ends and make sure your throttle tube is not affected by glue or you'll have to take off the bar and clean that up before you go out at play. Safety first...
      Cheers and happy new year to you...

      @@itsadyerthing Hi Rob, I finally got them installed and tested on an afternoon ride. The Gorilla glue really seems to do a very solid job of keeping them on there. Like you said, just be careful with it, that stuff keeps creeping up from beneath the grips after a couple of minutes after putting it on. Put the connectors just below the upper triple clamp so it should not be in the way when turning the handlebars. Thanks again for the tips with the Gorilla glue and using the auxiliary connectors. Your how-tos should definitely be getting more views :) Happy riding!

      Did you cut any cables, or did you just pull them out of the Oxford connector? I’ve heard people doing both. Want to be sure before doing anything permanent. Thanks!

      @@JohannesDalenMC only thing I cut was the main power connection. I did that simply because I created my own connection through the auxiliary power harness on the right side of the bike. No need for the power to be double fused and longer than needed as the grips will stay on this bike for good. It really depends on where you're gonna get your power from. But as for the wire length between grips to control box, no that I left it the same and untouched.
      Thanks for reaching out... and appreciate the support! Have yourself a super 2021 ride season

    Which side of the bike, throttle side or clutch side, did you use to connect to the auxiliary power connector? I believe there are auxiliary power connectors on both sides... and I want to make sure to connect to the correct auxiliary plug... to make sure the Oxford heated grips get enough power. Also, by cutting the wiring on the Oxford grips, the fuse is removed from the system... because the fuse on the Oxford wiring is all the way at the end of the wiring... just a couple of inches from where the original Oxford wiring would attach to your battery. Any thoughts on that?

      Right side throttle side. You will see its a triple wire connector... you can always buy the Yamaha triple connector kit for the Yamaha heated grips and use that wiring and kit to rig with the Oxford ones if you're going that route. Would you have any questions please let me know...
      Cheers and thanks for your feedback

    Were you able to remove the original grip from the throttle tube or did you have to buy a new tube? Thanks

    • @itsadyerthing
      @itsadyerthing  4 года назад +1

      i took a blade screw driver slightly lifted up the rubber grip from the throttle tube then sprayed a few squirts of WD-40 into it, then with lots of ease i rotated the screwdriver around as it broke free the grip adhesive from the tube. easy slide out without any damage or trouble. did this both sides and then just make to properly wash out the tube and the grip for safe keeping, myself i simply took the throttle off it cables and off the handlebar all together this way I was able to easily manipulate it and wash it etc...
      Hope this helps.

    I don't know why anyone would run Oxfords with the controller from the 1980s. Koso makes a much better option.

    • @itsadyerthing
      @itsadyerthing  Год назад

      If you are referring to the Koso Apollo, I have seen many failures with them due to environmental effects, they don't seem to warm up vs the amount of draw and they do offer 120 and 130mm grip length but they are almost 40+ extra over Oxford.. yes Oxford has the box controller but you get to take advantage of full grip length.. if there is a electric failure on controller you simply replace controller with Koso. You have to get whole new set. But each to their own which is great that many companies offer many varieties for many people.
