Hands down the best review I have seen on this Laptop. This was on sale & Wanted to get one. I even included this review in my best black friday 2018 pc gaming deals :) This was so well done!!
after its 4 years lifespan it is close to the end of its lifespan, mine is overheating on even normal games after repasting and battery is close to dying, but during my time with this laptop I was thoroughly impressed from performance albeit after a lot of tweaking. Dell's inability to allow us to change fan speed or even undervolt was the most disappointing thing as it would have allowed the laptop to last longer. Great review tho
@@sanctuary2520 For this exact model I wouldn't recommend because this laptop had many faults compared to other laptops, you can go for newer laptops if you are willing to spend more. Also coz of how heavy the dell g5 is you might aswell get a desktop pc
@@sanctuary2520 Bought this laptop summer 2018. Had so many issues with this laptop already 2 years after i bought it. I would recommend spending more money on a laptop because the build quality of this laptop is terrible compared to a high-end laptop. The build quality matters a lot and you wont get a very good build quality in a mid to low end laptop. The right fan of this laptop had issues with loud drilling noise and insanely loud coil whine because this computer overheats for almost no reason. I changed the keyboard 5 times so far because the original keyboard had issues with the 2wsx key buttons stopping to work due to a common design flaw in this model. finding a good keyboard replacement is difficult because they are all low quality and wear down quickly. Disassembling this laptop is a nightmare so replacing the thermal paste or fans or keyboad especially takes forever. Opening and closing the lid over time can cause some breakage if you are not careful every time. The small battery gets bad really quick since if you game a lot you need that charger plugged in all the time. The computer freezes a lot, ive had issues with blue screen after just 3 years of usage due to overheating and electronic components not working properly which was a pain to fix. Save money for a high-end laptop instead. Im currently waiting for an MSI raider ge78hx and i will never go back to buying these low-mid end budget gaming laptops.
I genuinely don't understand why ANYONE would thumb this down. Did they click on the wrong link and got frustrated by their own stupidity so much so that they had to take it out on the thumbs down button?
Yeah still going well it seems! It would be good to know if people hit thumbs down because the video was crap or because they don't like the product, seems to be a bit of a mixture.
This is the most impressive review I've seen in a very long time. You touched on all the critial things and then some. 90% of reviews out there dont touch on temperatures, noise, undervolting, stress tests and so on. Great review thanks! I'm really considering this one for light gaming :)
6 months in with this laptop... very, very pleased! Didn't play too many games during this period as I hardly get any time... But ran AC:Odyssesy, Arkham Knignt, Hitman 2, Fifa 19 very, very well!
Is it quiet at idle and when browsing?. how does the temp and noise goes when u doing small things like browsing or with small softwares ? Can u go to a library with it? Is it noisy? idle temp on the review makes me worry 45-50°C at idle is a lot imo. Dell xps 15 with gtx 1050ti max-q is 35 at idle. Thx in advance
@@funkfunk8121 Bro, I remember posting somewhere on reddit about heating issues within the first month of purchasing this. Dell has released shit tonnes of bios patches since then and they seemed to have taken care of it!... It's not noisy at all and yes, you can take it to public libraries with you. I use software like R, Power BI most of the time and fan noise rarely caught my attention.
@@kashifhaque2085 Hey Thk you for the answer. i got a dell m4600 with 1go vram before and it was a perfect machine for cad and photoshop, fans kicked in only when rendering a scene. i'm doing cad most af the time and sometimes 3ds max, revit and multitasking a lot. i'm a little sound sensitive so i need a quiet machine. maybe this is too powerfull i'll try. i realized i needed more RAM for bigger scenes. idk if i need so much vram and if 32go shared Ram is enough for 3D software. Had an Asus Rog gl703gs but it's too noisy. Still looking. This dell seem to be a good compromise. thx again
@@kashifhaque2085 bruh I have read it in reddit that after the release of 16 series cards ..Nvidia slowed the 10 series cards..is that correct nd u r getting any frame drops?
Finally the review,I have been expecting the review for a long time.Btw your reviews are awesome and provide all the important things we should know about a laptop, keep up the good work.
Best laptop test what i ever seen, you test EVERYTHING what i want to know and after 4months you are the first youtuber who helped me decide, witch gamer laptop should i choose, but im gonna start watching your other test videos! But i still dont know what 1% low mean :(
Thanks! I try to include everything I would want to know if I was going to spend my own money on the laptop. As for 1% low, it's a way of measuring the dips in performance, this video explains it: ruclips.net/video/l6WgbfG_z-k/видео.html
Dragoooon I’m pretty late, but it is because Dell is a lot more trust worthy. You have to realize that post purchase customer service is just as important as pre purchase. Lenovo and HP don’t have the best track record for customer service imo.
Thank you so much for this review. I recently got mine and it's honestly such an upgrade from my old Acer aspire v5 from 2012. To everyone else I'm super happy with the price to performance and excellent build quality and would recommend it.
@@deadly1246 lmao the stock screen ain't bad at all. Recently was playing vr on it and yanked my laptop off my bed and fucked the screen real good. Got a replacement that wasn't the stock screen (120hz panel, like an Asus branded panel with better color accuracy) and can say the difference wouldn't bother anyone going for a budget laptop. If it's really a concern, my new screen was only 100$ on ebay
I bought a dell g5 1060 maxq version after this review. 6 years later my laps lifespan is coming to an end. Waiting for the 50 series laptops and your reviews to pick a new laptop.
An awesome review, professional and interesting, very scientific presentation of the tests. Kudos! I betrayed an Acer predator 17 with pretty similar specs for this due to better guarantee and servicing. My heart said Acer but my mind called Dell. I hope I made the correct choice since this has to last 10yrs plus for me.
@@borazan debatable. Depends how careful they are, how much stressful intensive gaming. Some people try to run stuff that's too high for the gpu and ruin their laptops faster. Some people never invest in a good quality cooling pad or fan heat extractor fan attachment, etc. Some people don't clean their laptop every so often and drop it. Some don't. If they're using it in a balanced way, I'm sure it'll last a long time. The tech we have now compared to what we had 10 years ago is substantially better and more efficient.
@@borazan it could easily last 10+ years taken care of. If a hard drive can , the highest failure rate device in a cpu, can last 10 years. so can the rest. They are all a little different hence silicon lottery as well. sorry if you had a bad dell in past
Thanks for the review, Jarrod! Your videos helped me with my decision to buy the G5 (I7-8750h, 1060 max-Q, 16GB RAM, 512 NVMe). I've been using it for about a month now - after undervolting (-160 mV stable) and repasting, it works like a charm. The thermal values were excellent even during this hot month, and I don't experience throttling in games at all. As summer is ending soon, ambient temperatures will become cooler so I'd assume the results will be even better. :)
Appreciate the review! I need to get a replacement for my Dell 7559, and I think I will be looking into getting the Dell G5. This review helps me make that decision.
Great video bro! I´ve alredy said this previously but i really like to see the different cooling desgins of each laptop and it really good to see how upgradable they are.
Kudos on actually reviewing the changes an undervolt can bring out, most of the budget laptops with this processor WILL NOT reach their full clocks and sustain them for long periods without some user tweaking sadly. I always recommend undervolting ANY new laptop whether or not you're thermal/power throttling, it's isn't anything but good for your laptop.
@@JarrodsTech I just have one question. So I'm not as technologically Adept is my friends are and there are some terms used in this video that I didn't understand. Do you have a video on all this terminology you were using?

About to buy the Acer Predator Helios 300 and then I find this and immediately change my mind to buying this. It has everything I need for school, gaming, and all round use. Great review btw
Cheers! Hoping to get the Helios 300 in the future, I've been asking Acer about it for months but they don't seem to have any review units available still unfortunately. Hope you like the G5!
Thanks! A few people have asked for it so I've put it on the list of videos to make, the list is about 20 long though so might be a while before I get to it, so many things to make haha 😅
This is a year update from my last comment on this video and though I still won’t recommend this laptop. There are many better options that I would consider. Anyways I’ll start off with my pros of the G5, to start out I’m still loving the metal chassis, the blinking light at the front is very useful for diagnosing issues and repairability and upgrade ability is pretty good. But with pros there are always cons, and for this machine there are quite a few. I’ll start with the ram issue I had. When I first got the laptop it came with 8 gb of ram this was barely enough to run windows as soon as I opened a google tab or 2 the machine would run EXTREMELY slowly until it eventually crashed. This problem was easily fixed with a 32 gigabit ram kit it was also very easy to replace and add old ram. Second problem I had was bad internal build quality after a bit of transport the the battery was disconnected from the motherboard this was due to a weak piece of tape holding them together. This problem took a little while to diagnose but the blinking light on the front helped tremendously. Lastly there is low storage, overheating may be an issue, and there are random fan sputters. Also a new problem that’s just started showing is the plastic bezels around the display are beginning to weaken and become loose. I would not say this laptop is coming to its end after 5 years of use I fixed most issues I had mentioned in my previous comment but I would give this laptop on overall rating of 3/5.

Hi .. i just got my dell g5 gtx 1060 Max-Q version but i cannot get to open the Nvidia control panel .. nothing happens when i click on it ... Please help
Was surprised to see you say 'no jagged edges', the corners near the bottom of the wrist rests are sharp and pointy, and i had to sand mine down since they were literally stabbing my wrists sometimes. The rest is relatively spot on, it's a fantastic unit, and i got the backlight version which helps enormousely, but i really would have appreciated a better quality, or at least a 75hz display on it. Either way, thank you for the channel. I love how easy it is to compare laptops between your videos since they keep the same structure, and generally the tests stay roughly the same. This was the single resource i used to compare thermal performance and generall compare laptops when i was looking at a laptop for work/gaming. Settled on the G5 since i found a fantastic deal at 700 or so euros, brand new, exactly this model and there really wasn't anything in the price range that came even close to it in performance.
@@JarrodsTech imgur.com/GRfM1dW A G5 5587. It's possible that i just hold my hands slightly more out to the side but it was significant enough for the sandpaper to come out. :P Doesn't help that it's high enough as well to stick out.
Could you check the asus rog gu501gm ? I’m curious of the differences of that against the zephyrus m and zephyrus. Ps. Dell should add a 120 hz screen option to the g series
I'll find out if it's available, I currently have the GM501 from them at the moment. More customization would be great, although I think with the G series 1050/1050Ti/1060 Max-Q the 120Hz screen would only be good for less demanding games like CSGO/Overwatch/Rainbow six etc.
Perhaps, but I still like having higher refresh rate displays. Everyday tasks are still smoother, and I personally had a 1050ti with my 144 hz screen and my games went from th e110 - 160 fps, so I think the 1060 with 120 hz would be pretty good
pablo rdz don't buy Asus they have bad cooling I have the Asus g752vs, ive repaste it, replaced the heatsink and still reaches 100c on CPU and 90c gpu while playing csgo and rocket league withen minutes
Super awesome review. I just ordered a red g5, 16gigs of ram, 1060 max q, i5 8300H and 256gb ssd for $880 at walmart, in my country it costs almost $2000.
What laptop would you recommend for rainbow six siege, cs go and fortnite if I’m looking to get a solid 144 FPS. I don’t care about the screen, I’ll be using an external monitor? The top of the line G5 is one I’m looking at also. My budget is $1000-1800 USD. Love the videos, keep it up, looking forward to a compilation of the 8th Gen laptops in a review.
SoapOnARope42 The 1060 maxq wont be able to push any of them maybe except CSGO at high settings at 144 fps. You could get this laptop and buy a eGPU and maybe find a cheap 1070 or 1080 to help get more frames
Mercedes AMG Project One Thanks for the advice, I’ll be playing on competitive settings, so for the most part med-low but I am planning on getting an eGPU to boost performance in the future.
SoapOnARope42 If you can get spend a bit more I would look into the Asus Zephyrus M with a 1070 and or the MSI GS65. Both have 144hz screens and should easily push CSGO at 144 fps. Cheers 😃
In case you got g5 with i5 8300h...i just did undervolting only by 0.080V step and voila -10 degrees during stress test...so yeah..cooling system is not ideal..but can be "fixed" in 5 minutes... ;) edit -0.100V 80 degrees is an absolute maximum during stress test... ;)
It seems to have a slightly different design, but the main thing seems to be it's also available with the i9 CPU, if I'm able to get the G7 I'll do a dedicated comparison video between the two 😃
@@ahmedalyassjeen9838 There isn't anything that is annoying in my opinion I am starting to figure out that the storage goes fast but I have a lot of games.
Jarrod'sTech i chose the g3 because it's the only one from g series that is offered with 17inch screen, wich in my opinion is far better than having 15inch :)
I don't know if it's worth it to be honest (I still have a lot of other comparisons to do, but they all get pushed back as I get sent new laptops as I have to prioritize those as I only have them for a couple weeks and need to get them sent back). It's essentially the exact same machine just with an 8th gen CPU, and as my benchmarks from the 7577 are about 10 months old I'm not sure how fair it would be to directly compare them with the G5, would that still be useful?
I wish all the laptop videos were as detailed and informative as this one.. Great work my dear...I am interested in a laptop really good at multimedia stuff and definetely a really nice sound card.. What would you recommend?
Thank you for the review! Was really helpful. Definitely leaning towards buying a Dell Inspiron or G5/G7, depending on what back-to-school sales have to offer. I'm shopping around due to a hinge break on my 5yr old Toshiba (would be a $200+ fix) (also found out they don't make laptops anymore lol). I'm the type of user that sticks with a laptop until it's completely out of commission, so I was concerned about the longevity of these screens because of the screen/base gap and the single hinge. But it really doesn't seem that bad since it has such a solid base. My Toshiba is a flimsy plastic overall and I always felt like I had to handle it like glass...probably why it lasted so long. xD
No problem, great to hear! Ouch sounds like an expensive fix! I hope you enjoy the G5 or G7, I'm hoping to get the G7 in a few weeks to do a comparison with the G5 as they seem very similar, from what I can tell just some subtle design differences, and that the G7 is available with the i9 CPU.
1:07 When you say that it's a matte black aluminium, do you just mean the look of the color, or the actual material? Does the laptop have aluminium or is it plastic that looks/feels like aluminium? Great review still though, thanks!
Cheers! I meant that it was actual metal, or at least some sort of aluminium alloy, definitely on the lid, the interior was harder to tell and felt a bit closer like plastic but after looking into it it was apparently metal too.
Hello Jarrod, Thank you very much for this stunningly and amazingly detailed review you have encouraged me to buy a dell g5 :D It's working perfect the thermals are really good but there is a very annoying problem that I have encountered and couldn't solve, the bit depth is 6 bit which is making the colors really weird. hope you had encountered this issue and solved it, you deserve the best
No problem! I haven't actually noticed that with any machine I've tested, I'm guessing graphics drivers are fully up to date? Might be worth trying a fresh reinstall just in case.
Just bought a refurbished model with the same specs. Its working pretty good; while playing a heavily modded fallout 4 it reaches around 73-80°c. Which cooling pad do you recommend to expand its lifespan?
I myself am looking at for a cooling pad. I have the exact same laptop except I have the i5-8300h model. Although this is a 15 inch laptop, i found that "up to 17" laptop cooling pads weren't big enough when I was looking for some at bestbuy. I think 80 degrees celcius isn't bad. A cooling pad is definitely good, but I found that when I used throttle stop to undervolt the CPU to -125 mv and set the turbo boost limit to 3.5 ghz (instead of the default 3.9), as well as using the Dell power manager app to set the thermal management profile to ultra performance, that CPU temperatures while playing gta 5 at max settings dropped from 80 Celsius with spikes above 90 celcius to 60-70 celcius with spikes at 80. Hopefully this helps you, I did a lot of research and this is the solution that worked for me. For the Dell power manager to work you have to install the latest bios version and make sure the app is up to date, and for throttlestop you may have to install some files from the Microsoft website. If it says you're missing a file when you launch it, just Google the exact issue and you should find the solution rather quickly.
Good to hear! Most cooling pads are pretty similar so shouldn't matter too much, however I am in the middle of doing a cooling pad comparison video so we'll know more soon.
Jarrod'sTech I also found this amazing laptop, which is HP newest OMEN. Now this is a good steal for the money and looks much better than even the G7 for the price. Tell me what you think of it. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DRP6D2R/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=bobofalltrades-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07DRP6D2R&linkId=7496c7e111e138ef53c937178f713e19 Also, HP is having a sale on the base model of the newest OMEN on there website. They have listed originally for $1500 but it’s going for $1200 now with a coupon code and a regular sale. So all together it’s $300 OFF which is amazing and it has a 144 hertz screen and gsync, which for this price, and performance, not many laptops can compete. So I might being getting this for sure. It does have bigger bezels than the other slim bezel OMEN but this still is amazing and would much rather prefer the screen technology than if it had slim bezels or not. Maybe do a review on it in the future on some of these laptops as well, that would be awesome. Glad I saw your channel, as it really helps me so I can decide on these things. Very expensive, but I know now what’s the best and that’s HP’s OMEN.
I really want to test out some of the HP Omen stuff, unfortunately I haven't been able to get in contact with anyone there regarding review units yet, but I'll keep trying!
I need help please, it seems that I can't play any of the games you mentioned on 1060 graphics card all games run on the integrated card and i've the same version of yours. can you please advise??
Have you got the latest Nvidia drivers installed? It should automatically swap over, but you can try going into the Nvidia control panel and manually specifying what should use the Nvidia graphics. You could also try disabling the Intel graphics in device manager as a last resort, but keep in mind doing so will mean Nvidia graphics will be in use for everything which uses the battery faster.
@@JarrodsTech i've tried all of this playing origins and nothing seems to work, i just cannot use the gtx 1060 even when i am setting the nvidia panel to use the high performance nvidia processor and disabling the integrated graphics card.
Thanks! At the moment I'm still waiting to hear what MSI has available for me, they needed all their demo units for Computex I believe, but now that that's over hopefully they should have them back in Australia soon 😃 trying to get the new 8th gen GE63 first though as I've had a lot of requests for that one.
very prof review. so analytical and it seems that you enjoy the presentation. There is only one thing to specify. if you remove the back cover you will be out of warranty?
To be honest I'm not sure, I didn't see any stickers covering the panel so I doubt they would know if you've removed it, you could always check with Dell though to get confirmation.
An update about the warranty. I contacted with dell customer support in Greece the ram and the hard disks (HDD -ssd) could be updated without being out of warranty.
What's your take on noise emmissions? Would the G5 with GTX 1050Ti graphics card make less noise, and even a straight 1050 version make even less? Can one say so about graphic card noise levels?
I have found less powerful hardware to result in less noise, but I've also found the Dell G series to be quieter compared to most other "gaming" laptops anyway
Nice review, thank you. What is the "most quiet" GTX 1060 laptop in your opinion? I would prefer a more chunky chassis with good cooling over the current slim-slimmer-slimmest models that sound like a jetplane under load.
Does Max-Q 1060 count? If so this is probably on the quieter side, otherwise nothing in particular comes to mind, I'd need to refer to the sound tests I've done of other 1060 laptops.
Hey man! Loved the vid, I'm torn between the G5 and the ASUS FX504GM. The only difference is I'd be able to upgrade the RAM on the Dell to 12gb compared to the ASUS's 8. The ASUS has a 120hz screen compared to the G5's 60hz. The ASUS also has the larger SSD. Which is better? The G5 with the better RAM or the ASUS with the better screen and SSD. Other than that the specs are the same for the models I'm buying. Thoughts?
Thanks! I guess when you put it like that I'd probably get the better screen, disk/ram can be upgraded later if required much more easily. Personally I find it difficult to recommend the fx504 due to power limit throttling and stuttering in some games, I talk about the issue in depth in my review video, but not sure if this problem has been addressed in newer updates.
I've bought the laptop and had the asus for a few months and had one issue with the frame rate stuttering. But it's a rare occurrence and honestly, for the price I got it, entirely worth it.
Hello. I am deciding on a laptop for school and gaming and I became interested in the Dell Series. The dell G7 seems a little better in terms of build quality and keyboard but both have similar specs. I see the g5 with the same specs as the g7 going on sale on Dell's website for about 100 less. Would you go for a g5 or g7 or would you go for something else?
Either are pretty good, I haven't personally used the G7, but yeah seems to be just slightly different and available with the same or higher specs so just depends how much power you need really. Hoping to get the G7 in the future so I can compare it with the G5 in a future video 😃
Hey just wanted to let you know that I had confirmation that the G7 should hopefully be getting sent out to me tomorrow, so video in a few weeks after testing!
Yeah! Some people have said their G5 had it, so I guess it varies by region? The Dell website seems to indicate it's optional, but I couldn't see the option.
Just bought this yesterday, liking it so far. I play most games on medium settings as I do not want to put too much pressure on the laptop. A bit concerned about how hot it gets though. After about 3 hours of playing the back part of the laptop was very hot (near the fans) and near the power button. When I turned it off, after about 10 mins the laptop was almost completely cool. Considering how hot it gets do you think the fans are enough or should I get a cooling stand. I just don’t want to push it to its limits as I want it to last a while. Thanks in advance
The back is where the CPU/GPU are, that's normal and fine given you won't be resting your hands there anyway. I don't think you can boost the fans on this model, but the new one coming out next month should support that. Either way, I wouldn't be worried about "pushing it to the limits", if it gets too hot it will just throttle the performance back, use the machine to do what you want and have fun, no need to hold back.
Jarrod'sTech ahh fair enough I see what you mean, it’s just I’m only just getting used to good quality graphics. I was surprised the recommended setting for FC5 was on high. But yeah I will just go with the flow. Thanks for your clarification man and great vid once again
Jarrod'sTech sorry one other thing. I just tried running gta 5 on this system and it said I don’t meet the cpu requirements. My cpu is i5 8th gen. It is barely running on 30 FPS. Is my cpu the problem or graphics card?
8300H should be plenty fine, what graphics do you have? Are you playing on battery power or while plugged into the wall? On battery Nvidia battery boost will by default cap FPS to 30.
I've been deciding whether to get a gaming laptop for a bit, and this video has definitely help me consider the Dell G5. However, I'm worried the fan noise is too loud for me, and will get on my nerves. I don't play particularly demanding games (will mainly be playing CSGO and Rainbow Six) so I was wandering whether the fan noise reduces depending on how demanding the game is. And, if so, by how much? Thanks for another great laptop review
The noise will typically very based on how hot it gets, so if you limit frame rates in games for example that should use less resources and in theory run cooler and quieter. That said the G5 was noticeably quieter compared to other similarly specced gaming laptops that I've tested, and with some closed back headphones I wouldn't be able to hear fan noise at all
Hey Jarrod. Great review! Crazy question: why are most computer reviewers either European or Indian? I once reported a video with an American review. I labeled it "inaccurate/ not real" :)
Winter is coming! Nope its here june now and it a lovely 12c' outside. Overall build quality was very disapointing with the dell g i belive the 7 series did a better job on quality. Dell 8678? Would be cool if dell gave the next dell 7567 that name. Great review as always in depth, you didn't disapoint!!!
Just received my laptop, bought it after watching your review. Surprisingly my model does have the keyboard backlit so it gives off a nice red light. Also what program is best to use to monitor cpu and gpu performance and temp etc. Also is it better to save games to the smaller ssd or would 1tb be fast enough
Nice to hear, and good about the keyboard too! I use HWInfo to monitor temperatures and performance. Generally I use a bigger 1TB for games just because so many games are so big these days, doesn't affect performance in terms of FPS, just means slower loading times though.
Hey Jarrod, great review! Do you know how to colour calibrate displays? If you do, it would be awesome if you could and share the ICC file with the display model number, since you have the Spyder software!
Thank you for such an informative review. I am really considering buying this laptop. However, the one I have found matches all the specs of the one you have reviewed except that it has Bluetooth 4.2 instead of 5.0. Does this really make a huge difference? Also, is there a difference between NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with NVIDIA Max Q Design technology, 6GB? Many thanks for your help.
Probably not really unless you need the improvements of the newer Bluetooth version. For the most part 5 just has speed and range improvements, and uses less power which may be a benefit in a laptop if you use it a lot (not sure how practical this is in terms of actual battery life differences though). Yeah there is about 10% difference between the 1060 and 1060 Max-Q, I've done a dedicated video to the topic here with detailed benchmarks: ruclips.net/video/gT3_-6Rtfoo/видео.html

I had the G3 3579 which also had battery issue, couldn't last more than 20min after unplugged, changed battery, wifi and ram to make it last longer
Just replace the battery and apply thermal paste your laptop will become new like first day
Man you even gave us a look at the heating with that temperature camera. Wish i could give you more thumbs up!! Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
I genuinely don't understand why ANYONE would thumb this down. Did they click on the wrong link and got frustrated by their own stupidity so much so that they had to take it out on the thumbs down button?
Haha, not sure!
I don't understand it, but virtually any video on youtube of solid quality gets 1% thumbs down at minimum. The ratio here is outstanding, actually.

Cheers! I'm hoping to get the new 2019 version in a few weeks too 😃
6 months in with this laptop... very, very pleased! Didn't play too many games during this period as I hardly get any time... But ran AC:Odyssesy, Arkham Knignt, Hitman 2, Fifa 19 very, very well!
That's great to hear! Thanks for sharing your feedback too, it's good to hear from other users, helps out the community as a whole 👍
Why? Hp was rated #1 brand for overall performance.. Dell was #3

It won't last 10 years+
@@borazan debatable.
@@bebopganymede It won't last 10+years. Cooling pads don't matter. Older tech was better due to lack of planned obsolescence
No problem! Good to hear that the G5 is going well 😁
Appreciate the review! I need to get a replacement for my Dell 7559, and I think I will be looking into getting the Dell G5. This review helps me make that decision.

Great video bro! I´ve alredy said this previously but i really like to see the different cooling desgins of each laptop and it really good to see how upgradable they are.
Thanks! Yeah I like testing them all out to see what they can do and how they differ 😁
Dell really made it easy to upgrade. My last MSI was a nightmare with tons of screws to remove and flimsy plastic you could easily break or bend.
No problem! Yeah definitely some performance to be gained in most cases with some simple changes, especially with the 6 core 8th gen parts.

I'm really on a budget and need something to satisfy both my college needs and my gaming needs. I guess I'm settling on this...
It's a pretty nice laptop overall, at least in terms of the specs for the price!
Acer Nitro 5 is a better budget option if you are looking to save 100 bucks or more.

@@JarrodsTech Thank you very much my dear

Cool, thanks for responding! Do you know if this is just for the high end model that you reviewed, or is this the case with all versions?
It was the case with the G5 and G7, not sure on the G3 as I haven't had it yet for testing, hopefully I'll get it in the future though.
Hello Jarrod,
Thank you very much for this stunningly and amazingly detailed review you have encouraged me to buy a dell g5 :D
It's working perfect the thermals are really good but there is a very annoying problem that I have encountered and couldn't solve, the bit depth is 6 bit which is making the colors really weird.
hope you had encountered this issue and solved it, you deserve the best
Good review. I’m planning on getting the G7
Thanks! I'm hoping to get one in the future, I also want to compare it with the G5.
Jarrod'sTech I also found this amazing laptop, which is HP newest OMEN. Now this is a good steal for the money and looks much better than even the G7 for the price. Also, HP is having a sale on the base model of the newest OMEN on there website.
Jarrod'sTech Hopefully you do man. But yeah, they are looking sweet
I see now that i have no intel graphics card, and the other card is microsoft basic display
What should i do?
Are you going to be reviewing the msi gt62vr in the future? Great video btw keep up the good quality!
To be honest I'm not sure, I didn't see any stickers covering the panel so I doubt they would know if you've removed it, you could always check with Dell though to get confirmation.
thnx alot for the prompt responce!!! keep going with your videos.
Very helpful. Thanks a lot
No problem!
I've heard the jolting can be fixed by undervolting. If I come across that issue I'll be sure to try it!
I've bought the laptop and had the asus for a few months and had one issue with the frame rate stuttering. But it's a rare occurrence and honestly, for the price I got it, entirely worth it.
Thanks, nice review. Seems just about to be able to cope with Ultra in games. Do you have a 3D mark score?
Thanks! I cant wait for the video
3:14 keyoard backlight shoud be a standard for this prize in the gaming laptop ;/
Yeah! Some people have said their G5 had it, so I guess it varies by region? The Dell website seems to indicate it's optional, but I couldn't see the option.
I was going to buy a helios 300 but for some reason it couldn't ship to my country
I'm ordering the G5 now
Wish me good luck with it
Good luck! Let us know how you find it 👍
You just got a new subscriber :)
Welcome!
@@Mr1Poison1 No problem at all, thanks, enjoy the laptop!
Great Review man. Thanks.
No problem, cheers!
That said the G5 was noticeably quieter compared to other similarly specced gaming laptops that I've tested, and with some closed back headphones I wouldn't be able to hear fan noise at all
Jarrod'sTech Great! Thanks for the quick response. Keep making great videos :)
Hey Jarrod. Great review! Crazy question: why are most computer reviewers either European or Indian? I once reported a video with an American review. I labeled it "inaccurate/ not real" :)
@2:51.
Is there any problem?...
I mean, will this be as durable as normal ones?
I don't think so, it was quite thick, unless you're going out of your way to bend the screen it would be fine for normal every day use.
This review covered everything I need. Thank you!
No problem!
Haha 7c here at the moment 😭 thanks!
Amazing review,
Thanks!
Is it possible to change the red to a different color? Not a deal breaker but I'm not a fan of the "gamer" black-and-red aesthetic
pretty good laptop, nice review :)
Cheers!
First off, great video! Do you know whether the 4K panel option offers better colour accuracy? (ie. For content creation).
Thanks! I'm not actually sure about that, I suspect it's the case but I haven't actually had it for testing and can't see information about it.
Good review, thanks. Any idea how many nits is the display?
Cheers, unfortunately not certain, back when I made this I wasn't measuring brightness, added it to the testing shortly after though.
Hey Jarrod, great review!
Do you know how to colour calibrate displays? If you do, it would be awesome if you could and share the ICC file with the display model number, since you have the Spyder software!
Thanks! Hmm yeah I could look at providing those, might give some people some value, I'll look into doing it!
Can you do it for the G7?
Excellent video!
Cheers mate 😃
