I got over the ear noise cancelling headphones last year and they're my new favorite thing. Can't stand the feeling of ear plugs, but these headphones are so good for helping me regulate

My fleece hoodie. Like the softest hug that knows some boundaries (since a hood isn’t snug 😊).

I had the best grocery shopping trip yesterday that I’ve had in a long time. I wore headphones with System of a Down blasting on them, comfortable clothes, and fidgeted with a tangle the whole time. I could actually think and almost enjoy myself :D

yup. I wear baseball caps all the time. gives an extra sense of calm. both due to tightness on head, but also it restricts field of vision a little, so I don't get as overwhelmed by surroundings, and it shields from light (both the sun outside and overhead lighting indoors).

i like that baseball caps are adjustable when you need them to hug a bit tighter

I will wear sunglasses outside during the day even if it is not very sunny. I will wear them until it is too dark to do so. It gives me comfort. Plus my eyes are extremely sensitive to the sun and bright light.

Makes sense! I go for soft clothes, gentle light, and my big heavy blanket. Even in the summer.

I like this idea! ❤ It's also a nice way of being able to regulate without people necessarily knowing what's going on. On a side note, you might be interested to know that the correct term is neurodivergent, as neurodiverse/neurodiversity refers to the neurological diversity of all people - neurodivergent and neurotypical.

At work, on the bus, anywhere, really, I can wear loops earplugs and or noise canceling headphones and I have tinted glasses that tone down fluorescent lights.

We're a blanket family. Not weighted ones, just big microfleece ones. I usually kep 2 on the couch. When my son is overwhelmed, he'll cover himself in one. Even in the summer I like have ine on my lap.

At home, I like wearing a soft blanket or smooth scarf wrapped around my head like a hood of sorts. Narrows the field of vision and offers light pressure so I feel safe.

Low lighting levels is always a good choice for me whether it's a good day or (esp) if it's a bad day. Stuffies also good but I so often forget about them as I've only had access in the last few yrs.

I have skin picking sisorder and have issues with stress through the day and I like to have this one pillow with a string. I had something like that as a kid but it was just a case for a pillow. I touched my lips with one corner. I do it to this day. It calms me down and I feel comfort in if even tho i was ment to unlearn it

I have a weighted blanket, but when I venture out into the world, I find my crochet items comforting. I recently started crocheting socks. I have a love/hate relationship with socks, but socks without seams are nice.

Yep, a hoodie. I can't stand the feeling of artificial air hitting me (any fan or a/c) so a hoodie with the hood up really helps.

Ah, yes, to the hat! I have a newsboy style black cap when I feel like hiding from the world. I have always been a hat person but it is only in recent years I have come to recognize why I have so many days I must have it. I also love long enough sleeves to hide my hands in or big pockets. ( I store a small stim or two in the latter, such as tissues to quietly rip when I am in an uncomfortable situation.)

I love your hat :) I have a couple of little white woollen caps that look like bonnets and I wear them most of the time. We did start to talk on Mike's channel and everyone said how they hated wool and it became a big thing and I kind of shut down , because there was too much attention,so I am sorry about that. Anyway love your hat. It's a great colour.

I love a hoodie.. but I don’t like things on my head.. unless it’s very cold or windy. So my sensory issue is hats, turtlenecks.. anything too tight. But, I love your hat.. and I like hats.. I have a bunch I never wear but I try.. because they are cute. 😂

    yeah! a took is great!
during the summer I like a black sunhat- it blocks the sunlight- but also florescent overhead lights indoors.
i love my Loops and headphones.
and my glasses tint or are the ray bans pilot's lenses that can help with bright light indoors as well.
i keep m9 masks on me now- because they can protect me from strong odors, like people's perfume or musk.
and I like a wrap or hoodie around the shoulders for anxiety

I have a weird one. I hate pulling on socks. I cannot sleep in socks. But if I add shoes and spend some time walking about when I return home I take my shoes off but often forget to remove my socks. I think it may be initially I feel the contact and pressure which is like feet strangulation. But maybe they become like weighted blankets for my feet. Neither is extreme on the sensory scale but I do find thr change weird. Not sure if "sameness" is more important and trumps slight discomfort

  • @JonBrase
    @JonBrase Месяц назад

Living in Texas and with heat-without-water being one of my few sensory sensitivities, "fleece hat in July" is definitely not on my comfort items list. (COVID-times were not fun with masks trapping my breath heat on my face).
For whatever reason, I'm fine with a hot bath or shower, and cold-and-wet is also a sensitivity for me. I think a hot tub in 40 degree weather is about my ideal environment, and 105 degree weather with 40 degree water is what my body thinks hell is.
