Having the gates be EXACTLY half as long as the road and then installing a mechanism on the ends to lock them together is one of the most GENIUS things I’ve ever seen! I’ve also never seen a hydraulic lift bridge before, so that’s pretty neat as well!
😮1:55 Good Grief and Holy Cow!! Why wasn't I invited to that party boat?!?😮 😁 I would've bought them some Milwaukee Beer in an ice-filled cooler if they asked me to do so!😁
Great video, technically this is not a drawbridge in the true sense it is a vertical lift bridge. A drawbridge lifts up at a hinged angle like on a castle or Tower Bridge in London (Bascule Bridge).
Nice that's one way to let a boat with a tall roof go through without damage then the bridge goes back into place so vehicles and people can go about there day.
anytime a boat with a tall mast wants to pass. I live in Milwaukee and worked in the blue building (now called the Chase bank Plaza) Was called the Marine Bank Plaza in the 70's.

I just love seeing the gates and bells activate , whether its a train coming at a crossing or a drawbridge! Lights bells action
Same therefore I win
Everything there is like a level crossing
Area has improved since I was there ages ago. Looks like Wisconsin Av. I was raised there from ‘53 to ‘81….never to return
Cue the Thunderbirds intro: I was not expecting that! Interesting locking design of the barriers as well, never seen anything like it.

Is that white medieval round building the control tower?
😮😮😮I remember very smartly that this bridge operated on July 9, 2022 around 12:30 p.m. when I was driving by the intersection on Water Street

It's a table bridge, similar to a vertical lift bridge.
