Two great cars. Ive just bought an E92 M3 but gave serious consideration to the C63. I think noise wise the C63 is better at low to medium revs but the way the M3 sings at high revs is epic. Went for the M3 as I think the handling is s bit more exploitable and better balanced but I get the appeal of the C63. I did consider an Audi RS4 or RS5 as love tbe styling and also has a charosmatic high revvi g V8 but road tests indicate that all that weight up front mrans they are dynamically compromised with too much understeer. Without a doubt a golden age for sporty coupes.
My c63 replaced my Audi s5 quattro. It does have the performance pack and LSD, the handling is better than the Audi and despite no suspension adjustment it as a better ride than the Audi. I have had all sorts of cars from TVR's an RX7 an M5. The C63 is the most fun car I have ever had.
Top tip - get the Competition Pack EDC software flashed. The Comfort and Normal modes are the same - but the Sport setting becomes completely usable and SO much better. I know what you mean about the E92 pogo sticking around on the Sport EDC setting but this is gone with the CP EDC software.
The AMG fans and M fans, seriously need to stop the hate, and most people never drive the other one and start talking shit to another, for me they both good cars in an different way, specially the legendary W204 and E9X.
You gotta love the C63 especially Edition 507, it is one of the best cars AMG has ever made. Super car performance and everyday practicality. Last of the 6.2 litre V8 Future classic. Too bad they are so rare.
I have an m4 and it’s a baby. 20k miles. I want to get another car to share the miles/ more of a daily while the m4 becomes a weekend car since I plan to go pure turbos 800hp range. I’ve driven the c63 coupe and loved the way it drives. I’m definitely a torque guy but it idk why 60% of me wants to go M3. Noise is a huge factor in the choice
For me, I pick the M3 because of the rev range, the DCT behaves exactly like a paddle shift transmission should (gear changes on input, no delay) and it has better steering feel, but the AMG has more power, WAY more torque, is more reliable as a daily, and has a better growl. Somebody else in the comments already said it, but it's worth repeating. The C63 AMG V8 growls. The E9x M3 screams.
I have owned both c63 and m3..sold both both bought nissan gtr..sold that and went back to m3 e93...amazing car with the roof down hearing the v8 scream...yes c63 is more rare...however the m3 is a more involved car in the handling department....but the torque on the c63 is amazing...
@@captainjacksparrow1 hmmm comes down to how they been looked after...d have to say the c63 would be more long term reliable..just they get abit hot..sort the radiator out with a better one and upgrade the thermostat always helps..but yeah the c63 would be more reliable if looked after properly
I love everything about the C63, except the transmission. A C63 with a manual would be the best car ever made, but no, we just had to have some auto box.
I have had all sorts of cars, the C63 is one of a kind, puts a smile on my face every time I drive it! Highly recommend buying one, not to mention it appreciates every year!
Having owned both id pick the c63 way more reliable which is why I still own it my e92 m3 was a complete money pit throttle actuators followed by the rod bearing crapping themselves at 62k
When you replaced the rod bearings, did you replace with OEM or did you go aftermarket? I've never owned nor driven either, but from what I've researched, the aftermarket M3 rod bearings have better clearance, so the engine doesn't "eat" them.
These V8 engine are better suited to those who live outside of London’s congested roads with 20Mph speed limit, I struggle to get above 250 mpg per tank in my e86 coup. I have to head towards Hertfordshire to get a decent drive hence I’m not so keen on justifying ownership of a high performance car that will only benefit my local shell optimal garage. I will stay with six cylinders for a while....Nice content Ben.
Im BMW fan but I love every make . E92 M3 is available in convertible , C63 in estate . Because Im lorry driver I wish to have a more torque and bigger engine so for me Merc is better .
Cool vid. My friend replaced his e92 M3 with a C63 AMG from the insurance money. Both awesome cars. Is that Burton Dasset? I’ve got a Z4 coupe: Very tempted to get a back box delete after your latest vid. I cut off the back box on my 330Ci; it sounded amazing but ended up putting it back on as it droned too much and it was too loud even at low revs.
If all issues from both cars are remedied properly, I'll be using the C63 AMG to tow the M3 to and from the track. In my opinion, the AMG is the better street car, and the M3 is the better track car.
i like the c63 but i’ll have the one that can turn round corners and has a good gearbox, i also think the e92 is a more beautiful car despite the c63 fl being far newer
I want both. I wouldn't use the M3 as the daily though, simply because of the rod bearings issue. Clearance on those from factory was too tight. You can fix this with aftermarket rod bearings, but if you buy the M3, you should check the service history to see if the rod bearings were replaced at some point. If they weren't, it's like a ticking time bomb. Only a matter of time before they go out.
I can get a 2009 C63 with only 48,000 miles. Listed for 22, I got the guy down to $19,000 USD cash. Should I do it? I believe the previous owner did headbolts, but at that price and mileage, is it worth taking the gamble anyways? Try getting a 4 door M3 for that price lol
Only dissadvantage is the handling. The M3 is definately a lot better in terms of handling. The Merc is more of a straight line speed car while the M3 is more of a track car. I love both of these cars in different ways.
I prefer my E92 n54 over the E92 M3. I’ve raced a couple V8’s in my e92 V6 which kept up (and beaten some) with V8. Specially beaten it’s counterpart M3, which was a surprised by the fact the V6 can outperform its V8 motor. I miss my E92 just don’t miss my pockets hurting compared to my W204 as it’s been a much more enjoyable drive/ride with less things breaking on it. I own the M3 and its the more handling biased car. On a circuit it would be quicker but the c63 would be more accessible on a dry road. In the wet the Mercedes torque works against it and let's be honest its wet a lot in the UK. A Honda Civic type R would murder either of them on a B road.
