You make me want to go watch Pinkey Blinders!!!
I’m not joking someone else said that to me last week too 😂🤣😅😂😅😂 love it . Thank you
Rocker cover gasket is prime suspect, rubber goes hard and passes hot oil out, all 1.8Ts suffer around there
Yeah 😅 worse of all is .. I was the one that replaced it 2 years ago. I know your meant to use gasket maker in the corners or where the gasket changes direction and I say I didn’t use enough in one of the edges . Well I also hear mk4 20vt engines love to get the oil strainers clogged up with dirt and instant gasket maker so that’s why I used so little 😅🙈
@@stevenharpervw yes just a little in the right spots is all it takes, and not to over tighten the bolts, strainers more from the crusty bits of emulsified oil that dries, and then drops back in the pan, engines ran too cold back in the day
under the chain tensinoer is a common place
In a previous video I Replaced that gasket.so I have really hoping it wasn’t that . As far as I can figure out it was leaking between the cap that holders that gasket down and the flat 2cm long part. My guess was the gasket didn’t go 100% into the very corner and that Is where the leak was . But only time will tell if there is no more leak or not . If there was a big ass hole it would be super easy to find the tiny leaks are always the hard ones
@@stevenharpervw only way is to clean the engine and then top it up with oil and leave it run for 30mins or so and check
@@andrewgormley6851 yeah I cleaned it with break cleaner . And I’ve been driving it for the last week . So far no new oil . Oil lever on the dip stick seems to be holding ok . I’m guessing originally I didn’t use enough instance gasket maker on the edges but I also doesn’t want to over do it and have bits of gasket maker in the oil or clog the pick up tube .
Welcome to Audi ownership.
Vw and Audi.., making owners into mechanics since day one !
Take that turbo intake pipe off to get better access Steven!
Your right there is very poor access but I’m not sure removing the air intake pipe will help solve much. As I think even that is a task in itself . . Oh why are +22 year old cars “slightly” unreliable. ?!
