- When it comes to Rock Bouncers there is a bar that has been set when it comes to strength. We have seen Dana 80s and even some big Military Axles. This time on Busted Knuckle Builds our shop Busted Knuckle Off Road has built arguably the Worlds Strongest Rock Bouncer and it sets on cut 46 USD Stickies on custom double beadlocks and the first Chromoly 7 ton Meritor Housings. We needed the strongest axles because this is one of the most powerful rock bouncers ever built. It made more power on the Dyno than Gold Rush Rock Bouncer thanks to its Crank Drive Procharger bolted to the front of a built to the hilt 447 cubic inch Small Black Ford. That's right this Ford Procharged Rock Bouncer is a Beast with the attention to detail that you have come to expect from Jake Burkey and our crew. We wanted to call it the Goliath Rock Bouncer but the owner decided on Tantrum Rock Bouncer instead. This is my favorite Busted Knuckle Rock Bouncer Build yet. Which one is your favorite? @@colby1380 loses power while transferring energy through "Transmission, Clutchs/Torque Converter, Bearings, Driveshafts-Not so much but still does, Suspension Flex/Torquing when you hit it, Axles, Grease, MORE BEARINGS, AND FINALLY through the HUGE 46" TIRES! 1500+Horse is at the Crank shaft, After all the "Parasitic Loses" of each mechanical component, by the time it gets to the rubber and dynamometer rollers, can expect to lose at least 40%! Especially with 46" rubber son! They shaved off 50LBS of rubber off of EACH TIRE! TSL's aren't a light weight tire neither. Doing Matt and Jake a favor here by taking the time to explain this one to you. Hope you understand some of the physics of PARASITIC MECHANICAL LOSES. Don't go hating on a $250 000.00 Rig unless you can either build one yourself or pay some extremely talented gentlemen like these guys to build you one. Salute and enjoy watching the video. Cheers🍻

As a huge Ford man, this absolutely makes my heart skip a beat!! What a machine!! It's been great seeing Jake and Larry tearing it up this year with their Ford powered rigs, even giving the GOAT Tim Cameron a run for the money at times. What a great sport! AWESOME build!!

I don't know a lot about this sport personally so my father has owned and operated an automotive machine shop virtually my entire life and my father and I and our friend art worked on Larry ragland's trophy truck pit crew during ensenada Mexico Baja 500 and 1000 late 90's-early 2000's familiar with off-road racing but Rock buggies totally different animal... So after doing some research and being a huge fan I was completely shocked at the % level of parasitic loss through drivetrain transfer case planetaries exct has anyone ever tried a paddle shifted sequential manual gearbox to try to reduce drivetrain parasitic losses just curious proper question correct??
most of the loss is that these only have low range, then the heavy duty axles, driveshafts, and massive tires

It was show room condition when he came and got it to go get it dirty. The front tires throw rocks so fast that it has ate up the powder on the rear trailing arms already.

That rubber part that sucked in was on the outlet of the compressor on that Procharger. It shouldn't have done that. I also feel like that engine you built is WAAAY more capable than the 650s. I know this is wheel horsepower and all of that incredible drivetrain you guys built will take a shit ton, so at the crank it's definitely more than on that dyno. But I feel like you guys have something wrong. Those numbers would make sense if that was naturally aspirated. Is that what this session was for? I don't know why you would dyno and tune it without actually plumbing that Procharger to the intake. All I'm saying that even with how amazing this beast is, it has SO much more potential to be an unstoppable Tantrum.
That is the inlet for the procharger. Everything is plumbed. These vehicles only have low range so that skews the numbers as well as the heavy drivetrain and this one has planetary outers making for even more parasitic loss. It is making over 1500 at the crank easily.
That build is 100% awesome...

When it comes to engines built to this level it's almost irrelevant whether they were originally Ford or Chevy. After all how many of the parts are actually made by Ford or Chevy. Not many I'll bet. They're all going to be top quality after market race stuff.

Planetary Gears are the way to go, stub axles are the weakest link when you're heavy, high powered, solid traction, and the course requires an aggressive approach, and I've never seen a mild application of the pedal in any of these videos.

What happened to 1500hp from your claim in part 1?? I think I saw 695hp on the dyno? That's an 800hp loss in the drive train?
yep 50-60% is average loss in our builds. This one has planetaries so it is probably worse

Is the engine block a 302 base? There are 2 different deck heights in that family. Maybe you have a short deck block with tall deck heads?

It made every bit of it at the engine. Dyno numbers are skewed due to heavy drivetrain and running them in low range.

I'd say it is very close to 1500-1600hp if you were to put it on an engine dyno. Parasitic loss through the drivetrain on these things is insane. Big heavy axles turning big heavy tires.

How good is that Holley screen gonna hold up to dirty and muddy fingers while touching it....is it a pretty durable scratch resistant screen.... or do you have a screen protector on it?

First off the buggy is absolutely insane you guys did amazing 👏🏻👏🏻. Secondly seen some complaints about the music. Its not necessarily my style but i felt it went well with the filming/videography so i enjoyed it and thought it was good!

The tires are the most badazz and aggressive looking tires out there and for those who don’t know those tires come the way you see, yes he has done some cutting on them but mainly to lighten them up.

Great machine, but is this not a waste of energy and money for a "around farm buggy"!? This rigs are designed to be raced, showing the driver skills and performance engineering behind the build.

it has a skid plate under the engine and tube work out in front of it. I don't see how it could get hurt.

Just think, if you hub dynoed that thing I’d bet it would put out another 100hp if not more because those tires take a lot of hp to spin.
yeah we don't use the dyno to get big numbers but more to tune the engine to work it's best. That is why we run the bigger off road tires to get real world results.

Yes, the engine had a small leak on got some oil on the belt.
There are always some small bugs to work out on brand new builds when we first take them off road.

When he went to full throttle on the dyno all the jam nuts on his heim joints were spinning. Gonna be kinda hard to hold pinion angle with those loose. Just sayin.

both ends are right hand thread so that can't happen. Things come loose and get missed sometimes right out of the shop. rest assured it gets test and bolt checked before the customer gets its.

Amazing build but maybe someone can help explain to me the Horsepower numbers. I am assuming this setup is 1500hp at flywheel and by the time it gets to those tires it has lost all of it threw the drive train and doing dyno pulls on swampers?
Exactly. There is a ton of parasitic loss to the tire compared to the crank and it takes close to 200hp to turn the massive procharger.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo ya that makes complete since its just obviously on a larger scale with that size tire, procharger and everything else. The attention to detail is just absolutely incredible. We do quite a bit of custom fabrication here at my shop but on equipment and it really takes someone who has built quality builds to see it and appreciate it. We measure crank HP not wheel HP. These buggies have to dyno in low range so the gearing throws the number off

Do you ever do anything with smaller builds? Like crazy and unique utv's, atv's and stuff like that?
