I watched Alien for the first time ever this year and was blown away. It really holds up to the hype. I also just watched The Exorcist III and The Sect this weekend. I had heard good things about The Exorcist III and it was much better than I expected. I had heard bad things about The Sect but I found it to be a really layered and interesting Italian horror film. There's a messed up part where the main character is inseminated (I don't think consensually) by a large bird, so I wouldn't necessarily go around telling people they should watch it.
@@mandysmorgueofhorror Warning, there is some movie called The Sect on Tubi but it's not the right one. I'm talking about the one directed by Michelle Soavi.
My first time watches that stood out last year were two Paul Wendkos movies, Fear No Evil and The Mephisto Waltz. Both with Bradford Dillman, always a blast to watch him on screen !
I've never seen the 1997 Shining mini series. I want to watch it now. Kubrick's version is a fave. I remember seeing Death Becomes Her in theater in middle school. I've seen it a bunch of times. So good. ❤
I totally forgot about Some Guy Who Kills People ! I actually own that movie, it’s pretty great! I actually watched Final Destination for the first time yesterday. I thought it was pretty good. Cure has been on my list for a while. I need to watch that one. I watched Willow Creek not too long ago and I really enjoyed it. The couple, I thought was very likable so that really added to the suspense. Happy New Year 🎊! Can’t wait for a whole new year of content of books and movies from you 🎉❤
I have yearly lists on letterboxd where I track every new to me movie I've watched for the year regardless of its release year. I watched The Collingswood Story per your request, I believe & Red State neither of which came out this year & another good one was ATM & Terrified
Great video topic Amanda, both of the two best films I saw in 2024 were actually first time watches of old movies; Intruder (1989) a REALLY FUN slasher, that people don't give enough acclaim to, and End Of The Line (2007) a REMARKABLE occult horror, that I'm eager to do several videos on...
A lot of good stuff here!, Sole survivor is a such a gem, I also really enjoyed cure. I had never even heard of it before I watched. I have vamp and mute witness on bluray but still haven't gotten around to watching them, hope to change that soon.
Watched After Hours from 1985 for the first time. It’s fun if in the mood for a cookie comedy thriller that’s full of action. And Taxi Driver which I absolutely hated!
I love that you talk about older movies, and many of these sound really interesting.
Thanks, Mandy. I've never heard of Sole Survivor, but it is now on my watch list!
Same ❤
