I bought this guitar about a week or 2 after finding this video. Had to come back and say that I love it. The neck feels so great, the pickups clean up nicely, but they also can get pretty dirty. Great for any music style honestly. So if anyone is wanting to get one, just do it, it's amazing.

I want to learn guitar so, I bought my first acoustic/electric at Guitar Center the other day and then a friend says, "Hey! I didn't know you wanted a guitar. I have a Schecter PT Van Nuys I'll sell you along with a nice little amp. I'll give you the guitar stand and music books for free. You buy the ukulele too if you want." So, come Monday, all these things will be mine! The Schecter was only used ten times. MAYBEEEEE.... some day, I can play like you. I'll be binge-watching your videos now. Wonderful artistry!

I have one in the house right now. And to be honest, Jon is right about the volume drop. Very significant. The action is quit high when out of the box. Problem with my guitar was that the company sent me a used one with broken tone knob. The variations in tone seem nice, but with the volume differences it's unusable.

I never ever in a million years would have considered a Schecter. To me, they were a "pointy guitar" brand and I had zero interest. During COVID I was practicing a LOT more, and writing again. I grew bored with my Strat and began wandering the internet in search of something different. My wife said "ok, but it has to be DIFFERENT. You cannot bring home another orthodox vintage style guitar! I want to see you get something way outside your comfort zone!"
A good friend had just ordered a Tom Anderson and boy did I want one. Still do, but wow the price! I just can't justify it, I only have a few gigs per year, it's overkill. It's like going out on a group ride on a $10,000 road bike and only averaging 10mph. I went to the local Suhr dealer, expecting to be wowed.....I wasn't. I tried some PRS guitars there too. Wanted to support the home team here in Maryland...again I wasn't wowed. I really wanted that orange bluesboy from G&L but wife said "nope, that is more of the same. Get over it!" LOL
That's when I stumbled into a review of a retro Schecter, and from there into the Schecter website itself. HOLY MOLY yes a TON of pointy guitars LOL but ALSO a lot of really cool stuff, form vintage to modern. Long story short, I am now the happy owner of a Schecter PT SLS Elite. Modern slim C compound neck (which I adore), 24 ss frets, and Fishman Fluence pups. It is VERY modern, sometimes I still kinda fight with it but if I want jangly and traditional I still have 2 strats to play, but then I get sad because that Schecter neck is so much more comfortable. I might have gone for an Ibanez AZ but at the time they weren't really out and frankly the didn't show up on my radar.
I could do without the German beer hall "Schecter" font on the headstock, but otherwise I adore this guitar. Although it was at the top of my price range, its features would have cost me double from some other producers. I play it every day, and am recording with it, and I am also figuring out how to get the most out of the Fishmans (hint- the volume and tone knobs are useful from 0-10, don't be shy about exploring how they interact with the tone of the instrument). I love the clarity, and with gain I get drunk on their power. If you told me a year ago I'd be playing a Schecter I would have laughed and said "April Fool!" but here I am, and it's my favorite guitar of the three nice electrics I own.

Is the PT for Pete Townshend? He used Tele shaped Schecters in the 1980’s with The Who and for his solo work too.

@@sketchyold Thats right ! He played early 80s Schecters and some guitars built by Giffin which were copies of the Schecters !

correct. All their tele shaped guitars carry the "PT" designation as a nod to Pete Townsend

Could be possible to install a split coil system? Considering that they traditional van nuys mount the same pickup and comes with split coil from factory?

07/29/2021: It is an Ash body, but is that a veneer on the top? Also, can you split the PUs and get the Fender telecaster Twang?

Like I’ve always said. You don’t need to spend $2500 to get an amazing axe. Schecter is killing it. Why spend 2k when 900 will do just as well. Shows how overpriced some guitars are. Just my opinion tho. I may be wrong lol.

It's not a bad guitar, but you get what you pay for. Too expensive for an Indonesian made guitar with mostly average components.
