I’ll always respect Smith for this
Ya but dumb look at Aljos situation and where he is today because of it . He could have taken the belt and had another crack at Jones and get feeling what it was like to be in there w him .

they are fighting. why cant he knee him in the head? its a silly rule to protect wrestlers/mermaids.
tbh it wasn’t actually illegal jon waited till his knee was up idk why ppl call it illegal like did they not watch the video?
@@ksadjdadjaifen the actual restriction of kneeing grounded opponents isn't the issue, the problem is that it is an illegal strike and the fighters act according based on that rule set. If you're in a boxing fight and someone kicks you, you obviously aren't prepared for that and you also aren't defending yourself as if that is a reality. You can't then say "but kicking is fine in fighting what's wrong with a kick?"
In this case Smith has his hand on the ground and is sitting like this because he knows Jones can't knee him legally, the reason Jones kneeing is so bad is because the opponent isn't fighting in a way that would protect him from an illegal strike.
@@ryannafziger4097 a hand on the ground is a factor for if the strike is illegal especially under certain rule sets, just watch early Jon Jones fights where he approaches whilst crawling and keeping atleast 1 hand on the ground. That 1 hand on the ground makes him a "grounded" opponent so he can't be kicked or knee'd legally within the defined rule set.
TL;DR hand on ground = grounded opponent by the defined ruleset

Yeah it shouldn’t be on him nor should it have been on Sterling vs Yan, deliberate fouls should probably just be instant DQs
This! Irs ridiculous. Its either a rule or its not.
I know Dana and the UFC love being behind on things. Like getting the gloves made by Trevor Witman. Or things like 12-6 elbows and kicks/knees to a downed opponent. It's a war, a battle, a fucking fist fight there shouldn't be stupid kid games in the middle where you have one guy in a disadvantageous position trolling by lifting and putting down his hand or knees. It's stupid. One FC got the right rules.
@@axdx143 idk dude there’s also protecting the fighters, why do you wanna watch someone die in the ring? If you want pure violence go watch old live leak videos not ufc, sure it’s a war but there should be a level of respect and consideration for the person your fighting for, one FC had fucking soccer kicks to the head dude that can so easily kill someone if placed right and hard, you don’t fight in the gym and it’s fucking painfully obvious dude. People have died in just boxing matches let alone a cage match with 0 rules, people would die a lot more just bc you wanna watch a dude get nut stomped or soccer kicked. Martial arts is more than just violence, it’s an art form, your basically dancing with someone who wants to take your head off, I don’t do any striking anymore but I did muay Thai and tae kwon do as a teenager and that’s just not how it is man, I do strictly jiu jitsu now cause it’s more like a puzzle than a fight, most people don’t wanna actually kill someone in the ring.
@@coenduda7746 First of all you're out of pocket. I've trained in my fair share of gyms lil bro chill. Just like today there are techniques you don't throw in training like spinning shit to the head. People die from all types of stikes and submissions look at the dude recently Jordan kneely or w/e. Did anyone die in Pride? has anyone died in OneFC? You are limiting fighters. No one said 0 rules either ur just jumping to conclusions again. It's not about killing someone either it's about using all the techniques that are actually possible. It's dumb seeing Aljo play that stupid game where he shoots a shitty takedown but his hand is down or he puts his knee down its stupid. If you're gonna be stupid enough to throw an illegal strike after all these years of fighting , he should of been disqualified in my opinion no matter if lionheart could or couldn't continue
Illegal strikes in multiple fighting sports don't always disqualify you. It depends on the result of your strike, how often you're doing it, etc.. Sometimes you just lose some points. If one guy can't continue because of illegal strikes, then the other fighter would almost definitely be disqualified.
@@XENOX-777 Jones has like eyes pokes in most of his fights. He has been disqualified before. Jones is literally the most dirtiest fighter tho. Jones deserves disqualification in my opinion simply because he has history of being a dirty fighter
@@angrymaniac53 He's a "dirty" fighter but you're forgetting that it's once again okay for him to do illegal stuff as long as they're taking away points and he doesn't use an illegal strike to make it so his opponent cannot continue and he doesn't use it too much in a single fight. Refs don't really care about the history of what they did, rather what's happening in the fight. If he did an eye poke every once in a while in a fight, no refs would care that much, they'd just take away some points.
You really think those refs are taught/told to disqualify fighters easily? Longer fights that are hard fought are more entertaining. If Jon Jones is just getting disqualified left and right, they'd lose a decent amount of money. Plus, him doing so many bad things builds a whole character around him that would get people more interesting in watching.
If he can eye poke, u can eye poke. Everyone has access to doing the same things unless the refs are just biased.

Nar I honestly think rules should be done solely by the ref.
I mean not really. Getting cheated and then acting like it didn’t happen doesn’t mean it didn’t happen and he got screwed because of it.
He knows exactly what what he did. And he did it on purpose, he's been a dirty fighter his whole career! Smith's feet were both on the ground plus his hand touching the mat. And even told John don't kick cause he knows how dirty he is, and knows the kick is about to come. And still does it anyways that's sad sportsmanship to the fullest. When you cant beat em you gotta cheat em... Words of John Jones...
I agree that it was a DQ, but come on now guy for you to say "If you can't beat em cheat em" in this particular bout is insane. Smith got the beating of his life here prior to that illegal knee.

Yan’s knee was way worse than Jones’ knee
@@jocoolshow You are actually deluded if you think that brother. There was way more force/weight behind the Jones Knee, and it was threw with way more bad intention, straight to the side of the head no hesitation like Yan hesitated mid-knee.
@@massapin9293 Yan was framing and pushing his weight down onto Aljo’s head, basically holding his neck and head in place. Then he got kneed him right in the temple from that position hard enough to snap his neck back. A neck that he already needed to have surgery on.
Ontop of Aljo having a bad weight cut and being gassed out since the second round, and getting pieced up for the entire third and most of the fourth up until that point and getting slammed on his already injured neck in round 1. @@jocoolshow Just rewatch the Yan knee one more time bro, you physically cannot say that knee was more powerful than this one…
Jones knee would have easily done 2/3x the power of Yans knee.

Respect for Smith.... BUT, knees should NOT be illegal in a "Real Fight"
You are literally putting someone's life in danger with that. Sure getting punched in the face is not very healthy lol, but a knee is literally almost impossible to defend against.
