Our host has said many times that this segment, the one right after the monologue where Dave just talks to us the viewers, is his very favorite segment on TV. We used to have it every single night, and sorely miss it.
How impressive to take this situation and what any celebrity would consider a very low point and turn it into Pure Comedy Gold. That’s not talent .. that is an Artist
Great story and what I like, besides the voice he does when he says "Leave that boy alone" is Paul at the end saying "... at your age, yeah." He sounds like the friend who has now heard the story and is thinking "Wow, you're an idiot."
You know, that might not have been the best approach. Who wants paparazzi taking photos as you drop dead of a heart attack because you're so riled up. Better to just keep running and ignore them.
Another great story was when Dave went jogging and somone asked him if he "knew where they found the body?". I think it was Mothers Day? Fathers Day? Dave drew a diagram on a chalkboard.
Yeah, well, Dave. You've made a career out of bothering people on the street! And some of those people were genuinely irritated, inconvenienced, upset and then put on national TV! You should have just smiled and let Chris and Beefy take your picture. You would have saved your heart some stress.
the amount that I've been enjoying Letterman lately = massive
Same here. It’s my new favorite channel.
We are so grateful this and Don Giller’s channel exists. So much gold. Example: ‘I look like a plucked ostrich.’
Great story! Paul's support always makes me laugh.
Absolutely
How did this audio and these photos never see the light of day? Loved this story.
Agreed.
Probably bought the rights to it himself.
Because he is a comedian and he and his staff of comedy writers made it up.
When I think that I used to be able to watch Letterman five nights a week, damn! These days, I don't watch television at all.
We talk about this a lot on our show. It’s bonkers that we had him every night for decades.
And Dave, you always tell really great stories.

This is where we got the incredible monologues about Jay vs. Conan...."don't blame Conan" 🤣🤣🤣
@@NevinNolte absolutely. Also the bear story. And many, many other moments.
@@NevinNolte This was maybe the funniest thing I ever saw on Letterman
I wanna take a listen to that soundtrack and a look at those pictures to laugh my socks off
My favorite part of the CBS years was what I called "Dave's Story Time." Loved it when he talked directly to us.
"Zoos across the country". Dammit, that's funny.
Lines like that were his superpower.
love to see Dave get in someone's face! 😁
I wish someone put this exchange on RUclips
@@this-is-slammin-549 this was pre RUclips.
@@DrVVVinK It wasn’t pre hardrive.
Yes!
Thank you guys!!!! (Luigi from Italy)

You're my hero Dave, much more fun and cuter than Clint Eastwood.
Dave interacting with Clint Eastwood on one of his last Carson appearances is a fantastic moment.
Deskside stories are the best.
‘Well, the boys have got me over a barrel now.’
I very much enjoy seeing all the different hairstyles he's had over the years...always handsome
Our Clint!

Dave should have shown the gentleman his throwing arm.
Bravo.

Still bitter .. aren't we Jay
haha billions of people wake up each day & prepare for their late show monologue
Sooo... keys for the tape swap was not an option?
everybody loves Texas justice
Were the photos and audio of Dave ever shown? Did someone who wanted to destroy them pay a lot for them?
We'll be right back with Halle Berry.
And that’s when the show got weaker.
Back in the day now…. Crazy iPhone 📱 not the same
Is it legal to record audio with out consent?
I don’t like Texas justice.
upload that paparazzi audio cowards!
