I want them to make a re-adaptation of this anime with new art style and true ending according to the book. Would be damn magnificent don't you think ?
I really liked their relationship in the anime. Haydée is so often portrayed as a non-existent, annoying, or even straight up negative character, since the main romance of the story is more the one between Edmond and Mercédés, not Edmond and her. I personally really like the portrayal of the Edmond-Mercédés couple in the anime as well - they had many scenes where you could feel the longing and love between them, as much as the saddening fact that they are lost for each other. But Haydée was finally portrayed in the role she is - the healer. Basically she is the only one, who believes in Edmond through the whole story. Yes, Albert is the one who gives him back his humanity, but even he doubts and challenges him, while Haydée stays by his side from the beginning to the end, deals with his manipulative and vengeful nature, tries to give him back a little sanity, and show him the path. So I was sad they changed the original ending, and Edmond died instead of leaving with Haydée, with the hope she gives, that he may still have a chance to find his way back to himself, and be happy. This AMV took out the most beautiful moments between the two.
I was disappointed with the anime's ending as well. I had hoped that he would be able to survive after Gankutsuou left his body, with Haydee, Ali, Bertuccio, and Baptistin helping him heal. Once Haydee is sure that he is out of danger, and will make a full recovery, she leaves since she thinks he doesn't need her due to his revenge being fulfilled. He regains consciousness to find that she's gone, and eventually learns that she went back to Janina where she has been reestablished as the princess and ruler. Once Edmond has made a full recovery, he goes to see her one last time before he leaves for good since he doesn't expect her to forgive him. Their reunion is reminiscent to when she first met him, and she surprises him by forgiving him. He embraces her, finally allowing himself to admit that he had grown to love her. With Ali, Bertuccio, and Baptistin by their side, they begin a life ruling together in Janina where Edmond is finally at peace.
Princess Haydee reminds me of Mutio from "Blue Submarine No. 6" (not surprisingly by the same director as "Gankutsuou") and the Count sometimes resembled the Ghost Ship captain, Verg, in some scenes. I liked the part when Haydee as a slave meets the Count who, to her surprise, shows her the respect befitting a princess of royal blood.
omg...Awesome Haydee so beautiful "you are the only person in the world whom i..hold dear" soooo nice haydee love the count..but he just want revenge this amv 1000/1000 but 5 the max so 5/5
I think the same!! He MUST live!! He's sooo cool, intelligent, awesome!!... He's just perfect! And Haydee is sooooo cute and beautiful!! They MUST be together
You recall correctly. There is no love between Albert and the Count. In the book, when Count has had his revenge and is contemplating if he had any right to do so, he leaves France with Haydee, who confesses her love to him. It's such a pity anime changed the ending because aside from it, this is the best adaptation of Dumas' book.
Haydee was too young for him, and more important he was her father figure. I love that they changed that creepy stuff and make her rebuilt her Kingdom as the ruler, really a good ending for Haydée
Í am a fan of the novel since I had 13 years and the only think than dosen´t fit to of the anime is than Edmond (Monte Cristo) dies... he most to stay alive so he can live towether with Haydeé is not a fair end to me. Is the only thing i would change of the anime history :'(

Guys, The count's age is relatively like father-daughter to Haydee... Not that I give a sheet hehehe... Damn shame the anime changed the books ending and broke my God damn ship
I think her name is actually spelled "Haidee". Or at least that was how Netflix spelled it. If you want to spell it like how it's pronounced in Japanese it would be "Hede".
its nothing between count and haydee but its a realy sad love story between then but the Count only loved Mercedes so......nobody else. P.S.u sud used a nother melody from naruto like lonliness not sadness and sorows
Actually he does love her. Throughout the book he mostly refers to her as his daughter however right before he reveals himself to Fernando and the latest committing suicide, Haidee expresses her absolute will to kill herself if anything happened to him and for the first time the count suspects she loves him more than just a child loving a parent. A little before Fernando gets in, the count kisses Haidee on the forehead and feels his heart flattering and he thinks: "Oh! Am I allowed to love again?" Which is the first time it actually occurs him that he has started falling for her not with the love of father but the one of a lover. In the end of the book Haidee confesses her love for him openly because the count was ready to leave her and let her live free. At that moment he accepts her feelings and takes her with him. It is not clarified in the book with all those extreme lovey-dovey words he used for Mercedes but it is obvious to the readers that he would eventually be completely healed from the love of Mercedes and so to leave his past behind.
@@katerinaaqu Edmond thought she loved him like a daughter, but in chapter 90 he realizes that she loves him differently. HAYDEE MY BEAUTIFUL ANGEL SPACE QUEEN ILU.
This was a beautiful depiction of their relationship, and a haunting highlight of my favorite character.

Totally agreed! This scene makes me want to watch the anime even more even if certain things change from the book.

haydee is the best girl
This anime deserved a remake and with an end equal to the novel.
Aw yeah, I would love that books ending cause the, just like in the actual Western movie where the count survives
in anime Ede Is young girl and my guy should find an emperor.

I like that Haydee's basically a Chinese Ottoman Elf Princess.
Very beautiful and sad. The subs fit nicely in the mood. Even though I haven't watched this anime yet, I'm so gonna watch it when I find time! 5/5
WOW!! You made a grat video!!! I love the song [I see Naruto XD] and this anime! You do an excellent combination!!!
