You should separate and rotate inward the two boards. You have a split ortho keyboard and are still twisting your wrists like a regular keyboard. That's causing your fingers to splay instead of falling naturally together. Put away the keyboard, put your hands on the table lined up with your shoulders and look at where your hands naturally fall. Put the keyboard halves there.
I might love split keyboards and have a big collection of them, but the keyboard I always go back to and have been typing 80% of my time the past 2 years is the Unibody version of the Corne, Cornelius. So yeah I am quite used to having them close together. I know it's not the most ergonomic way, but it's hard to shake of muscle memory and habits
@@voidmachinesTouch typing is much more than just using every finger. I highly recommend you learn using it, especially with a split ergo keyboard. It’s faster and less fatiguing.
I don't think you are typing correctly on this keyboard: one of the benefits of using these small factor keyboards is that you don't need to move your hand at all. The index fingers should only press the internal two columns, then one column for the middle finger, one for the ring finger and finally the last two columns are for the little finger. You are not using your little fingers at all. You use 3 columns with the index finger and for the external columns you use your ring finger: for this reason you are forced to move your hands left and right quite a lot.
I have mentioned it quite a few times, It's not easy for me to type in general, due to my arthritis, if you watch my videos, you will notice that I type quite differently from times to times.
@@krige don't worry it is a comment I get pretty often 😂 I don't mind i that much. But to be honest before I got into mechanical keyboards I was typing probably with 2 fingers on each hand so I do have some bad muscle memory from over all these years.
I always keep it in my bag. So for the time I only use it once per week when I actually have to go to the office. My endgame keyboard is clearly the Cornelius. Which I have used at least 70% of the time since I got it.
Yes that's what I mean. Sorry I know my accent is not perfect 😁 I am doing the best. Indeed this version had a small chance of the Bluetooth module shorting against the case....which could be easily fixed just by adding kapton tape between the Bluetooth and the case. Easy fix....just need to be a little bit careful with the screws
Unfortunate for such a great design and build to ship with a fatal issue with BT. Great video, do you like the Sunsets? I am currently using Pro Red Chocs on my 5col Corne, but I am really tempted to swap in some Sunsets
I have several keyboards with kyria-like stagger. I love them but they are not for everyone. Personally I feel more comfortable with the corne stagger 😉
I am using qwerty so I don't have a strong opinion on non qwerty layouts. Also what makes a split keyboard special with Neovim? I can share my Neovim config if you are interested. But I don't think it's so interesting anyway 😁. I recently started a more tech oriented channel tbh. But unfortunately lately I have been unable to finish new videos because of some overtime and deadlines we got at work
@@hcjkruse the ploopy trackballs are amazing I got 2 of them. But out of the box they are really really noisy. The steel bearings with the pool ball are not the best combination. If you have a 3d printer and time, there are several mods you can try.
@@RobertHall-x3v not really. It's a great trackball mouse. Since I got it I have never used another one. The only downside is that it's noisy by default and you might need to mod it. i.e. change the steel bearings to BTUs. But that requires a 3d printer.
Skip the first 30 seconds.

bruddah you still don't touch type?
I don't use the pinky on my right hand often but apart from that I am using everything other finger.

why are your fingers so weird placed over the board ?? cant you type normally like a human being.
I've mentioned it before in a different video. But no I can't ..the reason I got into ergonomic keyboards is mainly because I got arthritis

where can I find that mousepad?
that mousepad was part of a group by, so it won't be easy or simple to find it, but similar ones are occasionally available from prototypist.net
What’s the bag where you have it? It looks perfect for it
It came with the keyboard. I didn't get it separately. 🙂
Thansk for sharing, I always enjoy watching "X product after Y months" type videos. Will you start using it again?

For anyone like me wondering what is "sort", "shots". He probably means the short - as in the module is shorting against the case.

I also noticed it was wrong in the description, so I fixed that as well. Thanks 😊
No worries, just mentioning it as I stumbled on this. Thanks!@@voidmachines

Sunsets are definitely a favourite here, next to robins. I have never used reds. I got a corne with blacks though which feels slightly stiff.
The split kb community needs more aluminium case boards. If this had a more agressive stagger i would’ve bought it

Really like your key caps. Do you have a link for where your ordered them from?
They are the standard mbk keycaps...those were probably ordered from splitkb.com
Can you make a video about split keyboard and Neovim? About non querty layout and Neovim if you use that? And about that ploopy trackball?

It's called ploopy mini
