I can see how much this ride meant to you Shaun. Thanks for giving it a great send off that it deserves. Hoping it’s being broken down and rebuild in another park, as that would be terrible to put this iconic ride in the scrap after all those years it made millions for Drayton, hoping they give that ride the respect it deserves…. Just seen the final saying it’s being sold for scrap metal…. Such a real shame….
Ughhh I’m so sad for you and Charlotte. I know how special those first date memories can be. Seems like such a loss for the park and the industry, I’m glad that you are out there to preserve the legacy of attractions like this.❤
Hi shawn, this is a bit off topic but I just want to say thank you. I'm currently going through the worst break up I've ever had, and was contemplating ending it at times. Your videos have helped me keep my mind occupied and picked me up. So thank you kindly
Oh I'm so sorry for you Shawn it's obvious how much it meant to you and the memory for you both I have to say there was tears in my eyes when you had your last ride thankyou for sharing something so personnel to you both xx
The saddest thing really is that no one else wanted to buy it. I know it was a 22 year old ride that needed a lot of work but I thought it would have found a new home somewhere, especially with the nominations and awards it received.
Such fond memories of apocalypse. One of my first 'big' rides as a kid, my poor dad went on 3 times. I chickened out the first time, had my eyes shut the second. Gone off drop towers these days, but such an iconic ride, I'm surprised how sad I am to see it go :(
This is the sad moment however, the future is looking bright for this park. It is a shame however, but they’re going for the family audience but it’s looking like next year. They’ll be a brand-new rollercoaster being built on there or a new area with a couple of flat rides. This is a big step in the family audience and if you didn’t know shockwave was actually supposed to go instead, however now it’s looking like they’ll get sitdown trains to go to the mall family way of the park. Lovely content, Shawn keep it up. RIP apocalypse
The first time I ever rode Apocalypse, I must have been barely 7 years old (about 20 years ago now), and just tall enough to get on the sit down towers. Right before me was a group of older teenage boys/young adult men who walked in, looked up at the tower, and immediately went to the exit. I obviously rushed straight on with my parents and screamed like a banshee the entire way down the drop. The group before me had stayed to watch and looked extremely embarrassed that a small boy had braved Apocalypse when they'd wimped out. Even to my final ride it still kept my anxiety at max levels when waiting to drop, and had my heart going like the clappers when it was over. RIP Apocalypse. Whatever replaces you had better be incredible.
Sad to hear this. I remember riding the 'stand up floorless' when I was around 17 about 20 years ago. We were fearless teenagers who were more interesting in messing about on the ride but this stand up floorless scared the heck out of us (we'd ridden the stand and sitting without any issues whatsoever so this totally took us by surprise). Park of my youth but sadly I've never been able to get back since then but was hoping to one day ride it again to see if it was as scary and fun as I remembered..
That's so sad :( I used to have a season pass for Drayton Manor growing up just down the road from the park and me and my friends would go every day after school to ride that. The park won't be the same without it.
Love your documentary style videos, to blend it with a vlog is genius. I loved your video of American adventure and that's what made me subscribe, its a part of my life and I'm glad to have you both to show me things that I don't know. Much love Xxxx Ross
I fear about this because I haven’t even been there and I get the feeling by the time I have gotten there they were removed everything that I want to ride including the last intamin standup coaster, shockwave
I personally think that Detonator at Thorpe Park is the most intense ride that I've ever been on. Sadly, I never got to ride this masterpiece, which would probably be even more intense than Detonator because of it's height. A sad time for any enthusiast. Let's hope that Drayton install something incredible in it's place.
Imagine something like Pony Express from Knott's Berry Farm, but longer and faster, that would be cool, but I'm sure whatever Drayton decide to invest in, will be amazing.
Yeah Detonator is a launched drop I believe so it will be more intense initially but I would argue apocalypse is more scary as the free fall feeling lasts longer.
THAT SIREN IS SO NOSTALGIC! I remember going on it for the last time and I was really upset when I saw it been removed! I wish this ride could of stayed longer so I could of got like the stand up because I only rode the sit down on its final year
Sounds like the previous owners did not keep up on the maintenance on this ride. They did a few things after years of neglect to keep it somewhat going but probably overall it had a lot of deferred maintenance that forced the new owners to look at better options for the space given the likely cost to fully bring it back. Good news is it looks like there will be a lot of room to hopefully create a new iconic roller coaster.
I posted some of these construction photos on TST a few years back. Not my photos but awesome non the less. I have loads more really cool ones, if I had known you was doing this video I would have sent them across. Nice video
the other week I came here with my dad and I went on this ride all by myself. I can see a lot of people saying they’ve never been on it. That’s very sad. It was a great ride and will always be remembered.
So long apocalypse may your memory remain you will never be forgotten the legacy of that ride will be remembered what a fantastic ride been on it loads over the years so much fun ❤
I wish Alton Towers could've bought it. Even if it required placing it half underground in a hole. Also you have a very good "documentary" voice. Sounds very professional!
RIP Apocalypse, i never had the chance to come to the UK but the thrill had me here in my home of tennessee. you been a great part of shawn and charlotte's life as in mine. i know there is another place for you here on earth maybe something bigger and stronger. goodbye my friend of shawn and charlotte
I was going to go to this park in 2017 and 2018 after seeing your vlogs from there over the years, however we went to alton towers in 2017 and thorpe park in 2018 instead. I've regretted it ever since due to the fact the two main rides I wanted to go on closed (G-Force and Apocalypse). I'm excited for the future of this park but I still wish I went in 2018 and got to ride Apocalypse in the best condition its been in the past few years, as well as riding G-Force which looked like one of the more unique coasters in the UK. RIP Apocalypse 2000-2022
So so sad to see appocalipse go I loved that ride alot it was the first ride my son went on with me so many memories you will never be forgotten rip lovely video both of you xxx 😭😭😭😍😍😍
What a way to send of this incredible ride Shawn. Just the let you know at 6:35 in this video there were some teenagers doing some disrespectful things to you and Charlotte
It's sad to see it go, was one of my favourite rides as a kid and living in Tamworth it became great landmark been able to see it from all around Tamworth, I was obsessed with this ride as a kid
I never got to ride this drop tower as when i visited the park i was only little but its so sad to see it shut. I actuallu got really emotional at the end of the video and it made me cry when it said a buyer wasnt found and the ride will be left for scrap metal 😢
This was the first “big boy” ride I ever went on years ago. Circa 2012. Always been my favourite ride, rode it last June 2022, had no idea that’d be the last time. Will always miss this ride😕
I'm really sad that this ride is gone and especially being scrapped I only got to ride it for the first time this year in the summer and I rode it 3 times in total and I only got to experience the sit down tower I would have loved to have done it standing up and I wish I could have rode it more over the years it was a really good drop tower one of the best I've been on and I love the height and the view and the intensity and speed of the drop and I loved hearing the sirens before it went up too and I look forward to seeing what replaces Apocalypse in the future but for me Drayton Manor will never be the same without this iconic ride and I will never forget it and will really miss it goodbye Apocalypse 2000-2022
Was my first large ride, back in 2004, I took my 7 year old on Friday for his 1st then his last ever ride on this amazing iconic ride, I really hope this isn't the start of removing the OG rides from Drayton manor
Loved Apocalypse. Went on as a teenager and later with my son, then son and daughter on Apocalypse. Loved the thrill every time. Sad loss to our local park, which seems to be handing over to kids rides. Probably Won't be returning to Drayton Manor.
I've probably been on apocalypse around 50 times in my life, had a season pass for three years in the mid-2010s as a preteen, and the ride was always a highlight. I live in Tamworth near the park so when driving on the bypass every week into Ventura, you could always see apocalypse to the left of your window and as a child it always made me excited to be tall enough to ride it. I know the park is doing a lot better financially now than it was a few years ago, but in my personal opinion, i think it's a shadow of its former self. The thrill element of the park is virtually gone. They've gotten rid of G force, pandemonium, Stand up Shockwave and apocalypse. And the new coaster that is supposedly replacing all these big thrill rides is a family coaster. It's just sad. One of the main selling points for season passes was for local kids to go and ride those rides every weekend but the new owners have seen the success of Thomas Land and decided to familyfy the whole park because its more marketable. Yeah, it looks good, but when I last went in 2022, I wasn't impressed as a ride lover. The new viking section, while it looked good, was boring to ride. It really is a shame because Drayton mannor did hold a lot of bug thrill ride records in the 2000s, and now there's only a memory of that. I honestly think things started to go downhill after the Splash Canyon incident. They lost a lot of customers because of it and I think thats a big reson as to why they closed G force when it started needing maintenancebut they weren'tmaking the money to fund it anymore. I remember Storm force Ten being shut down a lot due to maintenance at that time too, as well as the apocalypse towers. But covid really was the final nail in the coffin. Even though they had tried to keep up the maintenance of the rides pre-covid, they couldn't once the world shut down. And the new owners are clearly not interested in the parks history and its award winning and record holding rides, which is why the thrill rides have all been slowly dying off. If they wanted to, they could've invested in the maintenence. If Drayton mannor never had the splash canyon incident which started their financial troubles, they would've been able to keep up with the rides maintenence costs and it probably never would've gotten to the state it did when they finally removed it. Wrote my name on it the last time I rode it with my friends in 2022 since we knew it would be the last time. It truly was the crowning Jewel of the park that overlooked the whole park. My prediction is the next ride they'll remove is Storm Force 10. From what I can remember, the upkeep was difficult, and it was always having technical issues at the start of every season. I hope I'm not right because it would be a shame to see it go. I will forever miss apocalypse though, one of my all-time favourite rides.
Absolutely gutted. Apocalypse was a true icon and it will be missed by all. I was so gutted when gforce was removed but this is heartbreaking:( I really hope they replace it with something exciting!
I loved this ride. Only ride in UK to really make me think twice about going on 😂 I remember going on it opening year, and the music was so intense! Shame cannot find the original music anywhere!
It’s a shame as back in 2020 it was operating with the floorless, 1 stand up and both sit down. Then at the start of the 2021 season they removed 1 of the sit downs as it was used for spares to keep the other sit down operating so it was down to 3. Then around July 2021 the stand up was taken away as it needed a new cable installed so it was then down to 2 then went down to 1 around the end of April 2022. They did spend money on getting the floorless back up and working and it did go up but failed to release so had to be lowered back down and it been covered over since the end of August as it wasn’t worth spending the money on. With Maelstrom been 20 years old now will that be the next thrill flat ride to leave the park.
Very sad to hear. I haven't been to Drayton Manor that much, but from when I went. I don't remember any other rides apart from Apocalypse. Very sad to hear it's gone, and that the management think they need to replace it when it is the flagship ride.
Thank you for watching. Check out our final vlog of the season from Drayton Manor here - ruclips.net/video/WJo4gjd6Ni4/видео.html

The problem is a drop tower is just a drop tower, why buy one that’s struggling to run effectively when you can get a new one built.
Will miss this ride!

Beautifully done Shawn. A fitting tribute to an awesome ride!

Very sad to see it go!
Rip apocalypse 2000-2022 but there is gonna be a new coaster replacing it

Made me tear up lols
Very sad to hear. I haven't been to Drayton Manor that much, but from when I went. I don't remember any other rides apart from Apocalypse. Very sad to hear it's gone, and that the management think they need to replace it when it is the flagship ride.
