ATTENTION EVERYONE: Thank you all for watching, I'd like to quickly address a few mistakes I made in this video: Firstly, I showed a picture of an Iguanodon as painted by Charles Knight - that was actually Burian's. I had the image in the wrong folder and didn't even check. Second, I showed an image of Burian's Tarbosaurus next to the Carnivores T-Rex. I knew full well that was a Tarbosaurus, no idea why I just put it up with the T-Rex. My bad, fam. And lastly, I believe Prehistoric Kingdom will and JPOG did have elements of dinosaurs hunting in packs together. That is all. Thanks for watching everyone, have a great day!
@@TheMightyN because that's the Carnivores style. Based around old paleoart. It's something franchises have gotta do, stay in the already set up rules. It's clearly stated I'm the video.
The most underrated animal in the carnivores franchise are the pine trees in Ice Age. They are very ferocious if approached the wrong way and are very cool
Totally agree. You gotta watch out for the palms in Carnivores 1 too, though. Just look at 'em wrong and they'll block your escape from a charging carnivore.
I believe that the Ceratosaurus is the most underrated. I hadn't heard of anyone hunting it or even talking about it until the challenge went live on facebook. It has a cool design and somewhat unique behaviors but it is completely overshadowed by the other big predators, especially T-rex since they use most of the same animations.
I really love the Coelophysis too, especially when hunting it without radar. You see, you can hear the pack from a mile away from the sounds they make, allowing you to prepare and encouraging hunters to listen, but despite being small, they can one hit you just like everything else, and due to their ability to regroup and attack in overwhelming numbers, you really have to be cunning or skilled to slay the entire pack. Use the environment to your advantage such as climbing mountains, getting them stuck on ravines and slopes, etc. Or pick them off in the distance with a sniper and then quickly evacuate. It really makes this game and hunting a lot more intriguing, and as if I am hunting real intelligent, dangerous animals instead of AI that act very similar to each other. Now, I love the AI in Carnivores as well as the next person, but Coelophysis definitely stands out and deserved #1 on this list.
Excellent analysis, I totally agree. The Coelophysis has opened a whole new world of possible animal behaviors and interactions, if the devs will take advantage of it.
I think the Utahraptor should keep it's feathers, it makes it unique and helps it stand out from the Velociraptor. Or they could have quills instead like the male Raptors in Jurassic Park 3 have.
I think the Allo would be 4 for me, it's the first animal in carnivores that is a carnivore, it shaped me into being a man, even though it's the main reason my herbivore hunts are unsuccessful
In my opinion, the most underrated is the Amargasaurus, especially since no one talks about them these days! Also an Underrated artist of paleoart that people never talks about is Rob Walters
100% agree. If Carnivores ever got a proper HD remake, I have a feeling the Spinosaurus would look exactly like the Spinoraptor (except for the feet, obviously).
I like how this video is basically a tutorial on how to design a good Carnivores creature design. This actually really helps when working on things like fan made designs either in art or mods.

I also really like how Velociraptor and Gallimimus look so similar. It really makes this alien world feel real! Like maybe the Gallimimus looks like a Velociraptor so that predators will hesitate to hunt it, or maybe the Velociraptor looks like a Gallimimus so herbivores won’t expect their demise! Maybe both! I just like it. It’s similar to how some non-venomous snakes look like venomous ones to scare away predators.
Good to have you back saurian! Missed your videos.! For me, the most underrated dinosaurs in Carnivores are Brachiosaurus, Amargasaurus, Triceratops and Carnotaurus
I'm binging your videos and wow! I didn't know how much interesting information there was to this game series. I haven't played since grade school and its so nostalgic looking back at it. Idk why but this game just popped back into my head today! I'm glad I decided to look it up again and stumbled onto your channel. I was unaware how popular the game still is and the amount of mods out there. I am going to try and redownload and get back into it! I saw you have a video on that too that I'll be checking out. Subscribed thanks!!!
Another fantastic video, and great points on all the dinosaurs listed. While I do like the official Carnivores style look of the carnivores, that has been something that ALWAYS bothered me since I first found out about the games. Not because I think they should have been 100% faithful to Burian's art, but because the predators look so much more derived than the herbivores. I look at the Stegosaurus and think "How the heck is this animal supposed to realistically survive in an environment with carnivores bigger than it like T.rex and Ceratosaurus?" This has given me an idea for something to work on, for fun anyway...
In terms of Cityscape, I'd say the Nanotyranus is underrated. It's one of the few Dinosaurs in the entire game that's killed me the most, and it takes meaty chunks of health off the Agents health. Of course, the game's A.I. wasn't really designed that well, so I can understand why none of the none of the 5 Dinosaurs were mentioned. However, the pack-hunting of the Celeo on the mobile port of Carnivores 2 is certainly something worth discussing.
The Ceratosaurus was another one I was thinking about mentioning, but I just assumed that most players would've already highly praised it. After all, it came with the more realistic eye-closing detail, when it was tranquilized/killed, not to mention its tank-y nature.
Actually, a little comment in the pack hunting behavior. I think the carnivorous animals in the demo of PK do behave diferently when they are on group, attacking larger prey but it is a bit clunky (although it is a little bit better with Velociraptor packs and more noticeable with Allosaur ones). Also, if I'm correct, the Velociraptors of JPOG do wander around relatively close and attack in groups, but they are definetly clunky and they do not decide which prey to take down toghether.
Ah, that's great to hear! I really hope PK does well, it seems to have so much potential. I actually wasn't sure if the Velociraptors in JPOG had actual pack hunting or not, but that's good to know! Thanks for the clarification!

I recall Zallenger did a Brontops art work in a children's book called Prehistoric Animals. The animals had a furry hide with a heavy "Y" shaped horn similar to the brontotherium in body shape.
You could very easily defend Carnivores' inaccuracies through the simple fact that the series was never meant to be scientific. Seriously, if we're gonna take a scientific approach to this, then why are clearly earthly plants on this alien world? What about the wolves and pigs? Why don't all of these predators compete each other into extinction? If it's a completely different planet in which these creatures evolved under completely different circumstances, why do they even resemble Earth's animals at all? I honestly feel like we should just treat the science of the series like Prehistoric Park treats its time portal. Science really isn't the focus of the series, and trying to explain things away just kinda muddies the experience.
I agree? I don't think I took a scientific approach to this, did I (aside from a couple of quick mentions)? The "science" is usually there as an ambiguous scapegoat for undercooked explanations. I mean, this is a dinosaur hunting game, if you're in in it for the science, you're in it for the wrong reasons. xD
For me, one of the most underrated animals is the Amargasaurus. Because, like Coelophysis, it opens up a brand new world for official Carnivores content, huntable sauropods.

Personally I would design the Velociraptor after Steve Kirk's own interpretation from 1988's MacMillan Illustrated Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Animals book since his own artstyle looks very Burian inspired.
I sure wish the steam release/mobile port would finally happen.... The second it happens, EVERYTHING changes, and this channel will have A LOT more content to talk about. For example.... I feel like the moschops is kinda known for its meme potential, but i say what about the pig? And the Dimetrodon? They both look equally silly for different reasons, idk why nobodys noticed that
The Ceratosaurus, The new indricotherium, Allosaurus And titanis . These allo And Ceratosaurus are the perfect examples of animals in the Carnivores series that are altered to the point where they are different from what they are based on, but yet these iconic dinosaurs are canon and, still super recognizable as a Ceratosaurus and Allosaurus, and very awesome to hunt Titanis helped add ferocity to the unbalanced ice age roster, and the new indricotherium is a perfect example of what the new animals should be
I feel like every dinosaur in the game that was a known pack hunter should have pack hunting AI as well as herbivores being in herds. Even larger carnivores should have a group AI, such as allosaurus, ceratosuarus, and even tyrannosaurus. Of course large animals like these wouldn’t have been in packs, but they could be in small groups of 2 or possibly 3
Saurian Target, I have a question regarding to the carnivores canon Say, for example, Both New Appalachia and Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter have a Utahraptor but it is not conflicting because Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter is a seperate canon and New Appalachia is a seperate canon so, then why shouldn't New World have a Utahraptor? I mean since New World is Lenient Canon and New Appalachia is Conventional Canon so both belong to seperate canons so there wouldn't be any problem if New World also has a Utahraptor, right? I mean my question is why shouldn't a Lenient Canon mod should have the dinosaur species that already appeared in a Conventional mod? I actually don't know whether Lenient Canon mods could have Dinosaur species that already appeared in a Conventional Canon mod or not, but it just seems like that because, for example, New World doesn't have any dinosaur species that already appeared in a Conventional Canon mod like Utahraptor of New Appalachia. That's my doubt, and if I am annoying with these questions I am sorry and also sorry for the poor grammer english is not my native language. Also, your Utahraptor drawing shown in this video is nice and I wish it was like this in the game.
Well, the whole canon-debate has actually been resolved now, because the "canons" are no longer a thing! I'll talk more about this in an upcoming video, but basically, the mods are doing away with the canons because of all the strife it caused, and now allows more headcanon freedom. As for why Utahraptor isn't in A New World, it's just because the mod creator didn't want it in the game. A New World focuses more on East Asian dinosaur types, and Utahraptor doesn't really fit that description.
Hey saurian I'm working on a challenge for you on desperation, so wanted you to know, and I would like to know what the program to edit carnivores and make new models is.
I wonder how the game would had turned out if they either made it all classical paleoart(including predators) or all modern, Jurassic parkish styled, maybe you should ask poharex to do a mod on that P.s. I also suggest a Alien planet/Darvin Iv mod
If you're looking for a good Ice Age sequel, I'd recommend Far North. It's superior to Ice Age and what was going to be in Ice Age 2 in every way (IMO).
Saurian Target I’m mad about Far North. Even though there’s one map available at the time of this comment, and not every DLC creature has been revealed yet. It looks so fun to play.
G’day Saurian, so, this morning I was playing on my IPad for the Mobile Port Challenge (dinosaurs that are only in Dinosaur Hunter and on the last map) and I realised something quite « horrifying » with the Coelophysis that can make this one the scariest of all Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter huntable dinos : The AI makes it flee at first, and once they are quite far away, they start to track you down. And here comes the best part : once they start to follow you, they will NEVER let you go, you can teleport to the end of the map, they will still follow you until you die or finish the hunt. I don’t know, I think everyone found out already before me but I just saw it this morning and I thought I’d let you know that in case you didn’t hear about this behaviour
This is true! They kind of have a pseudo-Rex AI, where they'll flee for a bit if startled, but they always come back with a vengeance. if you time your relocates right, you can get every single Coelophysis in the game to come after you in a gigantic pack.

These allo And Ceratosaurus are the perfect examples of animals in the Carnivores series that are altered to the point where they are different from what they are based on, but yet these iconic dinosaurs are canon and, still super recognizable as a Ceratosaurus and Allosaurus, and very awesome to hunt
Titanis helped add ferocity to the unbalanced ice age roster, and the new indricotherium is a perfect example of what the new animals should be
In Carnivores Ice Age, wolves should be in packs, because in real life they are known to move in packs.
Totally. Coelophysis has opened so many doors for possible animal behaviors, we just gotta take advantage of it.
Saurian Target, I have a question regarding to the carnivores canon
Say, for example, Both New Appalachia and Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter have a Utahraptor but it is not conflicting because Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter is a seperate canon
and New Appalachia is a seperate canon so, then why shouldn't New World have a Utahraptor?
Thanks alot for the reply.
I think the stegosaurus is a very slept on Dino in general
So it should’ve made an appearance
Also how is it not dangerous in the carnivores franchise
Nope not dangerous at all
I want the creators to add a new dinosaur or a new map or a new weapon
11:31 give the animal some love
Hey saurian I'm working on a challenge for you on desperation, so wanted you to know, and I would like to know what the program to edit carnivores and make new models is.
Is carnivores coming on steam? I am so sick of playing this jewel on a mobile phone. And my pc has no cd port.
At some point! Not sure when though.
SAURIAN THERE IS A NEW MANDIBLES UPDATE!!! (also do a review on mandibles anyways)
Saurian you wied to widdle ol’ me, how dawe you wike the chasmo?! I’m vewy vewy angwee >:c
I AM A GUTLESS FLIP-FLOPPER
Haha! Totally caught that mammoth sound!
Used it for my skin pack 😂
Clever Saurian
I knew you'd catch those. xD
Why is ceolophysis broken first of all he looks far away when he is right in front of you it's just broken
Jpog has herding
Please see pinned comment, thanks!
Do a video of "Top 5 worst extended cannon weapons"
Yes a top 5 I missed these :(
I wonder how the game would had turned out if they either made it all classical paleoart(including predators) or all modern, Jurassic parkish styled, maybe you should ask poharex to do a mod on that
P.s. I also suggest a Alien planet/Darvin Iv mod
Is Carnivores:Ice Age 2 still available?
Don't think it ever was?
Saurian Target Damn. I was hoping to see some more content on it.
Saurian Target I think I need to have the original, because I tried downloading the mod (and Fallen Kings) but it’s not opening.
YEYEYEY FANTASTIC VID
THANK YOU
stegosaurus is underrated because its big and easy to hunt like if you're using pistol and shotgun
Also, can you like draw some more Dino's? I know the vid was like a year ago know but I love the carnivores jenisis vids
G’day Saurian, so, this morning I was playing on my IPad for the Mobile Port Challenge (dinosaurs that are only in Dinosaur Hunter and on the last map) and I realised something quite « horrifying » with the Coelophysis that can make this one the scariest of all Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter huntable dinos :
The AI makes it flee at first, and once they are quite far away, they start to track you down.
Good vid u are the legend 👍
I wish theh made the allosaurus bigger and not as agile, because they are basically a raptor at their size
Yes 1# is my favorite I love hunting them so much fun
