What a waste of our hard earned money invested in EVs in Canada. A cold nation that has winter's that last 6 months on average. The EVs battery is not clean and easily a detriment to our environment. The cost alone is untenable for regular Canadians. This is a sham and we need to wake up to govt control.

Here is a simple fact. EV batteries DO NOT WORK when it gets COLD!!! Last winter when Alberta had those freezing temps of -37C, EV drivers, leaving from Edmonton, showed that they had enough power to reach Calgary. They were out of power and stuck on the QE2 highway just before the turn off to Olds. No where near Calgary. They were phoning garages to tow them to the nearest charge station. I know this because I was at Fountain Tire in Olds for my car's oil change and overheard all these phone calls coming in. Apparently, there is a charge station on the same premises of the Shell Gas Station between the town limits and the QE2 Hwy. but that doesn't help the stranded EV drivers in extreme cold weather conditions. My husband and I live in the country and electricity is more expensive out here than in the city. So my next vehicle will be gas powered as I am against EV's and Hybrids and I DO NOT approve of someone (i.e. Trudeau) forcing me to drive an EV.

I got a letter yesterday that informed me the new immigrants are geting $2,850 a month and as a senior citizen having worked for more than fifty years I get only $1,120 why do non citizens new to Canadians so called gets almost $1,700 more than me?!
If you don't mind sharing the details, could you tell us who sent the letter? I am also a senior no longer able to live on such a paltry sum. No doctor and no longer able to stay in the community I love because I can't afford food or medicine or any of the help I need at this age - housekeeping, etc. I'd like to write my NDP MP and your info would be quite good in my letter. Lithium isn't mined by kids...
Lithium is all over the planet, and can be extracted with water. Major reserves were recently announced in the USA. Strip mines are also unfortunately used too.
The minerals in question are mostly Cobalt, which is used in NMC type batteries. LFP (LiFePO4) and it's derivatives *DON'T* use Cobalt...
And also note the only reason Africa is selling Cobalt, is because it's valuable. Worker conditions are most likely a problem, and the real question is, is it ethical to buy minerals from places that use inappropriate laybor...
And, here's the real kicker - the 10's of kg of lithium used in a typical passenger EV, along with any other battery minerals, are indefinitely recyclable... It's expected that in the next 20 years, we will have mined enough Li and other battery minerals, that we won't have to mine any more. You can't say that about the 10's of thousands of liters of fuel burnt in an ICE vehicle over its lifetime, all completely un-recoverable...
A good credit does not put the unreasonable down payment in your pocket nor does it help with the morgage payment proves how out of touch he is WHAT A IDIOTIC STATEMENT!!!

I have two things to say. First of all, I am voting 100% Pierre Poilievre. Secondly, what does it matter if paying your rent affects your credit score? After spending the $2000/ month, you have nothing left to save for a down payment.
I'm 59 yrs-old have never owned a new vehicle, could never afford a new vehicle and sures the hell can't afford an EV.
I am days away from 66 and I am the same as you. My first car was new, a hatchback, that I think I paid $6,800.00 for. After that, I only bought used vans and cars, some I drove for up to 12 years. I am currently driving a 2006 Honda CRV, and I LOVE IT!
I am keeping my 2010 van running as long as possible. It's better 4 environment tooth make everything u own last as long as possible even your socks.
