_Suki kirai suki kirai suki_ _Suki kirai suki kirai_ Syncopation is another banger one, and with the already mature side on Metal Resistance 2nd album. Our queen and princesses are undecided, like a syncopated heart, if they are really in love. Syncopation was the track exclusively for Japanese album while "From Dusk Till Dawn" was released for International version of Metal Resistance, of course that's my next recommendation if you didn't already, live at Budokan 2021 is the only proshot version. Along with Karate, is one of those songs many fans got that anime vibes, for me Karate would be the opening and Syncopation the ending. This is a live compilation with footage of live concerts after YuiMetal left the group during "avenger" era, Momoko Okazaki and Kano Fujihira (mostly) are the avengers filling the third spot as a backup dancer. The Kami Band after 2019 live concerts always wear masks, but you can enjoy a version without mask and with YuiMetal dancing live at Tokyo Dome 2016. I'm not sure if you mentioned about Babyklok US Tour along with Dethklok, so hopefully you'll get the chance to see them live. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥
This one of my favorite BM song. It is a incredible song. The video is stitched together from various Syncopation performances by a fan. It is not a official video. The audio was a live dub over. They haven't performed this song that much live and is a exclusive track that only was shipped on the Japan Album of Metal Resistance. We got from dusk to dawn on the international album. Honestly you can contact me anytime and I can give you a live performance for any BM song instead of music video.
Great review, thanks for reacting to it! Considering the score was based entirely on the audio, absolutely an awesome score. Love this song myself, agree it has some great instrumentals and solid vocals, the choreography and stage show are quite cool as well, but I understand why you didn't factor the visuals into the score. Unfortunately for a lot of these songs that don't have official live videos, compilations are all you can find on You Tube as they're all that can get past Amuse. Unfortunate, but it is what it is.
I also really appreciate that the bass has some prominence in the mix in this song. I think that's a significant contribution to the song having such a good groove. I'm not big on the compilation videos either. There are a lot of them floating around RUclips. Sometimes they even feature close ups of guitar playing...that doesn't match up with what you're hearing. Nails on chalkboard.
I happen to LOVE this song. EVERYTHING about it gets me hyped up and energized. I also love the choreography, especially during the breakdowns. BUT I do agree that the breakdowns could/should be longer! Great BABYMETAL reaction as always, David! 🤘🦊🤘
Good reaction, but as compilation videos go this one isn't actually that bad and watching it would have done no harm, even though you were never going to take it into account. At least with this one they have used the correct bits of choreo etc for what we are hearing, so even though it is all taken from different concerts you would have seen pretty much what a single live performance would look like. BABYMETAL being so consistent in their performances does allow for that to be done if whoever is making the video is good enough and cares enough. At least they didn't splice in guitarists not playing what we were hearing, bits of footage from other songs or the wrong person supposedly playing when it is somebody else, which are the sort of things the bad compilations that we steer people away from and hope people will avoid do. 'Syncopation' was a Japan exclusive track on the second album - the international edition had 'From Dusk Till Dawn' instead. 'Syncopation' has still only been played once outside of Japan - that was in Brixton, London in 2019 - and we could not believe our ears when the heartbeats started sounding. Su has said how surprised she was that everybody there seemed to know the song already as it had never been released outside of Japan.
Keep a look out for them 2 blokes in comments Grington the one's that said it was played only once outside of Japan and they experienced it still not seen their comments 😊😊😉🤘🏼🦊
Good point about compilation videos. There was one with the BMTH collab (Kingslayer) that even got a few reactors to think that Babymetal and BMTH performed the song live onstage together. I'm not a fan of that kind of sleight of hand.
Absolutely love this song only played outside Japan once at Brixton Academy in 2019 and i was lucky enough to experience it and Su sounded amazing as did the Kamis 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Hi David, I would give this an 8.6. I really love the heart beat guitar intro on how the it brings you into the beat. When I first found this song I was so suprised this was a Japan exclusive song. The opposite of Dusk Till Dawn, a western exclusive. Just very well made feeling song. Similar in style to focus on the feeling for Dusk Till Dawn. However, Dusk Till Dawn I would say is more complex to tell its message and feel.
Yeah I can understand why you chose to not take into consideration the video, even thought Ferr usually does a pretty good job of choosing performances that have a similar stage and feel, to keep it somewhat linear! At least it didn't get blocked xD This song was in their second album, Metal Resistance, and it was release only on the japanese version of the album, while we westeners got "From Dusk Till Dawn". When they played this song live for the first time outside of japan, it looks like SU was quite surprised that the crowd knew the song, since it hadn't been released outside of Japan yet :D
Syncopation, if not the best Metal Resistance song then one of the best. It shows the mature side that BABYMETAL was starting to show and it's definitely a BOP, I really hope they put it on the set list for some of the concerts because it's not a song that they perform too much. The lyrics, the choreography and the instrumental itself is really great and it goes accordingly, it's an incredible song. Another Metal Resistance song that I recommend if you haven't already reacted to it, is From Dusk Till Dawn, it shows an unusual side of girls but it's a banger, anyway good reaction.
Great review and a good score. Song is not high on my list of great babymetal songs, but still a a good song and as normal, much better live (real live).
This is in my top five of my favorite Babymetal songs of all time. The entire rhythm of the song is written to reflect the theme of the song, which is the frantic and anxious heartbeat of someone in love and I think any drawn out half-time or guitar solos would have wrecked the flow. This song uses syncopation throughout, as does the choreography, just as the heart beat itself is syncopated with the first beat being weaker, and then the second beat being the stronger. The song uses chord progression only found in Japanese pop, guitar reminiscent of Polyphia, and elements of both djent and prog. This is one of their most dynamic and unique songs they've ever written, and not anything like you will find with any other band because of its combination. Also, did I mention this compilation sucks?
I know you weren't taking the video into account, but one interesting thing I like about the dance choreography of this song is they incorporate syncopation into it. At around 4:19, 7:19, and 9:57 you can see Su being out-of step/off-beat compared to the others (with them being a half-beat behind in the dance moves), as an example of syncopation. I agree with your score for it, it's an interesting one that isn't my favourite BM song, but it's got enough interesting parts to it to keep you engaged the whole time.
The blast beats keep this song moving along nicely and it's a great song overall and a good example of the 'average' BM sound but those 3 mini breakdowns don't quite equal the usual 1 big BM breakdown, as you said.
Great reaction / review, thanks! Well, about compilation videos, there are bad, horrible and some decent. And this is from the last type... it's actually pretty good: using footage from similar concerts, stages, era, etc. Believe me, I'm used to their actual pro-shots and I'm quite picky about this kind of things. So, I totally understand your point but you are missing a pretty decent video. 😁 With that said, "Syncopation" is one of my favorite songs and I consider it their best song overall (setting aside my personal bias). As you mentioned, the guitar work is amazing and the drums are excellent as well... blastbeats were never more elegant. Not to mention that perfect ending with that tasty guitar solo and the drums leading to a perfect conclusion. Until next time! 🤘🦊
That brief shot of Su at 7:40 is refreshing to see. The little head banging. Seems like she is just being herself for a moment, unchoreographed (even if it is).
The Western Kami band is playing on this track, they are al American musicians. The drummer is Anthony Barone, who is a death metal drummer by the way. Nice reaction again David.
I hate these compilation videos, too. Especially for a band like BABYMETAL that relies so much on the visuals. That aside, I agree that the music is great. I love the two little guitar solos, they are full of technique, feeling and great phrasing, especially when Ohmura (from the Japanese Kami band) plays them.
This is actually my favourite BM song (at least until I've properly absorbed the new album - there are a couple that just might possibly challenge it). To me it sounds like it would make a good title track for a _Fullmetal_ _Alchemist:_ _Brotherhood_ season, which is a compliment since I love that series! If I had decent video editing skills I'd mock one up...
Personally, I prefer "Tales of Destinies" over this!! Which unfortunately they don't perform much anymore. If any BM song is reminiscent of Dream Theatre it's this one. (Tokyo Dome Live 2016) 🔥🎸🔥 "Catch Me If You Can" is another great early song!! Su-Metal was just 17 in this show and even then already so damn good. It features the late great Mikio Fujioka R.I.P. 💀 Which unfortunately died in a tragic Balcony accident in 2019. Mikio was a massive loss to Babymetal at the time & may have in part lead to Yui's departure. Which there was speculation on besides Yui's health. 🙄😪 Tokyo Dome - Legeng Metal Resistance took place in 2016 and ended the 2016 world tour. It was Babymetal's biggest concert at the time at Japan's biggest stadium. The show ran for 2 days in a row and was watched by a total of 110,000 people.
Why do people choose compilation videos hahahah😑 But yeah absolutely amazing guitars and drums in this one! Probably my favorite song from them together with Rosd of Resistance:)
Because they don't get usually blocked :D If they gave an entire Live Performance, it would have been blocked with a 99% chance because it was too recent!
I think this reaction video has lower quality than usual, but the cause is the low quality of the request. I don't know why the requester sent this compliation video. He could have care his request more. by the way, Su said this song is the most challenging song for her to sing. If her vocal in here is so-so, that would mean success for her. The difficulty of the song is came from doing singing and dancing simultaneously. She said the timing of the choreography is on downbeat, but she needed to sing with syncopated note. That is reason why I'm upset that someone requests this song with the compilation video. Lastly, since Syncopation was dealt with today, the last song of the 2nd album will be "From Dusk Till Dawn". I'm waiting for it is coming.
I don't think there are any songs. sing by su-metal that are mediocre. in my opinion everything is extraordinary with the way she sings and dances that is clean and good. although for megitsune songs, in my opinion, it's a bit unsuited to the mature su-metal pitch vocal.
On many BM track's they sometimes need lower the instrumental volume so as not to drown Su. I think they forget she's still 5 ft 100 lb female Japanese teenager. No matter what she does biology dictates how much volume she can produce. They need to adjust down to meet what she can produce.
Hey David, is there a chance you could do a video on some or your favorite songs you ran into from this channel that you regularly listen to now? I think that would be enjoyable. Or even if you share your playlist that has songs from the channel?
I got issues here. This compilation was seamless the audio was LIVE and yes the footage was edited together but masterfully done (had you just kept your eyes open long enough then you biased pre-conceived opinion may have changed). Secondly your comment about Suzuka’s vocals being middle of the road for her tell me how many female vocalists could have sang above the raging guitars and drums like she did (and do it superbly)? Understand that I have high regard for your reviews/analysis but (in my opinion) you should set these expectations aside and rely on your EYES as well as your ears. Until next time.
even thought the compilation Ferr does, often are pretty well made and he tries to keep the feeling of the live performance choosing similar stages and settings!
