as with my experience, capacitive fan regulator is best for fan loads, since its an inductive load. If u use triac method, then in course of time, the triac gets destroyed due to inductive voltage spikes from fan

This is very interesting, I was looking for this for a long time, the only regulator I was aware of is the one with the triac, but this one has the effect that at half speed the motor hums, this is due to phase cutting of the triac.
The only solution I found for that instead, but rather expensive, is a variac.
The solutions you offered I will definitely try.
Just wondering where these regulators are available.
