If it makes you feel any better about the 10k goal... this was a marketing ploy as the japanese character for '10' looks a bit like a person walking. There's tonnes of research out there now to say 4k-7k is actually a much more ideal number. I think the research found 4k was good and up to 7k you saw positive improvements in health but after 7k the difference was minimal (I.e. doing 7k is much better than 4k but the step up from 7k to 10k makes very little difference) We've all heard the 10k figure thrown around so much and it's often the default on step trackers but i would strongly suggest you do a little bit of googling about the subject and check the research. It's made me feel soooo much better and more motivated to reach a much more achievable goal. (I have a very all or nothing mindset so if I couldn't do 10k, I wouldn't even try... now I know to aim for 4k min and TRY to do 7k when it fits my day)
Oh this is so fascinating - thank you so much for sharing! Why am I not surprised it has its roots in marketing 🥲 definitely going to read into this more!
I’ve always been very active, then covid happened and I became VERY sedentary. Went through a major life change two months ago and am getting back into exercise…. walking is legitimately the best. Relaxing. Easy to bring the dog along. And it’s easy to make a habit out of. The biggest struggle for me is the darkness (love the cold personally…), so after work, squeeze in a quick walk and then finish up by looping around the rooms and hallways. My dog also thinks I’m insane. Good luck with your physical health journey! Also, love your videos. They’re such a joy to watch. :)
Thanks so much for the kind words/well wishes, and for sharing your experience - walking really is just the best! 🥰 Good luck with your exercise journey too, and with the major life change - hope you're doing okay!
PLEASE make a video talking about all the places you like to walk! I'm also trying to hit a moderate number of steps a day, and I also don't care for most other forms of cardio, so I'd love to hear more about your adventures in walking, and occasionally falling. Thank you for sharing!
Congratulations on your regroup. I often say that I’ll never stop trying. Last October I started riding my stationary bike for five minutes a day. I hated every minute but I stuck to it. Over time I’d increase by five minutes. Now I’m at 30/35 minutes every morning. I believe I could ride longer but not consistently which is my goal. I don’t do it for fitness, I’d need much more than a bike. I did it to build a daily practice that I wasn’t hating. Now, it’s not a big deal, I feel better and even a small amount of consistent movement has helped me with balance because it strengthened my ankles.
Kudos to you for sticking to it and building that habit - that's a real achievement! And it gives me hope that if I stick at it, I can build a habit too. Thank you for sharing 🥰
So happy you’re doing well🤗 your videos inspired me to try a hobo cousin as my great big book of everything so I always love seeing your pages for ideas!
I've been using the hobo cousin for years now and I totally LOVE it. the thin paper is like nothing else! give it a try, it's definitely worth trying. 🙂
@@ink-stained_realms that’s so good to hear! It took me a minute to catch a rhythm with how I want to use it but now I definitely see why people love it!
Your videos are so lovely and comforting! And I resonate with many things that you talk about, especially about health, socializing, and gaming. Always looking forward to your videos!
I'm also using the hobonichi cousin and I really like what you did with the daily pages! 😍it looks so sweet with the little photos and pictures in between 😍
It's SO good honestly, highly recommend the whole trilogy! And thank you! Mentally - I'm great! Physically - Feb has turned out to be flu season 😭 Hope you're doing well!
I also finished reading Winter of the Witch around the same time! I finished all three books in Jan and Feb, it was so addicting and perfect winter reading.
I don't live in a very walkable area so I got a little walking pad and it has changed my life! I particularly love reading while walking because I get very lost in the zone ✨
Walking pads are great!! I have one in my garage that I really need to get back out again actually 😅 ooooh I love the idea of reading while walking - going to give that one a try myself, thank you so much for the tip!
Midnights and evermore are my favourites!! So excited for the new one!! I’ve been playing Stardew for the last month non stop. I’m so obsessed 😂 dreading the day I’m burnt out and not hyperfixated on it!!
Mine too!! I like the sad albums 😅 omggggg Stardew is so good! And because it still gets updates, I find it's easier to get out of the burnout because there's often new stuff to do! Now I want to go back to my very neglected farm... 🥲😂
@@ellesbooks same 😂😂 looove upbeat music but something about those albums I just love even though they are slower and sadder!! I just got back from a full Stardew weekend with my best friend 😂 we literally played all Friday to Sunday basically non stop and I’m still bored of it!!! 😂 it’s so good
Can I give you a couple of tips for exercise? Turns out that you actually don’t need to do super heaps to get your weekly recommended amount. What I do is go on the treadmill for 10 mins after breakfast and my evening meal and then two times a week an hour at a sports school plus of course your everyday household chores and that is enough! By linking exercise to a part of your daily routine (in my case it’s meal times) it becomes second nature very quickly. I hope later to find some fixed moments for yoga, meditation and breathing too as part of my new healthy lifestyle as I have been inactive for far too long. Exercise boosts your mood too!
These are all amazing tips - thank you so much!! I'm really taking the "small bursts add up approach" right now - long stretches are very intimidating to me right now 😅 Love the idea of linking it to daily routine moments too! I've been sick in bed all week so out of the exercise routine - starting small again sounds like a great plan!
Hi ellie! On your Jan 29-Feb 4 pages at the bottom you have what appears to be maybe Chinese ink paintings mountains that are beautiful. Would you please share where you purchased from? Thank you! I really enjoy your videos! ~kari
Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words 🥰 they're from The Washi Tape Shop, which I actually have a discount code for - it's in the description of this video if you're interested!
I guess we can just tell ourselves that it'll get easier when the weather gets better 😅 sending you best wishes, hope you're staying as safe as possible over there!

agreed! that walking video sounds so pleasant!
Well now I'm going to have to do a video that features at least some rambling about walking 😅 thank you for the encouragement!

Definitely the perfect books for this time of year - and they're sooooo good!
I really hope this doesn't sound weird but like I could listen to your videos on a loop for hours while I just do my own thing. I love your voice!
Not weird at all - thank you so much!!! 🥰
I’m also taking a slightly soft approach to Depth Year, it must be said. Also for sustainability reasons. Lovely to watch a video from you again 🥰
Ahhh thanks so much Bez! Appreciate the support and, of course, the introduction to Depth Year! 🥰
The depth concept is really interesting. It’s actually something I realized I wanted to do this year but I didn’t have a name for it. Thanks for this!
You're so welcome! It's a really great idea, it's definitely helped me be more mindful with my purchases and my time!

ohh where did you get those Japanese scenery stickers from? Love how you decorate your journal
I got them from FolkPaper on Etsy! Thank you for the kind words 🥰

January and February are not the best months for walking in Ukraine as well so I became sedentary 👀
