I live and ride on London. A lot of the motorcycle theives have taken to riding high powered (stolen) 500cc scooters. The trouble is that these scooters are very fast and maneuverable. @@ph11p3540 That's a bit of an oversimplification, but I'm guessing you know that. With every police department being stretched for resources, they obviously have to assess each call to determine whether a response is needed. And if so, what the response should be. The assessment to dispatch or not won't take more then a few seconds in a case like this. All the questions after that are to inform the officers, who are already on their way at that point. That being said. In order to save every possible second, I usually make myself a person of interest. By stating "such and such is happening, and I'm gonna engage the f*ckers now!". By stating I'm probably about to hurt someone there's no question about the necessity of police intervention. And I find they usually show up rather quickly.. :-)

In these instances you do what you need to do. If someone finds themselves in this situation, ride as quickly and safely as possible to a police station and ride right up to the entrance! They were up to no good and you did what you needed to do to drop them. One thing to consider is that a three up bike like that takes some pulling up, if they’re at the side of you, hit the anchors and spin around and go the other way. Do a quick U Turn, no way could they turn around like a solo rider, you’d be out of sight in a breath ... IOM TT next mate 😁 I reckon you’d be pretty quick around the island 😉

This is Sheffield, my home town. Some good mates are bikers local to the city and as far as i understand the problem with bike theft, it's everywhere, not just London as so many of the videos depict of course. I can completely understand the motives for this biker's evasive action. I'd probably be the same, but a far less experienced rider would be far more at risk of hurting themselves in this situation. That's another knock on effect that bike thieves create.
I'd probably have (carefully) gone through the red lights. I mean, if a police officer sees you, stops you and asks you why you did it, you can say, erm, I was trying to get away from the balaclava clad kids who are three up and have been chasing me for 10 minutes! 😂
This is why we conceal-carry in the US. If criminals don't obey laws by definition, it's up to responsible citizens to legally carry for protection and to put these animals down. Today it's your bike, tomorrow it's an innocent persons life. I realize it's an older video.
my advice in these situations is do the loop trick which is go fast but go round a figure of 8 pattern through housing estates, keep watching for them, if you no longer see them, next turn that isnt a cul-de-sac take it, theyll think theyre being smart setting up a possible trap, when really theyre just there hiding lil bell ends waiting for someone who wont turn up, ive also used a roundabout before now too, one of the big ones you get for motorways, just loop round it theyll try keeping up on a bike thats overloaded and theyll either slow down or low side it and slide, if they slow down, make sure you keep going round, moment you lose sight or they lose sight, take the turn off and then next turn as soon as possible, to them youll have just vanished. my best experience was getting chased by two stolen sports bikes, i know how to ride fast over ruts and bumps on old roads, it was the single most satisfying thing taking a corner at 80mph, foot peg making sparks and i look in mirror to see the idiots go straight across both lanes and into some trees, turned back after to see if they were ok, at which point id met with some friends, I'm not a evil person, they came out covered in their own blood from cuts and one was crying in the trees about a broken leg. they got out safe... one of the lads who i was meeting was a medic, the other 6, off duty officers.
While the Police would disagree I think you did the right thing by getting out of the situation, it is unlikely that they where simply out for a joy ride and the balaclavas kinda give it away, I have seen a few of this types of things and sometimes they are a smash and grab but often if the target is on a more powerful bike they know that people are aware of bike thieves and as soon as they see 2 or 3 on a bike defenses go up so they will try to lower the guard of that person by engaging in friendly chat as they know if they try to rush that person at a stop the target could be gone before they are fully off the bike, so it was good you did not talk to them as them asking that question was them trying to gain your trust and bring down your defenses.
Similar thing happened to me, 3 guys, 150cc scooter (I was on a 125 razorback) make sure to stay cool, you can shake them off with braking, it worked for me and when they are right next to you is the best time for it, they may attempt a u turn to get back to you, just accelerate away and do your best to get out of sight
Always better off being safe than sorry, I had to explain to an officer why I was doing 90 in a 30 once, luckily enough he saw the 2 bikes and 3 guys with no lids fly past and didn't even let me finish explaining just sent me on my way. Always better to be safe

Best thing to do would be to ride around these estates on something they want to steal, get them to chase and lead them into a walled compound, with a few handy chaps waiting, lock the gates once they are in and give them a few thrupenny ones, just enough so they can’t breathe.
I like the way you think mate 😉
Even better, buy an old bike but put new fairings etc on it so it looks like a new model, then rig it with an IED and just leave it somewhere where you know they are going to steal it!! But watch, so you can warn any innocents etc not to go near!

'For every action there is an equal an opposite reaction'. You would probably fall off too if you're not careful.
You rode with as much care and safety as you could to evade a potentially dangerous situation. Sure it was risky, the fact you maintained such good control and kept checking traffic shows you were not reckless or stupid though. As someone else said, would have done the same any day of the week
Plot twist: they saw that you have a good bike and one of them gave a thumbs up and they followed you for the sound checks
You need to get mobile technology fitted so you could call for assistance! Having said that, well done mate for NOT panicking and riding well within your limits; bikers such as you are a privilege to share the road with. I being a car driver! 🏴
Why? The police dispatcher would have spent 10 minutes to ask stupid distracting questions before deciding if it's worth dispatching police to your location. It's not the job of the police to prevent crime. THAT'S YOUR JOB. Police are only there to pick up the pieces.

Better to be safe than sorry has a new meaning.
what dangerous driving? badass skills mate, better then any other vids here that try to drive badass. I always drive like that
“What is it that’s a bad boy” they ask as they’re literally riding the older shaped version of his bike
You can thank liberal progressives for that mate.
my advice in these situations is do the loop trick which is go fast but go round a figure of 8 pattern through housing estates, keep watching for them, if you no longer see them, next turn that isnt a cul-de-sac take it, theyll think theyre being smart setting up a possible trap, when really theyre just there hiding lil bell ends waiting for someone who wont turn up, ive also used a roundabout before now too, one of the big ones you get for motorways, just loop round it theyll try keeping up on a bike thats overloaded and theyll either slow down or low side it and slide, if they slow down, make sure you keep going round, moment you lose sight or they lose sight, take the turn off and then next turn as soon as possible, to them youll have just vanished. my best experience was getting chased by two stolen sports bikes, i know how to ride fast over ruts and bumps on old roads, it was the single most satisfying thing taking a corner at 80mph, foot peg making sparks and i look in mirror to see the idiots go straight across both lanes and into some trees, turned back after to see if they were ok, at which point id met with some friends, I'm not a evil person, they came out covered in their own blood from cuts and one was crying in the trees about a broken leg. they got out safe... one of the lads who i was meeting was a medic, the other 6, off duty officers.
I've been there in the exact same bike bro. Was lucky I had the ABS off. I was gone!!! Good on you! Protect yours. N' be safe.
Running away from robbers, stops for red light...🤔
Similar thing happened to me, 3 guys, 150cc scooter (I was on a 125 razorback) make sure to stay cool, you can shake them off with braking, it worked for me and when they are right next to you is the best time for it, they may attempt a u turn to get back to you, just accelerate away and do your best to get out of sight
the two lads on the back the chasing bike would've just jumped off and had him if he'd done that.
Be careful m8 they are persistent fookers...... followed me all way from manor to killamarsh once .... don’t whatever you do let them follow you home
Please don't apologise... as you stated. BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY
Always better off being safe than sorry, I had to explain to an officer why I was doing 90 in a 30 once, luckily enough he saw the 2 bikes and 3 guys with no lids fly past and didn't even let me finish explaining just sent me on my way. Always better to be safe
