I think it's perfectly understandable to skip most of the Chalices, but I would say the Pthumeru series of Chalices are worth playing to completion because they're the primary ones with the most significant and unique final boss. The next Pthumeru Chalice following the one you left off on in this video is extremely challenging because it's "cursed", meaning your HP is halved and enemies are generally tougher, and it unfortunately doesn't have a unique boss at the end of it but I still think it's an interesting challenge because you can't afford to be nearly as careless with the fight as you can in the usual instance of the fight outside the Chalice, and you'll likely have to go through some trial and error to devise a new strategy to get through it even though it's a boss you've beaten before. After that, the final Pthumeru Chalice will serve as a worthwhile finale. It's also worth mentioning that cursed Chalices are actually more rewarding, as enemies can drop randomized cursed bloodgems which often grant much greater benefits than normal bloodgems but with drawbacks which may be negligible or may be too troublesome to justify the benefit. You never know when you might get a gem that makes your favorite weapon significantly stronger.

Mostly a strength weapon which deals rather good damage even if you meet the minimum arcane requirement of the weapon. The untransformed state's uncharged, charged, follow up of the charged, backstep and running R2 are rather good moves. also, that white habit woman who is praying, its Vicar Amelia, the beast you fought in Grand Cathederal. She regains her human form in the Nightmare. I don't know why though.
From what I understand the Hunters Nightmare is a reflection of the past. Hence why Maria still has the Rakuyo (She threw it into the well after what happened after the Fishing Hamlet). Laurence exists, and also why Laurence's skull is human still.
That's not Amelia, but a prior Vicar of the healing church. Just because she's citing a common verse among members of the healing church, doesn't mean she's Amelia. If she were Amelia she would be sent to the nightmare as the cleric beast she was when she died, like how we see Laurence or any other beasts trapped in the nightmare.
Hey John, a tip for your other/next playthrough, you probably read this before but some npcs have different dialogue when you wear church clothes, ludwig was one of them
The moonlight greatsword is a weapon that appears in every Fromsoft game. Even ones you wouldn't think it would. The sword you've been using is a copy of the moonlight sword, basically people who wanted to be as cool as Ludwig made that one to try and emulate him. Its fun to use, you can either have it as a longsword or turn it into a greatsword and shoot energy blasts at the cost of bullets. And yeah, the chalice dungeons get repetitive. Also they get very hard, like NG+ hard. See, the chalices don't reset or increase in difficulty like everything else in NG+, they're set. But eventually they're as difficulty as NG+ and NG++ stuff. Which is why I personally say don't worry about doing it for this youtube series.
I'm enjoying this playthrough so much John! I really love how much fun you genuinely seem to be having with it. Your enthusiasm for the game makes it feel fresh. I hope you play more games that make you happy, even if the analytics won't be happy lol
Using the loch shield and taking cover under the doorways ( for when they summon the meteor shower attack ) make Living Failures a lot easier to deal with
Watching all of your bloodborne videos have brought so much joy to me, so thank you! Also, it’s let me have the courage to try the game after 5 years and actually enjoy it. I’ve always ignored it Bc everyone said it was too hard and shunned newcomers. So thank you for everything!
About the chalice dungeons: Personally I would not mind see you play through all of them, without cutting anything out. But I understand not everyone wants that. And yes, there are bosses that you already fought, which I agree is a little mehh... But I hope you'll still do them, because there are a few really cool bosses in them. The mehh ones are worth doing to see the new ones. Usually the lower depths has the unique and more fun ones. Also, I hope you are enjoying the game so far. It's probably one of my top 5 games of all time, and seeing you play it is really fun. Looking forward to see your final thoughts by the end of it!
For the Giant Boss fight, you should dodge into the incoming attack. Meaning if he/she/it swings the left arm (claw) dodge towards/into the arm. Not away from it.
You cannot hold more than one blood vial from NPCs, so you need to "spend" Ariana's in order to get the one from the Research Hall (which you should get, at least to test it, each NPC blood vial has a different effect) Also, you forgot to go there again to give her brain fluid again, if you want to finish here mini-quest

My favorite part of this playthrough is John's reactions to the weirdo behavior from the npcs. His faces at Ludwig's maniacal neighing and brain fluid lady were everything. Thank you for the videos John!
Great episode, still loving this series. I find the less challenging and unique areas just as entertaining to watch as the more difficult parts. It's great to see the progress of this series, even the grindy parts. It's also great to see the upgrading (Hunter's Dream) parts included in the videos. Keep up the good work!
I'm so proud of you John for keeping up with this series! This is my first time hearing about the Soulsborne series, and I'm watching through your experience. This is exactly what I love watching after work, Bloodborne has been consuming my life lately. I started a new file and met Henryk for the first time and it was cool how I encountered new enemies my second time
I'm loving every playthrough. I was super excited to see your reaction to Ludwig in the last video. He was one of the more troublesome bosses for me thinking I ruled the world NG+5 at the time... And then I got slapped. Beast blood pellets really helped, especially on bosses where being aggressive (most bosses it seems is the best playstyle) bodes better success... Undead giants are one of those since after popping 1-2 sacks, they're tanks. I'm excited for the Loran Chalice!
Love you stuff dude especially blood borne cause I played it so much and raged even more so it’s kinda a nice feeling watching other people experience the suffering that is blood borne

The architecture in this game is absolutely beautiful and there's so much of it; all the buildings, statues, doors etc are gorgeous and there are areas that would truly be so awe inspiring if they existed in real life. I read it took 2.5 to create Bloodborne and wow does it show; a most sincere tip of the hat to the designers and developers.

Usually when you fall to your death "souls" or in this case "echoes" are on the ledge you fell from.
If you die from falling ur echoes are always where you fell from.
The Undead Giants are some of the "funnest" chalice dungeon bosses. All of them really like their one shots. Good luck as you get deeper!
Hey John, a tip for your other/next playthrough, you probably read this before but some npcs have different dialogue when you wear church clothes, ludwig was one of them
It was on this day John uploaded more Bloodborne. And ye the people did rejoice. Blessed be. ✨✨
It's the morningstars on his back, trhey swing around causing extra damage.
Man, all those blood echos lost. It's like a kick to the balls. But John keeps on going, strong and bold.
I'm enjoying this playthrough so much John! I really love how much fun you genuinely seem to be having with it. Your enthusiasm for the game makes it feel fresh. I hope you play more games that make you happy, even if the analytics won't be happy lol
Using the loch shield and taking cover under the doorways ( for when they summon the meteor shower attack ) make Living Failures a lot easier to deal with
Thanks for all of this content John, I'm really loving these long plays! They're the perfect thing to watch over a few nights before bed!
I was going to sleep but....
John comes up with these video titles because he has a lot of insight
I love the anticipation of having to wait for a video then randomly checking RUclips and seeing John's face pop up with some gasly creature
The lady in the chair still has stuff to say about the brain fluid...
Watching all of your bloodborne videos have brought so much joy to me, so thank you! Also, it’s let me have the courage to try the game after 5 years and actually enjoy it. I’ve always ignored it Bc everyone said it was too hard and shunned newcomers. So thank you for everything!
Amazing playthrough, John! Having a great time watching. Keep on kicking ass!
The chalice dungeons do have a lot of repeat bosses and repeat enemies, but the final bosses are almost always unique or fresh.
For the Giant Boss fight, you should dodge into the incoming attack. Meaning if he/she/it swings the left arm (claw) dodge towards/into the arm. Not away from it.
The "Boom Hammer" was created by an old hunter named Ash Williams.
Groovy.
Slick.
John!
Awesome man. This playthrough has been great! I had a son in February of 2020 and I can't play video games anymore. It just doesn't happen hahaha. This playthrough has been my saving grace in between meals, park trips, changing poopy diapers, throwing fits, etc. It's been you for the win!! Hahaha thanks man! And when my son is old enough he'll be a John Wolfe fan.🤘🏻
Even by today's standards, this game is a visual masterpiece.
Highly anticipating a remake and/or a sequel!!! 😈😈😈
Thankyou John for this playthrough!
This is another 'You've inspired me to try' comment, though I have played Bloodborne before and ended up ragequitting. Seeing how far you've come has shown me how much fun the game appears to be much later. I hope you give Nioh/Nioh 2 a shot for a weeby loot-based take on the 'soulsborne' formula once you're done with this game. Keep it up!
Will have to watch tomorrow as I’m heading to bed but wanted to thank you for the upload John!!!
Edit; morning! I’m glad I’m not the only person who had trouble with these guys. They hit like damn trucks on NG+ 4
John check the elevator after you fight the two hunters , the one before going to the research hall. There are a few secrets in that elevator.
I just want to say that I really appreciate all the hard work and effort you put into these videos. Thank you for bringing us another awesome one, and keep up the good work!
Fuck yeah lets go!! I genuinely love this series so much mainly because it’s so nice to see John play a game he actually seems to enjoy
Thanks John. Your a great RUclipsr. Since the beginning I've been wanting to play this game and when you started to play it I started it too. I'm always a little ahead of you, so I can watch your videos, but it's good to see how I play vs another person playing. Also it helps me with items and things I miss in my play through. Thank you John
Oh and BTW, I'm 105 and still have difficulty with chalice dungeons, so excited to see that 😀
I'm so excited to be watching this. You're doing so well at the game, I'm ecstatic about it! And the care you take in exploring the environment and reading descriptions is wonderful. I love listening to your theories about the world lore, and I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Thanks so much for this series, it's been so great so far.
John got me back into playing Bloodborne and I might be a tiny bit late to the party but... Got the platinum!
Thanks for the nudge, John!
Couldn't get to sleep last night, so I got maybe an hour of rest before the 14-hour shift I had at work today. A busy Friday night no less. This is exactly what I needed after all that. Thanks again for playing one of my favorite games. Forever one of my favorite youtube channels 👍
I know many have said this but watching you play through this game actually makes it feel accessible for others to play and really makes me want to start playing! I'm so happy I've gotten to watch you play through it. It's been so fun so far and can't wait for the next!
I love the face at 7.30 after saying "you gotta cheese it this way" and getting killed by the church nun. Been in the same position and know the feeling.
My favorite part of this playthrough is John's reactions to the weirdo behavior from the npcs. His faces at Ludwig's maniacal neighing and brain fluid lady were everything. Thank you for the videos John!
This walktrough is like a great tv show ... I can't wait for the next episode
Great episode, still loving this series. I find the less challenging and unique areas just as entertaining to watch as the more difficult parts. It's great to see the progress of this series, even the grindy parts. It's also great to see the upgrading (Hunter's Dream) parts included in the videos. Keep up the good work!
Man, it's been such an adventure so far - I really appreciate that you're committed to finishing a series!
I'm so proud of you John for keeping up with this series! This is my first time hearing about the Soulsborne series, and I'm watching through your experience. You've been playing extremely well, and it's inspired me to test it out for myself! Thank you for uploading and stay consistent. I love your channel so much!
Yay, more Bloodborne! I have really enjoyed watching your playthrough. I have never played this game myself, so this has been blind for me too.
just wanted to say thank you for keeping us all entertained :) ive gotten fond of the game thanks to your series! i always watch your content with a smile and its really nice to chill in bed on a sad, gloomy day and spend time relaxing with your videos.
8:42 when your sibling won't leave you alone
John going all in with this series
So proud of John for playing something different, especially souls-type of a game, and see him interested in the game, keep a good job!
I look forward to your videos every week, seeing you play bloodborne has added to my anticipation of seeing your video for week. Thank you so much reading into the lore, I love it!
I finally caught up from falling behind 10+ bloodbourne videos.... now I feel empty lol
Watching u made me excited to play this game so I bought it and am really enjoying it! Your the only RUclipsr that I still watch lol most others get annoying after awhile, but not you! Keep being yourself cuz ur awesome!:)
Friday night upload nice.
Aww, like easing Ludwig's conscience and him giving me the sword and not just smashing his head lol
Hey John! I just want to say that I’m loving this series. My brother and I are always waiting for you to upload Bloodborne, watching you makes me want to play it too (I never really liked these types of games until you started playing it)
WOO-HOO! That battle with The Living Failures - it had some seriously EPIC music!
This LP has been a blast; it feels like being there, all the while you're just blowing past these bosses (like my hands can't anymore) ...KUDOS To YOU!😎
Thank You So Much, John🥰
Thx John! New treats for the weekend! Really enjoy this series since the day you posted it. It is really enjoyable to watch also encouraged me to pick back up DS3 with more patience.
I don't own a console, so have to bear with no bloodborne till the day I have.
When you fell off the ledge I got the full on 'missed one of the stairs in the dark' stomach jolt!
I’m honestly enjoying your chalice dungeon content as much as the dlc and main game.
Also, if after this you decide to do other soulsborne games, I, and I’m sure others, will be very happy to watch your playthroughs.
24:35 - the moment I have been waiting for. I know it was an accident but that was satisfying.
I'm so glad John likes the whirligig, it's such a fun weapon. Also v thankful for this series, can definitely see myself coming back watching these episodes again.
Just started the dlc myself gotta say Ludwig is making life extremely difficult thanks for inspiring me to pick this game up again aside from the dlc its not as hard as some make it out to be
Ludwig is easily one of the most difficult bosses in the game. If you made it all the way to him, you can beat him! Don't give up! :)
@@ZombifyMeCapn just beat Ludwig today actually it felt like it took an eternity lol
@@johnhammons9088 NICE 🤘
Epic stuff, can't wait to see the rest of the boss fights
Those big red spiders in the chalice dungeon legitimately jump scared me lmao
I get what you mean about the chalice dungeons John but even with the repeats I still enjoy watching you play them. It's interesting to see new monsters every now and then down there and I'm sure the bosses will eventually get more diverse. I'm very excited to watch you fight Maria, I bet she's gonna be a doozy.
Awesome video John!
Hey John, now you have Alfred's executioner badge you can buy his armour set so if you want to dress up as a golden pyramid head the choice is now yours! (Fully in support of fashion-borne here).
The choir armor you’re wearing to fight the Undead Giant isn’t great against physical damage, only arcane
